Favourite memories since supporting City

Leicester 4-1 Millwall (2002) - Coming out of Administration, and 'Dennis what's the score?' etc. Definitley my favourite day as a young kid watching Leicester and probably the only one I can really remember very well from that season.

That's a brilliant shout. Had forgotten all about that game. Didn't we go 0-1 down as well?

Yeah Steve Claridge scored for them inside the first minute if I'm remembering it right.

Last minute equalisers/winners are always a laugh - Marshall at Brum, Kasper last season and waghorn scoring against bristol city especially.

Went mental when Nuge scored against watford in the playoffs and we won 1-0, genuinely thought we were going up after that.

is that the game where they had no fans and it was just silent when they scored. that was mad (if it's the same game).

Probably now you mention it, I do find it difficult to believe that my Mum would have allowed me to go to a game involving Millwall at that age if they'd had fans in attendance.

Hillsborough '97 League Cup replay, bought a ticket from (no, shouldn't say) & was 6 rows back from where Walshie received the Cup. I cried. Later that year I fled the country when Blair became PM.

Other than that, a Gary Lineker headed goal from way outside the box (a Bobby Smith cross that caught his ear, if I'm honest)

And Shrewsbury, FA Cup in 1982.

Going down with my dad and spending time with him at the games. My time as a young fan was a period of success for the club. My first real memory being the playoff heartache final vs Swindon, but I do remember the O'Neill times clearly.

It was in the playoff winning season i started going down with my dad. I remember games sitting in the upper double decker, i was small and when the ball went over the half way line everyone would stand up and i couldnt see a thing. But the noise at times seemed deafening, and coming down the upperton road, for whatever reason the ground looked enormous compared to the KP, with the two tiered Carling stand and the old style floodlight pylons. Would start the game with our prematch dinner in the shark chippy, where the Spar is now if my memory is right.

Certain things stand out, even from back then. I remember a game v West Brom where Richard Sneekers scored an absolute belter and we lost the game 2-1, it was highly unlikely we would make the playoffs but a week later against Oldham, Claridge made a run from the half way line as two Oldham players tried to foul him and he bagged. We won 2-0 and we went on a long run to the playoffs.

My dad knew a programme seller at the ground who was a referee, would meet up beforehand for a chat, and the two of them actually ended up officiating in a testimonial match on the Filbert Street pitch where i got complimentary directors box tickets and the chance to meet the players after the game at the time and got a few pictures with the likes of Elliott, Collymore, Zagorakis, O'Neill himself vs a team of Lineker's all stars (that were bang average btw......think Malcolm Christie played up front).

Also, in terms of league games, its hard to top the 5-2 v Sunderland. Just a shame it slowly fell apart after that time bit by bit.

Yeah that's the one, only time I've been in the away end at the KP

Forest away in the League Cup, 2007, was brilliant too. Literally 2-1 down in something like the 88th minute then Clemence scores from about 20 yards before Stearman somehow managed to bundle the ball in. Chants that day still make me laugh now!

That one doesn't get enough love on here. That's probably the best away end I've ever been in.

Grimsby Town away in 2002. Right behind the goal when Izzet scored his overhead kick. Always have memories of the entire day not just the game.

Great away day that was. Absolutely superb

Besides the obvious promotions and cup final wins...

Absolutely loved last min win over Leeds in the league one season. Stevie Howard. Loved our win at Huddersfield earlier that season too.

I'm sure it shouldnt even be in my top 50 but Leeds one for some reason that one ranks v highly with me.

Home v Arsenal at Filbert St was special the 3-3 for various reasons.

Could probably list hundreds here. Despite the doldrum years there have been some fine memories also.

Obviously the Wembley wins. Palace at Wembley is my greatest memory as that was the game that made me a Leicester fan. I always liked Leicester but that Claridge moment and the scenes afterwards made me into a die hard fan.

The Man Utd game this season takes some beating though. Best moment was by far when Cambiasso scored to equalise. His face of sheer joy was amazing to see with my own eyes. I sit in the Kop (row B) so 6 of the 8 goals were at the Kop end and i was so close to the action. I was also sat next to a Man U fan who had borrowed my brothers season ticket so his face of disbelief was priceless.

1) All of the wembleys - yes even the ones we lost. Palace was my fave.

2) City 3 Arsenal 3

3) Madrid at home

4) Opening day at roker park years ago and steve corica scoring and ending up in a huge surge on the terrace

5) Drab 0 City 4 wasnt there but in a packed working mans club full of city fans and it was mental

6) Brian Little and MON years :(

Great memories. You must be about the same age as me as I started going with my Dad at the same time. That WBA game it was my first ever night match and I remember the ball getting stuck in the crossbar. I remember them announcing at the Port Vale match a few weeks earlier that those who kept their ticket from that match would have a chance of getting playoff final tickets and everyone laughed. The run to the playoff final was just absurd, it'll never be beaten. I started secondary school that autumn so the whole period is memorable.

I remember the 3-0 win vs Spurs just after Diana died. That for me was an even better performance than the Sunderland 5-2. I went with my sister's boyfriend who had supported Spurs for quite a few years and I remember him telling me on the way out that Heskey's performance was as good as he had ever seen. Heskey was simply unplayable. I didn't appreciate it at the time.

