Devonfox1884 Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 (3-4-1-2) Kasper Huth Morgan Wasilewski/Moore (Don't rate Upson, depends if Was needs a rest) Albrighton Schlupp King/James (Depends If kingy needs a rest) Hammond Mahrez Kramaric Ulloa
RowlattsFox Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Personally I'd play our best side, and that means bringing in Schlupp and kramaric. Vardy could cause terry and Cahill all sorts of problems. The only player who could need a rest is cambiasso. If it turns out we're down by a couple of goals I would probably rest a couple then.
filbertway Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Probably rest Cambi, Vardy and Albrighton (as he has the most tiring role having to get up and down the pitch all game). It's all well and good saying, play the best team. The likelihood is, we play our best team and lose. Then we have 3 key players going into the Newcastle game more fatigued than their opposite number. That's without any knowledge on our players levels of fitness though. Discussions like this are rendered completely pointless when you consider that the backroom staff know what they are doing and correct decisions will most likely be madE (despite the moaning come 6:45 in the match day thread)

LCFC FOX Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Kasper De Laet Morgan Huth Schlupp Albrighton King Hammond Mahrez Ulloa Nugent Konchesky isn't good enough, cambiasso needs a rest as does Vardy imo. Perfect game for Hammond and hopefully Nugent is fit
CPW22 Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 I wouldn't like to second guess what happens in NP's head. Momentum is key for us, resting players ans putting in a poor performance could be detrimental to the Newcastle game. I'd like to see a set up similar to Arsenal away, absorb the pressure and play on the break. Kramaric has to start for me, I think he'll score too.

shade Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 play the best team and offer them a £50 note each if they win.
Fox_in_a_Box Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 id go for this GK - Kasper RWB - Albrighton CB - Was CB - Huth CB - Wes LWB - Schlupp CM - James CM - Lord Esteban CM - King RW - Mahrez ST - Nuge LW - Vardy Set up for the counter. You have 12 players in that team..
rico Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Strongest 11 every game until the end of the season, cant afford to take the foot off the gas and lose momentum at this stage of the season
Webbo Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Even if we played our strongest side Chelsea would still be favourites to win. Talking about choosing when we pick up our points assumes that we can win it and the other side don't have a say in it. Rest a few for Newcastle.
crisp packet Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Unless people carrying knocks? Why would you rest anybody? 5 games left we needs points ASAP. Strongest side please. Why write off three points?Chelsea will want to win the title at the bridge...
shailen Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 No-one's saying we don't want to be safe as soon as possible. Us at full strength is still almost certainly not going to beat even a weakened Chelsea team. Don't you agree? And if that's the case (which it is), then why not use it as an opportunity to get some fringe players match fit, and a give them a chance to show NP that they should be starting. Ulloa and Drinkwater aren't match fit. Kramaric and Mahrez aren't playing as well as they could be. On current form, we really should be aiming for a win in the Newcastle match, and no-one in the country realistically thinks we can beat Chelsea. So why not just focus all our efforts into getting the 3 points next Saturday instead of risking burning our best players out on a lost cause less than 3 days before it? We could easily go all out for a win on Wednesday with our best XI and not win, and go into the Newcastle match with Cambiasso exhausted and Vardy injured. I think we should rotate for Chelsea. Wrap our best players up in cotton wool for Newcastle. That's a bad case of comma Tourette's. We need points sooner rather than later. We are still not in the position where we can rest players for non-tactical reasons. None of the games are guaranteed for us to win. We could easily lose to both Newcastle and Soton and then we could need 4-6 points in the last two games. No one in the country thought we could beat United at home, yet we did. The odds are against us, but that doesn't mean we don't field the best possible team. If players are tired/unfit than we don't play them, I don't dispute that. But if they are fit, we play them. Nothing in football is guaranteed. It would be just football, if we beat Chelsea and lose to Newcastle. Obviously, the Chelsea game on paper is harder than the Newcastle game but that doesn't mean we don't play our best team that has the greatest chance of winning. If some players are unfit, ie/ Vardy, than we don't play him because that won't necessarily be our best chance of winning. No game should be a write off anyway. I really hope Pearson isn't thinking what some people are on here. Let me field a weaker side against Chelsea in an attempt to rest key individuals to beat Newcastle. We are nowhere near the position where we can rest players. We are 1 point clear of safety, and say we write off the Chelsea game, and we lose to Newcastle next week, we could be back in the relegation zone. Every game from now on we aim to win. These players are used to playing three times a week anyway, from last season in the Championship where we had a smaller squad anyway. The other thing is momentum and confidence. We need to put in a good performance at Chelsea so confidence and momentum is not lost. If we take a 3-0/4-0 beating then all our recent work could be undone and we could lose all confidence. The point is we are not in a position to rest anyone for any game. If they are unfit that's a different story. But we still need points, we are not safe and we need the same mentality of going into every game to win. We would definitely regret it if we rest players like Cambiasso/Vardy and we lose heavily to Chelsea.
