CosbehFox Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Claudio Beauvue. Guingamp. Already said he wants a move to the PL. Attacking midfield. 25 goals in 49 games which includes a run in the Europa League.
MC Prussian Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 If Hamburg go down: Rene Adler Would be sniffed at by a lot of bigger clubs though More likely to nab Alexandru Maxim off Stuttgart's hands. Or Antonio Rüdiger. That is one bad-ass mofo. And he's faaaaast.
Tielemans63 Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Mate at work is a Brentford fan and raves about a young lad they've had on loan from spurs,Alex Pritchard. 22 years old CM, scored 12 goals and was their POTS apparently. Not broken into the spurs side yet but has bags of potential apparently. Would fit the Pearson mould.

I posted in the other thread weren't we linked with him a few years back when he was on loan at swindon? possibly a long term target if so

LCFC FOX Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 I think Upson could get another year. A full pre season to get fit he could get back on form again. I know he's old but on form he'd be a good back up. Wasyl needs another year too
AKCJ Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 If Middlesbrough don't get promoted, how about Grant Leadbitter? I've always rated him and seems a 'Pearson type signing'. Not sure he's any better than what we have now though, I guess. Up there with the Cattermole shout.
klevin Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 I think Upson could get another year. A full pre season to get fit he could get back on form again. I know he's old but on form he'd be a good back up. Wasyl needs another year too Upson has good positional play and obviously a good football brain, but he's one of the slowest footballers I've ever seen. The goal at Spurs when Townsend (yes I know he's v fast) took him on, it looked like he was running into a 100mph wind.

Wasyl needs another year too But in giving both Wasilewski and Upson new deals, keeping Morgan, likely welcoming Moore back into the fold and hopefully getting Huth permanently we will still have the 5 same CB's as this season leaving us little room to strengthen an area we know we need to improve in. One of either Upson or Wasilewski will likely be moved on to allow for another central defensive player to come in. I'd personally prefer to keep Wasilewski as he looks equally adept on the pitch and has kept himself fit.
TJB-fox Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Can you explain why he would? He didn't play much at Man City, hasn't played much at Fiorentina. He's made 18 league appearances in the last 3 years. Not worth the risk imo and not the type of person Pearson likes to bring in. Huth was injured all year before coming to us and hadn't played much in the past season, now he's one of our key men. Now, I'm not saying Richards situtation is identical, because he hasn't played as much as Huth in his whole career. But, someone with a lot of experience, and his talent would be more than welcome over RDL and Danny Simpson in my opinion! If his wages were too much though id rather we go for someobody like Trippier, Andreas Beck, Adam Matthews etc

I'd personally prefer to keep Wasilewski as he looks equally adept on the pitch and has kept himself fit. You're absolutely right. I would be shocked if Upson gets another contract. Let's face it - he's past it. He's sooooo sloooow, and clearly very injury prone. He's probably a good experienced player to have around the dressing room, but we can do better ability-wise. If I was NP, I'd let him go. Obviously, I'd try to sign Huth permanently, or someone similar if that's not possible, and I'd sign another CB to fight for a first team place to replace Upson. I'd keep Morgan and Wasilewski, and loan Moore out for the whole season (with the possibility of recalling him if we need to). Like someone else suggested, I'd loan Moore to a Championship side who will probably struggle. That way he'd have more defending to do. Wasilewski's still got it. He'd be a good squad player for another season. If it's a choice between him and Upson, then I think the decision is easy.

Looks like a great player. I thought Guingamp were playing him up front though. He started as an attacking midfielder but looks like a striker. Very good shout if he can play midfield.
foxfanazer Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Huth Huth Huth Huth Seriously though he is 100% priority
tom27111 Posted 9 May 2015 Posted 9 May 2015 Shouldn't mind seeing us try to nick Danny Ings Why? 10 goals in 35 appearances this season. Compare that to 12 in 37 for Ulloa. Ings is one of the most over rated players in the league. Great, he's English. So what?
st albans fox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Huth Charlie Adam Nathan Dyer Kieron Trippier Adam not fit enough for Nigel's way. Dyer lacks a bit of 'collective responsibility'. Tripper I can understand though I doubt burnley need nor to want to sell him. Behind the scenes, we will have been planning for the prem again whilst we weren't dead and buried. I hope they have made better plans than last year! With matty's injury, that's even more important now
jdean Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Huth N'zonzi Shane Long Would like Januzaj and Hernandez from United on loan deals, highly doubtful though. Ideally we will get some players who we have not heard of before, need 1cb if can't get Huth, maybe 2 CM if we lose Cambiasso as James is injured, and 1 Striker to partner Vardy.

If we stuck with this formation, the thought of Trippier on the right and Jeff on the left is very exciting. I see Schlupp as being one of the best young wing backs in the Prem. same with Trippier. This thing about Burnley not wanting to sell.....well Burnley will be a second tier club..hopefully we will still be a top flight club. We need to ensure we identify targets early..and secure them (within reason). No more of this thing about players not wanting to join us. We would be in our second season in the best division on the planet and we would need to show some ambition. If the likes of Trippier is our target...let's get him. We need to be prudent, but more ambitious next season (if we stay up). Same with Huth...if he's available...let's get him.
VLC86 Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 . Ideally we will get some players who we have not heard of before, Brilliant, players we have never heard of are always the best.

One thing I think is safe to say is that, irrespective of players available at the time, the club (both the owners and the management, including Pearson) won't want to replicate the rather poor summer last year, when we either couldn't attract more appropriate signings due to our status, lack of attractive propositions or because we didn't act fast enough. Anyway, I'm confident we have transfer targets in sight - no matter what division we'll play in this August.
