Voll Blau Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 As it says, on which hallowed bits of turf have you played? Personally, I've played at Filbo in some Junior Foxes Euro 96 tournament (Kevin Poole presented the medals and certificates). Blasted the decisive penalty over the stand in a charity match at Layer Road a few years ago, and captained a side in a 5-5 draw at Carrow Road. So, where have you played?
C-man Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Completed the holy trinity a while back, not any great shakes but still done them. Filbo - Rice Cup final 2000/1 Grace Road - Leicestershire sixes tournament 2005/6 Welford Road - Tigers Cup 2001 (also ball-boyed there for 3 years including a couple of games at the KP)
Haydos Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Rugby at Twickenham and trained at Oval Park for about 15 years.
Soar Fox Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Played at Filbert Street when I was a kid in a cup final for Aylestone Park. Had a tournament at Vitesse Arnhem stadium in 2001 when our team toured Holland.
StanSP Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Wivenhoe Football Club NEC Nijmegen Quite a contrast
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Played at Twickenham for Kent schoolboys, in the mid 60s.
Voll Blau Posted 5 February 2015 Author Posted 5 February 2015 Wivenhoe Football Club NEC Nijmegen Quite a contrast Used to watch Wivenhoe Town occasionally when I lived round there.
StanSP Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Used to watch Wivenhoe Town occasionally when I lived round there. That was the first proper 'stadium' (I say that, it had 1 stand back then) I'd ever played at . What an experience.
ousefox Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Played against Harrogate Town u19s at their ground a few years back. Was meant to play at Elland Road in a cup final but we got kicked out for fielding an ineligible player
kingfox Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Had a kickabout on Friar Lane & Epworth's pitch with Dion Dublin's nephew.
cambridgefox Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Played the fool on the pitch at HT at the Abbey Stadium Cambridge. Had a local stag do aswell ,and my mates dressed me up as a french maid and I had said" wouldn't it be embarrassing if I won the draw at HT" my mate scampered off and arranged for me to DO the draw at HT with Marvin the moose In the centre circle,I was off my head and my mate was telling filthy jokes through the microphone .They weren't pleased.
Guest MattP Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Filbert Street, Meadow Lane, Bramall Lane in school football tournaments. Frustratingly one game from Wembley twice in these as well. Grace Road for cricket.
filbertway Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Went to the Auction at Filbert Street after it closed down, got to kick a flat ball around there for a bit. Other than that, I've played at The Lamb (Tamworth's ground) a few times for cup finals. Lower down I've played on Ibstock and Coalville's pitches - nothing major to write home about but playing at a proper ground rather than the local field always felt special as a kid.
Finnegan Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Scored two tries at Welford Road in a pre match game.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Rice Bowl late 90's at Filbo. Loved it.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Did football Aid at the KP last year. Drew 2-2 and broke my nose within 5 mins of coming on.
steveherbe Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Sol the wall bamba played a cup final at St Marys stadium, and kwik cricket at the Rose Bowl. Did my cricket coaching courses at Rose Bowl as well

ramadaone Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Filbert Street twice in Westerby Cup against mostly first team as on both occasions they needed game time due to bad weather in previous weeks Still got the scar where Allan Evans took me out the dirty bstard
BoyJones Posted 5 February 2015 Posted 5 February 2015 Don't laugh, but played at Boston United's ground in a Lincolnshire Cup match in 1992 at the age of 40. It was for their sort of reserve reserve team, but coached by one of their first team players at the time, Chris Cook, who had played in their Trophy final at Wembley a few years earlier. Don't remember the score, but do know I had had a skinful the night before because presumed I wouldn't even make the subs bench. I also remember playing a few times against Julian Joachim in the Lincolnshire leagues when he was 16/17 years old. We nearly always beat his team, they called themselves Santos, then Boston FC, but he was just about the quickest player I ever played against in 46 years of adult football (and still counting!)
