Albert Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Personally I wouldn't take any QPR players bar Austin (he seems to be moving to bigger things though) or Barton. Barton's probably a bit too unreliable and temperamental so i'd say no thanks. Matty Philips & Leroy Fer all day long
MC Prussian Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Nicky Maynard, recently released by Cardiff... More likely to return to Bristol City now that they're Championship material again...
Gerard Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Huth, another CB and another central MF. Too many people on here want to see a ridiculous influx of new players and a lot mentioned are no better than what we have. Get Huth in and another two quality players.
kingfox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 CB - Robert Huth will be top priority, think another CB besides Huth will be needed though. We were linked with Tomas Sivok in January, who is out of contract in the summer, so he could be a possibility. We may opt for someone young on loan though, Diego Reyes of Porto looks to be available. LWB - Got to take a look at Ligue 1 for the duo of Daniel Wass & Raphael Guerreiro, both of whom have had good seasons. CM - Really need to add an international quality midfielder in my opinion, we spent big on strikers now I think Pearson needs to spend big on a CM. Selcuk Inan was linked before, someone said CSKA Moscow are in financial difficulty so Pontus Wernbloom perhaps. CAM - If Mahrez stays he needs competition, Holtby has been poor in Germany, Spurs will probably make him available so could be worth a gamble. Mentioned Borek Dockal in January, probably wouldn't cost much but capable of scoring & assisting. ST - Probably won't be a priority, might not even buy another striker but if he does, wouldn't surprise me if he goes for Okazaki again. No doubt we will be linked with Charlie Austin if we stay up. At least five signings needed I think, got to bolster that defence & add a quality midfielder.

I love the way Albrighton has been delivering the ball but Inan would give us another level in set-piece situations.
LCCFox96 Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 A quick look online and Michel Bastos is out of contract at Sao Paulo this season. I remember him playing well for Brazil in the LW, LWB and LB roles, has a good set piece on him and top flight/European experience at Lille, Lyon, Schalke and Roma. At 31, going on 32, we could be his last shot a PL football and on a free transfer he could compliment Schlupp really well in the squad.
Haydos Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Huth, another CB and another central MF. Too many people on here want to see a ridiculous influx of new players and a lot mentioned are no better than what we have. Get Huth in and another two quality players. Taylor-Fletcher isn't good enough. Bakayogo isn't good enough. Konchesky isn't good enough. Simpson isn't good enough. Wood isn't good enough. Upson is not reliable enough and still unproven. These all need replacing.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 John Flanagan is out of contract, awful luck with injuries and not sure when he's due to return but he looked a tidy player not long back - still young, too. Likewise Yousuff Mulumbu, not sure if he's crocked at the moment but someone of that ilk would be perfect for us.
LCCFox96 Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Taylor-Fletcher isn't good enough. Bakayogo isn't good enough. Konchesky isn't good enough. Simpson isn't good enough. Wood isn't good enough. Upson is not reliable enough and still unproven. These all need replacing. You could argue that as Taylor-Fletcher and Bakayogo have been involved for a combined total of 20 minutes this season they are complete fringe players, hence not needed at all and hence not needing to be replaced. They will likely be just released from their contracts and their wages will be put towards another the wage packet of another higher quality player as part of trimming the squad into a 'quality, not quantity mould'. The same could be said for the likes of Gallagher. I don't think a replacement is demanded for every player we release/sell, particularly if we want to assure all players of some semi-regular first team role at a minimum.

I don't think a replacement is demanded for every player we release/sell, particularly if we want to assure all players of some semi-regular first team role at a minimum. We still want a squad of 25 players. It's my mantra (as what I want from Leicester City, and also on Football Manager ) that if players are leaving or being replaced then their replacement should be someone who will contend for a first team place where possible. This means that we don't buy a back up left back, we buy someone who we think may be better than Schlupp. Same with Simpson and Upson. I know squad players are important and financial constraints are always there but in my opinion it's a way to avoid stagnation. 2 strong players in each position is a good template, I think Mourinho shares the same belief, “We have two players almost for every position, some more experienced, some with more potential for growth”. Schmeichel + Hamer De Laet + Simpson Schlupp + Konchesky Was + Upson Wes + Moore Huth Cambiasso + Hammond Drinkwater + King James + Albrighton Ulloa + Kramaric Vardy + Nugent Mahrez + Knockaert That's 23 players that fit that mould, If any of those leave they need replacing with players who are capable of playing an extended period of first time football.
Stevosevic Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 We can't keep 25 players who believe they should be playing every week happy - Chelsea can. We need players like Hammond to make up the numbers, people happy to not play as much but a good attitude when they do.
benpicko Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Would love Bellerin, seems like a great player. Though it depends on if we stick with this 352, Albrighton has been a perfect rwb. There is absolutely no chance we'd get Bellerin, at all, and we've got Albrighton as a starter and De Laet as a back-up who also loves getting forward so I'm not sure it's that much of a priority as LWB is, we're ****ed whenever Schlupp's injured

