AyewJoking Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Still baffles me how no one spotted this bloke playing for Le Havre. Another reason to keep our current regime tbh, how many other scouting networks are going to whip players like this out for 400k. Err, I'm sure somebody spotted him?
Brooksy Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 I think he'll go to Sunderland if they stay up, probably around 3-4 million. Imagine this place if we let him go for £3mil
davieG Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 I've just checked, he is a year into a 3 1/2 year contract, As long as he doesn't have a release clause I wouldn't sell unless it was for silly money, The season we went down with Adams and kept Izzet we were immense, Izzet was just a cut above almost everyone in the league. I feel with Mahrez we would have similar. Of course money talks, and with the new premiership contract we might have no choice, Hardly anyone could afford Izzet after Elsom gave them all massive contract improvements whereas now for any half decent established Pl team 10 to 12 mill is peanuts
Bayfox Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 £10million+ wow some of you overrate him. not really. you think he's a better or worse player than mccormack? and who has the potential to be a better player over the next 10 years. that said knowing us, we will get 5 for him.
yorkie1999 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 How much are we going to pay for that new striker in 4 years time.

Another reason to keep our current regime tbh, how many other scouting networks are going to whip players like this out for 400k. Kramaric being scouted two years prior to us actually buying him as well. We've got one of the best scouting set ups in the country IMO.

No opinion of McCormack that was stupid transfer which rarely happens. While I rate Mahrez his end product has to improve before he plays for a "top" club. His chance at Arsenal he should have hit the target minimum, for instance.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 People say they don't want to lose Mahrez but say we over value him? In the current market we could justify a fee of around £6-7million for him. An established international now and a talented PL winger with more development to come. If this situation does arrise in the future and the interest in Mahrez is concrete I'd love nothing more than the club to slap a £10million price tag on him and play hardball with every f**ker that comes knocking. We ourselves have been caught out like this with player fees in the past. But like I said in my last post it all depends on the whether the player wants to stay or not. Kramaric being scouted two years prior to us actually buying him as well. We've got one of the best scouting set ups in the country IMO. This. If Pearson was to be sacked, the likelihood is Steve Walsh would also walk and loosing him from the scouting/recruitment set up would be a bitter blow imo.

MHC Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 If we are to sell Mahrez then it should be for no less then 10 million. We aren't a selling club, we don't need the money and even if Mahrez wanted to leave he should understand that if a potential club really wanted him they would pay the 10+ million required that he is most certainly worth. If clubs want him on the cheap then I think we should tell them to sod off, clubs have our pants down over transfers so why shouldn't we? I personally think we should slap a 20 million price tag on him and see what happens.
Torten Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Anywhere above £6m will do for me Good money to invest in the squad should we somehow go down

He will be demoralised as we are pricing him out of a move, his form will plummet and we will sell him for peanuts or lose him when his contract expires.
The Doctor Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 £12m or so wouldn't be unreasonable - He's an established international player with a good season under his belt in terms of individual performances - similar to Tadic last year, who went to Soton for £11m. Add into that Mahrez still being young and nowhere near the prime of his career and the potential should add a bit onto the price tag. If he left and didn't become our record sale, we'll have been conned.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 If we went down I think we could fend off interest until January for him. We usually tell teams to walk on, but that all depends on if he wants to stay or not. He's a cut above the Championship and probably the most talented player I've ever seen in a Leicester shirt but he's not the complete article yet. It all depends if he wants to continue developing with us or move on to a bigger stage. I could see him ending up at Southampton, Swansea or Everton. All well and good but he's out of contract in summer 2016 - as much as it pains me to say it I'd sooner cash in this summer than have him leave for either a minimal amount in January or heaven forbid free later down the line.
ronnup Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Don't sell anyone. Don't see why we have to, they have contracts they can play for them.
MHC Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 He will be demoralised as we are pricing him out of a move, his form will plummet and we will sell him for peanuts or lose him when his contract expires. It would be more of a "if you think you're getting him for cheap, think again" statement rather then a "20 million, no less" statement. Chelsea paid 11 million for Salah and Liverpool paid 20 million for Markovic yet Mahrez is better then both of them, Lamela cost Spurs 30 million and he is nowhere near that valuation. Surely we could sell him to the highest bidder for around 15 million because in this market he is surely worth it. My point is if Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs are daft enough to pay the prices they paid for those players then they would be daft enough to pay over the odds for a player tried and tested at Premier League level.

Summer 2017 isn't it, so even come next January he'd have 18 months left and we could still command a reasonable fee.
MHC Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 20 million! Salah 11 million Markovic 20 million Lamela 30 million How much do you think we could get for Mahrez?
Spiritwalker Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Why not loan him to a Prem team. If we came back up at the first attempt we could have him back with 1.5 yrs left on his contract, if we didn't we could sell him at the end of next season.
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 The fact that he tore them apart at will on Tuesday suggests otherwise imo. And Vardy could play for United on that logic
AKCJ Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 Zaha - 15m Tadic - 10.9m Chadli - 7m Mane - 11.9m Cabella - 10m McGeady - ~10m Salah - 11m Snodgrass - 9m Good wingers don't go for peanuts. I'd be frustrated if Mahrez makes less than Robert Snodgrass.
Unabomber Posted 14 February 2015 Posted 14 February 2015 And Vardy could play for United on that logic Mahrez does it pretty much every game though so there goes that logic.