In general I have great memories of that time. It'll never be matched, firstly because the game as changed, 96-97 was just before the money really started flooding in and we had a team of what you could call 'honest professionals'. Very talented players who probably didn't make millions from the game. But the main reason it'll never be that good again is the stadium. I appreciate the efforts some fans have put in to improve the atmosphere and it can be great down there at times, but it's not Filbo.

I'm getting all misty eyed just writing this. Can you imagine being one of these United or Liverpool fans from Milton Keynes and seeing them play twice in your life? Must be awful.

My favourite ever moment is in my sig

Silence of the rams

Ian Marshal taking the lead at Atletico Madrid in European Cup football, until they equalised... we were invincible in those days

Joachim's goal at Barnsley, I was perfectly in line with it curving in and could see it all the way, our away support was amazing!

Joachim's goal at City Ground Vs Pompey, we were all in the Trent End. Not only a great goal but a great moment

Claridge's goal Vs Palace at Wembley. SCENES!

Claridge's goal Vs Middlesbrough at Hillsborough

Would of only been a nipper at the time, but the UEFA Cup game at home to Red Star Belgrade, I'll always remember the mist that covered our pitch that night and vivid memories of Gerry Taggarts header.

Too many - sorry about that...

1/ My first away game, against Fulham March 1983. We were seven points adrift of them for promotion and we needed to win. Leicester support was incredible and ITV covered the game. Ian Wilson scored and we won 1-0. Fulham fell apart after that and it went down to the final game of the season. City held an already relegated Burnley to a draw and Fulham lost to Derby during that infamous debacle at the Baseball Ground – which reminds me of….

2/ 1985, City vs Burton Albion in the F.A. Cup Third Round at the Baseball Ground…what could possibly go wrong?

3/ Lineker’s final home game for City in which he scored a hat trick against Sunderland. Actually, have I imagined this? It may have been two, and he narrowly missed a third. I recall the Sunderland fans despite the fact that they were already relegated, doing the conga around the East Stand. Lineker’s final game for City was away to Luton and I watched us lose 4-0 –(that damn green and gold strip again). On his return to Filbert Street we beat Everton 2-1 was it? – which was the equivalent of beating Chelsea today. I remember Bright scoring the winner.

4/ Talking of Sunderland – Stan’s fabled hat trick!

5/ Pontus Kamark completely marking Juninho out of his first Wembley appearance…

6/ …then, beating ‘Boro in the replay at Hillsborough in which he did exactly the same thing.

7/ Every goal ever scored by Andy Peake

8/ That home game against Arsenal

9/ Gary Coatsworth scoring at home in an otherwise typically dull encounter Luton Town. Aside from the fact that it was a 35 yard screamer into the top corner from a half volley, it was particularly memorable because a second before someone asked me what I thought of him. I replied that he should have stuck to his career in panel beating – playing for Leicester at that time required infinitely less finesse.

10/ Walshy’s winner. Beating Derby at Wembley and later being told to **** off by Marco Gabbiadini who had been foolish enough not only to drive home himself, but unbelievably, to stop in the process at the Blue Boar Service Station (I’m not making this up). Perhaps the best thing that Brian Little did was converting Walshy to a striker. Yeah, we became masters of the long ball in the process, but Elliot’s two headed goals against Tranmere at Wembley demonstrate how devastating a towering centre back can be up front given the right service. Marcin Wasilewski would undoubtably agree.

11/ Following incessant provocation – of which I am far from proud - being offered out by Martin Hodge who strode up to the Kop fence after we beat Wednesday at home. I wonder whether he remembered this when he signed for us several years later?

12/ Leicester v Liverpool April 1984. One of the greatest end to end games of football I have ever had the privilege to witness. No one ever seems to remember this – if you can, look it up.

13/ Not a single moment or event in itself, but Steve Claridge’s unbelievable run of form following a thyroid problem which had prompted Barry Fry to offload him from Birmingham. A typically astute Martin O’Neil realised his massive potential and he propelled us to the 1996 play off's culminating in his goal at Wembley.

14/ Swindon play off. Yeah we lost – but what a ****ing game!

15/ Already mentioned – but Muzzy’s goal against Grimsby – and his strike against Spurs

16/ I once heard a tackle by Big Bob Hazel from the very back of the double decker.

17/ Julian Joachim scoring against Barnsley at Oakwell. Wasn’t this up for goal of the season? I’m sure he did something similar down at Fratton Park in the play off’s but I definitely remember his goal at the City ground in the home leg (the Carling Stand was under construction). He split the Pompey defence like Moses parting the Red Sea and I still laugh when I see it.

18/ My first home game was against Bristol City which was utterly forgettable were it not for the debut of Larry May. I’m now  remembering a midweek trip to Loftus Road about '94 when a flu virus had devastated Belvoir Drive that same week and a young local lad from the same school as Lineker made his first appearance. He was so unknown, he didn’t even have a squad number at the time.

19/ In November 1985 we beat Man U 3 -0 at home. Last September was sweeter though! The only time I've seen such a suicidal defence was a game in which we kept knocking it over the top of Ardiles's 93- 94 Spurs side and David Lowe scored the winner.

20/ Oh yeah,  then there was some game against Shrewsbury Town in 1982!
