Kitchandro Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Truth is those pair get their kicks from the past and we get ours from the present, and that's been the case for the majority of my time as a Leicester fan. Forest even more so. At least Derby have actually been in the top flight since I've followed. I have never seen Forest in the top flight since I've followed football and funnily enough even between 2004 and 2008, the absolute nadir since I've followed Leicester, Forest were somehow worse. Always baffles me how they think they're massive. They're similar sized to us. Very impressive achievements but lets not pretend here. They aren't even bigger than Sunderland. Forest are getting crowds of around 20,000 now. I think it's fair to say they're nowhere near as big as Sunderland.
Dan Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Forest are getting crowds of around 20,000 now. I think it's fair to say they're nowhere near as big as Sunderland. Tell their fans that. I've never bought into the logic that a club size is dictated by what you've won. Seriously flawed argument.
Foxbythesea Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Good to see Nugent get the winner last night against Hull last night for Boro. That could of been the biggest goal of the season in the Championship this season in the promotion/title race.
MC Prussian Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Forest are getting crowds of around 20,000 now. I think it's fair to say they're nowhere near as big as Sunderland. They once were as big, if not bigger than Sunderland. "Were" being the magic word. But 20'000 is still impressive when you consider the absolute poor support from most Championship clubs these days. Whenever I see a match on TV, half the stadiums seem completely empty!
AKCJ Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 "The Ultimate Derby" and it's like an absolute morgue.

But 20'000 is still impressive when you consider the absolute poor support from most Championship clubs these days. Whenever I see a match on TV, half the stadiums seem completely empty! Really? Derby still pull in 30k, Brighton and Middlesbrough both get around 25k too and Wolves get 20k or just under. Leeds and Wednesday both get 20k but both Elland Road and Hillsborough are ridiculously big. Same could be said about Ipswich and Wolves. The only half empty stadiums I ever see are Blackburn (but they've always had strange support) and Cardiff. Perhaps Bolton these days actually too. Charlton only get around 12k but the Valley, again, is massive.
johnny the fox Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 sheep v trees.. poor quality.. still chants about being champions of europe... pitifully sad..
lestajigs Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 This has got to be the worse football Derby in history
Finnegan Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Literally just switched my TV on and it happened to be on sky sports one just as Derby scored. To be fair, that's a really good team goal.
MC Prussian Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Bolton are surely relegated - no way are they going to catch up on a 11-point deficit with only nine games to go?
Fox92 Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 There's always a fight in this game. Thought Mills was off for the minute.
Finnegan Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 There's always a fight in this game. Thought Mills was off for the minute. Just handbags really. Whoever he pushed made a meal out if it and he shouldn't have been being attacked anyway, not like he deliberately took out the keeper. Was watching the ball all the way.
lestajigs Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Derby forest is on par with Burnley Blackburn i.e a pretty average provincial derby between 2 generally shit sides. If they're on TV I wouldn't purposefully try and watch it No chance, Blackburn burnley is a lot more fierce
Corky Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 The ultimate derby it may be in fantasy but in reality it's two average second division teams slugging it out. One bit of quality won it, plenty of talk about passion and how hard they worked but Derby were poor and Forest no better.

A lot of clubs just about fill their ground over half - valid point about Wednesday and Leeds having bigger stadiums but support still looks scarce and given the relative size of the places and their fanbases you'd expect a little better. I always used to get annoyed at the top flight snobbery towards us when we were in the championship but absolutely everything is better in the Premier League, and by some distance.

I always used to get annoyed at the top flight snobbery towards us when we were in the championship but absolutely everything is better in the Premier League, and by some distance. Birmingham is a good shout, even more so when you consider the size of the City (fair play Villa are a big club and bigger than Birmingham). Although I think their average has improved since Rowett came in and turned them around. MK Dons, at 30k, are never going to fill that. Same could probably be said about Huddersfield and Preston too these days which is a shame given their history and structure. I agree everything is better in the Premier League, and I guess our attendances reflect that. When we were in the Championship we'd still average more than 20k but it was never at full capacity like it has been for the past two seasons.
SystonFox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 And some were perfectly happy for us to go back down to that league this time last year. They said they wanted cheaper tickets, better availability. A half empty stadium with no atmosphere. A 0-1 home defeat on a cold Tuesday night to Rotherham at home. Utter madness
Corky Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Fulham in real danger of getting relegated again. To think they were a stable Premier League club, in that division for 13 years, reaching European finals and now heading towards the third tier.
ealingfox Posted 28 March 2016 Posted 28 March 2016 Fulham! Crazy descent into utter horse muck. Always been vaguely likeable as they are such an inoffensive, nothingy club. Unfortunately the other side of that coin is nobody notices when they are doing badly. Surprised Jokanovic has been doggo tbf as i thought that was a good appointment at the time, but then i also didn't realise they were under FFP embargo this season. As a West London boy i want all of our clubs bar Chelsea (QPR, Brentford, Fulham) to do well provided they are not above Leicester in the league. This is madness though. That Khan must have thought he'd made a tidy investment getting them for £150m when they'd just finished 12th in their 13th straight PL season . Feel for Richard Osman more than anyone else tbh. Decent article on them here - http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/mar/28/fulham-shahid-khan-league-one-championship
davieG Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Football: English stadiums to get free wi-fi for some apps 8 hours ago From the sectionTechnology Image copyrightGetty ImagesImage captionOnly specific, official apps will be accessible via free wi-fi England's Football League has announced that free wi-fi, for a particular set of official apps, will be made available at Championship, League One and League Two stadiums. Fans will be able to access club-branded apps to get news, social media content, highlights and betting. However access to the wider internet would not be possible. The Football League said "the majority" of clubs had signed up to participate in the deal. A full list of confirmed participating clubs will be announced after 30 June. British wi-fi provider Intechnology will implement the service. In an online article, the Football League said the service would "deliver the complete digital match day experience to supporters". The free wi-fi would come as a boon to fans who had been frustrated with overloaded mobile networks at half-time, according to Intechnology chief executive Peter Wilkinson. Having to use 3G or 4G services could also be expensive, he added. However, wi-fi at sports events does not always prove popular with fans. In 2014, supporters at PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands protested against the introduction of wi-fi at their club's stadium, saying spectators should pay attention to what is happening on the pitch, not their smartphones.
IOWFOX Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 In a day and age were clubs have official ticket reselling partnerships with the cancer that is stubhub, it is wonderful to see qpr advertising using twickets to resell tickets at face value!
MC Prussian Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Yay, Middlesbrough back into second spot after a nerve-racking 3-2 away win at QPR.
StanSP Posted 1 April 2016 Posted 1 April 2016 Yay, Middlesbrough back into second spot after a nerve-racking 3-2 away win at QPR. what was nerve-wracking about it ?