Agreed with these as the positions we need, other than striker, probably fine there, think we'll get Huth and a young CB rather than another 30+ year old as well.

A left sided defender that can attack is hopefully 2nd on Pearson's shopping list behind signing Huth. That Jetro Willems is a decent player in the Dutch league, but it is a gamble. If Sunderland go down I quite like Van Aanholt. But I think they will stay up.
wolfgang amadeus Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 If Hull go down I reckon Robertson would be worth a shot, has looked solid every time I've seen him.

We need players like Hammond to make up the numbers, people happy to not play as much but a good attitude when they do. I said 23, or more likely 22. We can do, we're doing it at the moment with 21 if you take away Upson and Hammond. We do need players like Hammond but I'm betting his attitude is a big part of why he's here still. He feels valued by Pearson and when he still fights for his place and regularly plays a part.
BosomBouncer Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Anyone asking about Vietto, still at Villarreal (as you'd expect in his first season) but talks of being a Liverpool & Arsenal target with figures floating around at about £30 million. Not for us methinks. Amazing how much one good season can inflate a price. 12 goals in 31 is rather decent, mind.
General Smuts Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Luke Garbutt out of contract at Everton. Would be a solid signing to add competition at that left wing back spot. Has played European football this season.
Tielemans63 Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 John Flanagan is out of contract, awful luck with injuries and not sure when he's due to return but he looked a tidy player not long back - still young too. I'd agree mate, cracking young player but I'm sure I've read just in the last few weeks that he's out for about 9 months or something daft with another injury.
desertfox2 Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 A player that might be be worth a punt is wahbi khazri from Bordeaux. I lived there for a while and am still in touch with some Bordeaux fans. They say he's a great player and know their football. I hadn't heard of him before that but checked his stats and doesn't look bad at all. Attacking midfielder mainly through the middle but can play left or right. 9 goals in 30 games in the French league isn't bad. 24 years old and scored 6 in 13 for tunisia. Good goalscoring record for a midfielder. Supposedly has a lot of assists as well. Bordeaux don't usually pay a lot and generally are a bit of a selling club.
TJB-fox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Garbutt would be a terrific signing and think Everton should do everything they can to keep him. However, having two relatively inexperienced left backs would worry me as prem experience is what we've missed most this year
desertfox2 Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 https://youtu.be/JPFehMH3nVkI know it's only a youtube vid but it's ligue 1 not some iran league... nickname is wahbinho so just for that it's worth a look. The penalty puts me off a bit, brings back bad memories
4everfox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 Ladislav Krejci. Left winger who plies his trade in the Czech Republic playing for Sparta Prague, 22 years old. Quick and unpredictable, similar to our Riyad. Is a current international.
GloverFox Posted 11 May 2015 Posted 11 May 2015 I just reckon on a few minor strengthening tweaks, with exceptional care to the temperament and not 'just' technical ability of anyone brought in ... after all the squad now appears to be harmonious and pulling together and I think that's the 'magic' part of the finale run we are witnessing? Trippier would be a great asset and has shown a huge amount of character for Burnley (... a team which I would have liked to see stay up with us, if indeed we do manage that feat!) but again he has to be able to slot in and bind with the current players. Huth has just been so effective for us that we really should prioritise getting him in on a good deal, long one to boot and he would be my Captain also (but hey ... perhaps it's a good job I'm not in charge!) But Austin! ... really? ... at the end of the Man City game he looked like a guy that really didn't give a shit about the result, with the rather stupid and smug grin on his face! ... No, he's already agreed his next move and it will be a paper-chase ( ... follow the money!) and that excludes the likes of us (thank goodness!), we need to invest yes but be wise and stay real
