Next season who would you like to see come in?

Dante is currently 4th choice at Bayern (=unwanted), coming near the end of his career and probably would fancy playing in England.

Also, he strikes me as a model professional, hardly makes the papers with off-field antics or scandals and he's quite reliable.

26 appearances for Bayern this season, 7 in the Champions League - hardly denotes 4th choice. Further, 31 for a CB isn't the same as 34 for a CM. Same age as Big Wes and 3 years younger than Big Was. As I mentioned earlier, rumoured that United were interested last year. I'd love to sign him, really. But there's optimism and then there's this...

He also said in April that he wanted to stay, amid rumours he was ready to leave.

I take that info off kicker and they're usually VERY reliable.

As for the "4th choice" argument, he may have played enough times this season, but when we're looking ahead, he is centre-back No. 4 behind Martinez, Boateng and Benatia - even though I don't rate the latter at all.

And 31 for a centre-back is in fact rather old - you see few defenders being able to keep it up past the age of 35 - so I take it he has another three to four good years in him.

He has a contract until the summer of 2017, so why couldn't Bayern loan him out, you think?

I must admit, I've never read anything from so I can't pass comment on the reliability of the information. He may well be behind those players currently, however based on his showing against Barcelona over the two legs, Benatia (and to an extent Boateng, too) may well be dropped at some point, as they handled the threat of Barcelona pretty poorly. I'd agree that they're not really up to scratch for a team such as Bayern, but Guardiola knows best  :P .

I don't agree that 31 is particularly old for a CB. Yes, he's getting on, but as you say I reckon he's got at least 3/4 good years left in him, at the top of the elite leagues in Europe.

A loan is again unlikely in my opinion, but perhaps more likely. I'd imagine he's on massive wages and as I said, he's recently said he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Robert Huth

Andy Robertson

Obi Mikel /Micheal Essien

Charlie Adam

Charlie Austin

... Will be my main priorities.

We have a strong team on paper with a formation that suits. I worry about the depth in the squad and this needs sorting out with players that are better than what we have.

Didn't Guardiola recently say he wished the team was 11 Dantes? Doesn't sound like someone they'd let go.

I presume we'll be back in for Okazaki.

Priority is to sign Huth on permanent deal.

Then to upgrade on Konchesky and Simpson. The 3-4-1-2 system is working at the moment but if we need to revert to a four at the back we need improve both fullbacks.

Lastly, replace Knockaert, Hammond, Wood and Upson if the right players become available.

My top two buys are both at the back; Huth (permanent) is a must and as you all know, I am a big fan of George Friend at Boro and we all seem to like Mings at Ipswich - one of them will lose out on promotion, so get recruiting now for our new Left Back.

As for elsewhere, need reinforcement in Midfield, and if we wish to buy more new Strikers - if Ings was a possibility, I'd love him here - Austin can score goals but I get the impression that Danny Ings is a more grounded sort (perhaps I am wrong).

Overseas recruitment will happen again and I wouldn't be surprised if we have another Cambiasso type deal up our sleeves.

One request though Top, Vichai and Nigel - PLEASE don't approach things this summer like last time.

Left back - Luke Garbutt

Central midfield - Davy Klaassen and Youssouf Mulumbu

Centre backs - John Anthony Brooks and Fabian Schar (if we can't keep Huth)

Hey we can all dream can't we?!?!?!  :pearson:

Isn't Centre back no.4 the second choice?

What has Ozakaki been doing since we were interested? Has he had a good few months?

Gourcuff

Agreed cb and lb have to be the priority but I don't think friend fits the bill he just dosent have the pace to fit into our way of play... mins on the other hand could be perfect

Sorry, not playing along like Haydos does. Not biting. Keep on playing, though.

Don't you understand? Each team has 2CBs playing at a time, therefore even if he's the fourth best he's the backup. Seems you were overexaggerating to make effect.

we wont thats why we got rid of Terry Robinson just before the January transfer window because he was a tight ****.

I assume we will splash the cash on a few very good players keeping our new formation and aim for a very comfortable table position. i think around 9th 10th 11th is achievable.

The whole Bayern defense looked bad yesterday but I think even Huth, Wes and Was would struggle against Barca.

Given that West Ham, Sunderland and Newcastle will be looking for new Managers, we should aim to get our business done early.   The less competition the better.

E.g. Virgil van Dijk - sign him up, surely he won't go to Sunderland until he knows who the manager is.

Pearson, will now take a total different approach, and view of the transfer market.

BUT.... Fox fans, dont go over the top in expectations..!!!!

Its not just about going after the players available, and believing we will get who we would like.

We have to face an important factor, we are not a fashionable club, never have been.

Bloomfield, Milne did manage this problem well, MON used his nous and enticed more than a couple of good experienced players.

Pearson might have some advantage if he could use the Cambiasso , Krameric grapevines.Plus obviously their own fishing scouts.

I do expect Moore, Lawrence and yes maybe even Simpson, to do some harder banging on the door...WILMA...!!!!!

Agree with all those posters tipping for an experienced LB and CB.If we close out a deal with a top midfielder that would be a massive plus.A couple of stocking fillers who can bring, youth 1st then 1-2 good pros, to compete and bring cover for injuries.I would not throw out players just for the sake of it, depends who we find, then Konch, Hammond, GTF, Upson,at first .and importantly just to improve the quality of our base.

one other thing posters should not forget, is how many of you collectively, wanted certain players never to be seen again in the first team,.......in fact every single hero of the last 10 games.

So Nigel I'll I leave it happily in your hands.

Mainz have bought a replacement for info.

Saw this earlier. Can definitely see us going back in for him. Putting two and two together you'd imagine a forward is leaving Mainz so it'd make sense, especially with him being a renowned hard worker which I think is vital to the way we play.

Can see it being like when we first went in for Vardy, wasn't it in January 2012? But Fleetwood wouldn't sell him to us until the summer as they thought it would cost them promotion. Sure enough, they got promoted and he joined us in July.

Posted

I honestly would rather have Ings than Austin simply because I think Ings suits the way we play more. Not denying for one minute that Austin's a better goalscorer, but would we have been better recently with say... Jermain Defoe in our team lately, or Vardy?

Fabian Schar would be a dream signing. As would any of them. Hood shout
