Soar Fox Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 To buy out his own contract? Think it means they'll offer him a new contract but he'll have a buy out clause of £25 million. So any team that offers that much will be able to talk to him.
glenny_fox Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 if so it's a clever move by West Brom as it will keep the player temporarily happy with them being able to stand by the valuation they placed on him.

The guy is clearly a mercinary then if he will agree to an improved contract with West Brom then because if no one comes back with 25 mil whats he going to do then?
Wymsey Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 It'll be interested to see how the Eva Carniero situation finishes, and it's probably been mentioned before but it's a shame Mourinho reacted the way he did as she always seemed professional to me. Think she'll move elsewhere, can't imagine her being dropped to the reserves etc whilst Mourinho is in charge.

Donut Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Im revisiting this Berahino thing as i cant get my head around it. The guy wants out of his contract, but West Brom wont let him go until they feel they get value for him. Whats the point of the release clause? Hes already got a contract to play for West Brom. If he wants out of the club, then giving it the arse isnt going to help, because he will lower his own value and West Brom wont sell if they dont get value. If he signs another contract and no one comes in for him with £25 mil, hes stuck at the club he doesnt want to be at even longer. And when he signed his first contract with West Brom, he was obviously happy enough to sign it back then. Now all of a sudden kicking up a fuss and going on strike? Nothing whatsoever has changed in your situation at West Brom who you signed an improved contract to play for.
Stadt Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 wba have got lambert and rondon, so the jumped up little shit can rot

He signs new improved contract no doubt with a significant wage rise so he doesn't go on strike. WBA value him at £25 million so put that in his clause (basically telling Tottenham pay that you can have him) he's got a bit of comfort knowing anyone bids that much he can leave. But I think the main thing is West Brom don't want him still being there next summer with only 12 months remaining on his contract as that weakens there negotiations on his price.

The player is already under contract to play for West Brom. And they already have Lambert, Rondon, Sessegnon. By offering him a load of cash and basically pander to him, then he will all of a sudden give his all for West Brom again? Call me old fashioned but hes West Brom's property for them to deal with how they see fit. For once a contract has actually meant something, West Brom have said you belong to us and we will sell you when we think its appropriate. If Spurs came in with an appropriate bid, they could have had him, clause or not. Whether or not he has this daft additional wage for doing nothing. As for Berahino, he can fvck himself.

Him signing a new contract is just as beneficial to West Brom as it would be for Berahino. They don't want the contract going down as it decreases his value or they end up losing him for nothing. Chelsea last week gave Victor Moses a 4 year deal even though he had only played 22 games in 3 years for them. As that way they'll get more money for him next season when they inevitably sell him. They then loaned him out to West Ham on the same day.

Make his "value" go through the roof in case he wants to go to another club or have a strike.

Unfortunately all the power is with the players now.
fuchsntf Posted 6 September 2015 Posted 6 September 2015 Berahino, has been a total idiot, with his comments no doubt....but His attitude could of been influenced by the way he and his transfer issue was handled. There could of been arrogance also from his chairman, even small mindness in handling the whole personal issue. Berahino should like any professional sportsman honour and respect the written contract, and think of his position with WBA , and other future fans.It seems he hasnt got good advisors in his clique, or family. We on the outside who know nothing on what transpired over the closed season, He did make the worst statement any footballer could of made, not willing to play again for WBA, under......etc etc, but there could be mitigating circumstances... Or he is truelly a full blown up tw*t.
st albans fox Posted 7 September 2015 Posted 7 September 2015 His frustration is understandable. Everyone at WBA thought he was going to Spurs. they had two players lined up to come the other way (not from Spurs). For whatever reason, levy didn't make the deal acceptable to Peace as had been expected. Given that all was in place, it would be expected that west brom would cave into Spurs offer. Peace's stubbornness, whilst understandable is going to cause more problems than a few million quid will solve. However, the player should not go public with his thoughts and it would be left for TP so deal with the fall out in private. Now it's a bit different. How do we know that mahrez isn't pissed that we turned down arsenals offer for him? That's to illustrate another point that if these things are done without public comment and discussion, then only some know about it and when it falls apart, it can be dealt with quietly.
ealingfox Posted 7 September 2015 Posted 7 September 2015 If its true that they werent offering more than 5 mill upfront and the rest spread out over the next few seasons then that is ridiculous from Levy and Tottenham, and WBA had every right to tell them where to go, regardless of the fact that they now have to deal with the consequences. Berahino is a little shithouse anyway.
filbertway Posted 7 September 2015 Posted 7 September 2015 Probably the best thing West Brom can do, this way they are contractually obliged to accept £25 million which will put Berahino's mind at ease as he clearly doesn't trust the clubs ownership. Doing anything else is cutting off their nose to spite their face, I'd rather have £25 million than make a point. Bera needs to put his dummy back in and start playing well anyway or people will be reluctant to spend £2.5 million never mind 25.
lestajigs Posted 7 September 2015 Posted 7 September 2015 Still think Arsenal have a great chance of the title. Chelseas defence isn't all that, whilst at Man City Aguero will inevitably get injured and Toure, Kompany, Demichelis and Hart are definitely going to dip in form, particularly when the champions league games kick in. You having a laugh?? Wenger was a disgrace in the transfer window, stubborn tosser, top 4 for him is enough, when it shouldn't be
MC Prussian Posted 10 September 2015 Posted 10 September 2015 Tom Cleverley out for roughly two months after suffering ankle ligament damage: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/34208333

Berahino is a little shithouse anyway. Hadn't heard that. Is there a decent source? I wonder where spread payments come into the 'buyout clause'. If someone has a buyout clause of £50m, and a club offers £1m a year for 50 years, does it have to be accepted?
Freesolo Posted 10 September 2015 Posted 10 September 2015 I think Levy is part of the problem, he has a big mouth as well as being a stubborn, uncompromising, troublemaker, not someone you would want to deal with in the transfer market, you know if you deal with this guy he always has to feel like he got the best of it. Once you get a bad rep like that you ruin the club's reputation and its not long before people don't want to deal with you unless totally necessary. I can see spurs having a shit season by their standards this time round

The Blur Posted 10 September 2015 Posted 10 September 2015 Do anyone know whether if De Gea is likely to start for Man United this weekend? I got Romero in my fantasy team and I am not sure whether to drop him or not.
Darkon84 Posted 10 September 2015 Posted 10 September 2015 Do anyone know whether if De Gea is likely to start for Man United this weekend? I got Romero in my fantasy team and I am not sure whether to drop him or not. Apparently Van Gaal is leaving the decision late, right up until the last training session. I'd wager De Gea will be back though.
