Fox92 Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 Latest reports of "player unrest" at Manchester United according to the Times, as some of the more longer-serving players at the club are revolting/have revolted against Van Gaal's training regime. The exercises under the Dutch have allegedly been described as "rigid and not attacking enough". They were attacking enough a year ago, mind. The telegraph compiled a massive collection of quotes from players he got rid of, it was an interesting read. Even Van Persie didn't seem happy with him.

MC Prussian Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 More goalkeeper news: Thibaut Courtois will have to undergo knee surgery following a training incident on Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined for quite some time. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/34216462 The stage is now yours, Asmir Begovic.
EnglishOxide Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 You having a laugh?? Wenger was a disgrace in the transfer window, stubborn tosser, top 4 for him is enough, when it shouldn't be Spending guarantees **** all. We spent nothing in our title winning season. He already has a fantastic squad. Winning 2 FA Cups on the trot shows they are a good team. Its their consistency and injury record they need to improve as well as Wenger's match day tactics, which I think he has also improved. For the most part last season they cut out the pointless possession and attacked teams with the pace of Welbeck, AOC and Sanchez.
gurru991 Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 There is no point in buying if you are not improving your team
Donut Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 The whole De Gea thing is why contracts in football are absolutely pointless. Offering De Gea a 5 year £200,000 a week deal, sends out a message that he will be an integral part of the team for 5 years, bring his wages in line with the top players at the club No wait, its so they can artificially increase his valueand sell him. A 5 year deal knowing he will be off in a few months or at worst end of season. Look at Mahrez, signs a contract about 3 weeks ago and straight away hes being linked with clubs elsewhere. Pathetic

Pathetic I'd argue that they are more important than ever actually. With every Premier League team being a lot richer than previous years, they no longer think they have to sell their best players and can force them into staying for the length of their contract, or at least until the final year - look at all the players who wanted to leave this summer but the clubs decided the money was less important so were able to keep them - Berahino, Grabban, Stones, Austin (with last seasons money and parachute payments).. etc I'd personally be surprised if De Gea leaves at the end of the season now. United are under no pressure to sell one of their best players now as they don't need the money. Unless of course there is a release clause.
Wymsey Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 It does annoy me a bit when a club are held to ransom by someone who doesn't want to play for them anymore. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34198377

Donut Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 On the flip side is clubs being silly offering long term contracts on mega-bucks... What are you supposed to do? on the one hand its offer big contracts on silly money to make their value go up so you have an asset to sell, on the other hand its dont let their contract run into the last year, then its arsehole players who abuse their contracts by wanting to leave early even though they were perfectly happy 6 months ago, then theres players like Adebayor who are criticised for seeing the rest of the contract out and not wanting to be sold. Everything is a paradox and contracts in football are just a joke.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has called on the Premier League to allow 11 substitutes on the bench in order to give young players more first-team opportunities. Ranieri's side sit third in the early league standings, unbeaten in their first five fixtures in all competitions. And the Italian believes that the size of matchday squads should be increased in order to provide more players with the chance to secure game-time. "I think the Premier League can improve by letting us have 11 players on the bench, to allow an opportunity to youngsters," Ranieri told the press as Leicester prepare to host Aston Villa on Sunday. "Why is their . . . Stopped reading theyre. I'm avving you on, dont quote me you clots
FireFox Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 He clearly wants to be able to put Dodoo and Chilwell on when we are 5-0 with 30 minutes left But he knows he probably can't include them in the squad in case Villa play dirty and injure our players early on.
davieG Posted 11 September 2015 Author Posted 11 September 2015 May as well have the whole sqad available.
Wymsey Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 He's trying to use that suggestion to his advantage, considering the style of play the team is currently pursuing; like Mourinho etc regularly do.
Dan Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 I can kind of see his point although something about having that many subs just doesn't sit right with me. I know they do it in Italy though. Think you can name 12 there.
AyewJoking Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 How is the premier league going to improve by clubs possibly playing young players who previously werent considered good enough for a 7 man bench?
Aus Fox Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 I remember when we had to make do with one! Then the madness of 3 inc a goalkeeper. Now where are we going?