sdb Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Difficult. I'd put Cambiasso and Vardy on the bench. Hope that we compete for an hour and then get them on.
Finnegan Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 I'd definitely rest Cambiasso, three games in a week is a big ask. Hammond or James in. Otherwise full strength but I wouldn't risk Vardy if he does have a knock. Bench him for Kramaric. We need Vardy fit to terrorise Newcastle and Sunderland who are there for the taking. Scouse is right abou picking and choosing your games but you've gotta be pragmatic as well and as much as we think he isn't, Cambiasso is only human.
justfoxes Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 No one as this is definitely a winnable game as Chelsea are not really blowing anyone away lately I recon if Pearson gets the formation and team selection right I think we could give Chelsea a hard time a draw maybe a win ?? Could see Nigel going five at the back
Westerby Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Hull play Liverpool 24 hours before this match. Rightly or wrongly that may be seen as a 'help' towards team selection. Along with Leicester, their goal difference is better than most around us and if Hull avoid a heavy defeat against Liverpool ( always assuming they lose at all ) then going for a win against Chelsea and ending up on the wrong end of a thumping could take that possibly vital advantage away from us. For this reason I can see a return to the "let's not lose by too many" attitude we've seen a number of times this season - but this time with at least some vindication. Playing NOBODY who isn't 100% fit seems obvious, albeit the 'seemingly obvious' had not often happened in selection from October to March. Losing by a narrow margin to Chelsea would not damage morale or goal difference, a heavy defeat, along with picking up an injury or suspension would potentially be worse.
Lestoh Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Don't like how many suggestions we'ee getting to field a weaker team. It's like everyone's going into this game expecting us to roll over and accept defeat, which is never how any game should be approached, whether against Chelsea or Cheltenham. I get the idea of resting players for the more 'winnable' games, but in our position we need to go in thinking we can win and doing everything we can to make that happen - and that means fielding our strongest teams. Only exception for me are those who aren't fully fit.
Leicester Lass Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 Only rest anyone who isn't 100% fit. Let's not forget the majority of this team played Championship football last season where Saturday, midweek, Saturday is a regular occurrence. We have a great fitness & sports science team, they will have the players ready for both the Chelsea and the Newcastle games.
Babylon Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 If Schlupp, Vardy and Nuge are still carrying knocks they won't play and it's not worth the risk. Find a place for Kram and Mahrez instead. Cambiasso, well it just depends on whether his body can do three games in a week.
Claridge Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 I don't rate Ulloa- if the ball is given to him or finds his head ok but he doesn't run.. By that I mean chase the ball vardy and nuge chase all the time putting pressure on them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Its not as if we have been winning with Ulloa in the team is it. FFS
Dickov22 Posted 26 April 2015 Posted 26 April 2015 We shouldn't rest anyone if they are fit. We are not in the position to pick and choose games we play a full strength side in. If Vardy is struggling, leave him out and play Kramaric. Otherwise pick the best side. Chelsea won't be looking forward to playing us
