ADK Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 We were unlucky really. Although the game was open we had more chances and scored the better goals. Bar Upson being skinned for pace I wouldn't even say our defending was particularly poor given the decision to keep the game open. We probably gave Spurs about an equal number of chances to Hull the week before but conceded a harsh penalty and two deflected own goals while Kane did a better job than Jelavic(sp?) of scoring an open goal. Our finishing was decent, ok we could have scored more but we scored 3 which is quite acceptable.
ealingfox Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Where have they found the justification for giving the 2nd to Kane? There's no way that was on target. Didn't realise it was such a freak goal as well, our luck really is a joke.
Merging Cultures Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Finally watching the second half now. Why TF we haven't been playing Was is beyond me.
weller54 Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Finally watching the second half now. Why TF we haven't been playing Was is beyond me. ..because Nige knows best!!!!
Merging Cultures Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 I can see why the peno against Nugent was given. Nugent should have just smacked it out though and not tried to fanny about.
jamesmilner Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 After the huge effort and success to get the 2 goals back , the game was only going to change after a mistake or quality piece of play . Unfortunately that woeful touch from Nugent in the box, lead to that dubious penalty . THAT awful touch cost us the game , it just knocked the wind out of the sails and evoked their fans too . So unlucky but a victim of our own doing once again .
orangecity23 Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 We've played Spurs three times this season. First game, at home, we lose by a single goal after an absolute stonewall penalty on Vardy isn't given. Cup game, we win, but again, clear penalty on Kramaric isn't given, and he's booked for a dive, to add insult to injury. Away league game, we lose by a single goal, after Spurs get given a penalty when all replays show it clearly isn't a pen. It's ok though, refs don't favour certain teams, these things even themselves out over the course of a season
Dan Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Is it fair to say the penalty is in the "seen them given" bracket? At first glance i thought it was stone wall, but seeing it again a few times, it was a soft one. Having said that, if it was a decision going our way, id be screaming for it and want it to be given. So im not sure about it. I dont want to go down the road of blaming referees though. Every team at the bottom can have their own hard luck stories, i heard Dyche talking about penalties they havent had at Burnley, so its not just us. As a fan, you dont remember all the decisions you get in your favour, only the dodgy ones against so im not going to be overly critical. I can believe every team has had decisions go against them, but it's the lack that go for us that I can't get over. I think Huddlestone's red aside (and I'd say that was 50/50) we've had not a single decision of significance go our way since Vardy's penalty against Man Utd. Compare that to Burnley completely robbing Chelsea, where have we had that recently? I'm absolutely convinced there's something against us. Whether it's our players not fighting for the decisions hard enough, Pearson being disliked or referees instinctively thinking back to the Vardy decision, there's absolutely no way we can be on the end of it this often by chance.

It's ok though, refs don't favour certain teams, these things even themselves out over the course of a season I'm not gonna argue about the penalties we should have had or penalties that shouldn't have been given but were and ****ed us over, but the first game, at home, we lose by a single goal...not because we weren't given a penalty, but because the wall split like pussies, if they had some balls, stood tall, were willing the take a shot at them it wouldn't have given Eriksen the option to hit it low, infact even pass it into the back of the net. 2nd game we won, weren't given a penalty which should have been but we won - it's mention every now and again but not alot is made of it, because we won. Yesterday, we lost because of poor defending and only looked good when chasing the game, I said earlier in the thread when we got it back to 2-2 we sat back again, inviting pressure, now the penalty changed the game (Obviously), but had the penalty not been given I could only see 2 outcomes, the first - we'd have seen the game out for a draw, which was no good for us anyway, we got ourselves back in the game and then seemed happy to take a draw, the second outcome - Tottenham score off their own will thanks to us inviting the pressure upon ourselves. Now that doesn't make it right or excuse a wrongly given penalty against us but let's have abit of balance again and look a little closer to home rather than living on our unlucky tag. The only reason we scored a third was because we were chasing the game and after going down 4-2 we had to get ourselves back in the game but ran out of time.
Master Fox Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 I think the defeat yesterday has been the hardest to swallow so far. It's still bothering me.
weller54 Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 I think the defeat yesterday has been the hardest to swallow so far. It's still bothering me. Really?.. We've got enough to chose from!!!?
Harry - LCFC Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 If we play like that against West Ham I expect to win. We weren't great defensively but we were heavily punished for our mistakes - that won't happen every game. The back five has worked fine when we've attacked against Arsenal, Everton and Spurs which makes me think it might be the right. formation.
desertfox2 Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 I think the defeat yesterday has been the hardest to swallow so far. It's still bothering me. Draw against Burnley for me. That was 2 points thrown away.
Foxey id Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Haha that decision is an absolute disgrace. You've got to be quite special to claim there isn't some form of bias here. It doesn't happen this often by chance. Big Club v Small Club City will get those decisions next season in the Champonship
Foxey id Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Not a penalty, would've said the same had it been given our way. Nugent is an impressive long range player, loves a good effort from a fair way out. Very much an instinct player. No you wouldnt you would have been smiling from ear to ear
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Jeepers creepers, Pearson is looking ten years older, than at this time last year. He looks like a man troubled by demons.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Nugent gets tackled by Rose (a movement by Rose towards Nugent), they collide in the tackle (due to Rose making contact with Nugent), both hit the floor because of the impact of the collision... and that's a penalty now is it?! Ridiculous decision.

foxinsocks Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Finally watching the second half now. Why TF we haven't been playing Was is beyond me. Was is an inspiration to the rest of the team. He should be the first cb on the sheet

Ridiculous decision. It is if we're the defending team, didn't you get the memo?
AyewJoking Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 Unlucky to score 3 at the Lane and still come home empty handed. Our shít defending isnt funny anymore but if we play 3 up top every game from now on at least we will be entertained.
Leicesterpool Posted 22 March 2015 Posted 22 March 2015 My question to Mike Dean would be that what did you see? Because his positioning is poor. The view from his angle would be too difficult to tell. What did he see to say that's a penalty. It was a decision which occurs only at the grounds of the top 7. Rose collided into the back of Nugent. It was certainly too unclear at real time to give any decision. However why we play that formation when teams have one up front I do not know. It allows the amc in the case of Eriksens to wander around without being marked. It was an awkward position for Dean to see, both players looked like they tackled each other. A decision like that you give Nugent the benefit of the doubt, as typically the big clubs get protected by the refs. This season as been the worse for Leicester for penalty's being given that weren't.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 It is if we're the defending team, didn't you get the memo? So you can win a penalty for tackling someone now just because they're defending at the time?
The Doctor Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 So you can win a penalty for tackling someone now just because they're defending at the time? I think you missed my sarcasm. I was bemoaning the seeming double standards shown towards vs against us - where being hacked down in the box isn't a foul if it's done to us but breathing near an opposing player is if done by us. I'm not buying that it's bad luck any more - I reckon refs are subconsciously screwing us over thinking that they're evening up the first penalty vs man utd.
