Captain of our U/18s and having another cracking game at LEFT BACK today, how soon before he gets a look in? Keenan King too as he is also a great prospect.....

He won't just get thrown into a team battling relegation. If we're safe or already relegated with a few games to play then I welcome moves like playing younger players.

If we're safe with a few to go?? Most optimistic post ever

What's the point in not being optimistic? Got to believe we can do it, even if it is impossible.

Hopefully a few will go down on Weds night to watch the boys in the Youth FA Cup Quarter Final

Will be very interesting to read the comments on King ....

Chilwell is class but not ready yet for first team duties

Been said before - Nigel doesn't trust youth.

Hopefully these players won't become frustrated and go elsewhere.

King, Moore and Jeff Schlupp have all come up from the youth team under Pearson. That's not a bad average.

Does he not?

King played his first full season under Pearson, something I don't think was expected when we had other players, such as Kishishev, at the club at that time. Pearson also handed debuts to Max Gradel and Liam Moore. Mattock featured heavily in 2008/09 too, as has Jeff Schlupp (ok handed a debut under Sven but Pearson could have looked for another option).

And that's not even including the likes of Hobbs (how old was he when he first signed for us, 21?). And at Hull, the same again with the likes of Chester and Brady.

How have you come to that conclusion?

It'll be ages before these guys get a look in in the first-team, though. Not to say Nigel doesn't trust youth; you just have to take in to consideration where we are as a club and if it's right for them to be playing. Think about what level they are playing at at the moment, too.

Hamza is the one. He'll become a star, hope its with us. Loves a tackle, we could do with him now. Nice lad as well, hope he keeps his feet on the ground, unlike a lot of young players.

general way of getting in under pearson is to go out on loan and make an impact, like Jeff and Moore did. King went straight in due to situation we were in at the time.

One positive of relegation would be to hopefully see some of these youngsters come in.

Unfair. How many of our youngsters he hasn't played have gone on to do better than Leicester? Not a single one.

You mean like the majority of players coming through the (LCFC) academy each year and leaving the club after a while, trying to find their luck elsewhere?

It's not like Leics has an overabundance of raw diamonds at its disposal, is it?

Even if you've got a good youth setup, it's like the lottery finding good talent (in your immediate region or county). The big clubs are chasing after prospects all across the country, so you'd be glad to be able to hold onto a few of your own.

All I will say is this...

Southampton...fighting to finish in the top 4 and get their highest league finish ever....And they are playing as much youth as ever.

Give them a chance now....Southampton play young lads at the top level who have never played professional football.

Moore was still just18 when Nigel gave him his first start. He had played elsewhere on loan. King had played 11 times in the relegation season and was already 20 in the league 2 season when Nigel picked him a lot. Hardly a risk.

The Southampton point above is relevant. Other clubs play their 18 year olds if they are up to it. They get pleasant surprises. either ours aren't up to it or Nigel doesn't trust them. Which is it?
