foxoffderby Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 http://www.teamtalk.com/premier-league/9875425/Premier-League-sponsorless-after-2017 Barclays have had some bad press recently. They had to pay a world record fine for fixing markets. Looks like the Premier League does not want to be linked with any companies due to negative PR. Plenty of money from Sky to compensate the clubs
ramboacdc Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 the same year the tv money sky rockets is the same time the sponsor of the league goes? who would have thought it?! it is good it will just become the premier league though i must say!
Babylon Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 It actually leaves it open for each territory to sell the naming rights. Eg. In America the "Budwiser Premier League". In Asia the "Emirates Premier League". Call me cynical.
Bert Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Wouldn't be surprised if it gets called the sky sports premier league.
C-man Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Oh no, this will make so much difference to the average fan.
Out Foxed Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Oh no, this will make so much difference to the average fan. Means I don't have to see numpties on the Internet refer to it as the "BPL" so that's a positive.
Ollie93 Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How much did the Premier League get from Barclays, say in comparison to the new TV deal?
Voll Blau Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Means I don't have to see numpties on the Internet refer to it as the "BPL" so that's a positive. EPL is bad enough. Fvck off you wannabe Yank three-letter sports league cvnts.
Footballwipe Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How much did the Premier League get from Barclays, say in comparison to the new TV deal? Was worth £40m per year, or £2m per club per year, which is nothing in comparison to the new TV deal. Not to mention any other tie-ups that might come in the future with other sponsorship delas. Plus, I'll always struggle to understand the anger towards people using EPL or BPL. Such a harmless thing for people to get so angry about
foxoffderby Posted 5 June 2015 Author Posted 5 June 2015 Didn't I put this in General Sport not sure why its been moved
AyewJoking Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 EPL BPL etc are just for cúnts who think people might not know what sport they're talking about if they say "premier league"
st albans fox Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 if coca cola offer them 300 mill per season, they will turn them away ? i dont think so ! whilst they are happy not to have a sponsor as they apparently dont need any more money, the message that 'we no longer need a sponsor' is a challenge to the big corporations out there. if no one comes up with a 'nuclear' offer, then they will leave it as 'the premier league'.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 The "Durex Premier League" That would be nice and safe.
The_77 Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 EPL is bad enough. Fvck off you wannabe Yank three-letter sports league cvnts. EPL BPL etc are just for cúnts who think people might not know what sport they're talking about if they say "premier league"Or it's just normal shorthand like LCFC, UK, EU for c*nts who don't really make a big deal outta that sort of thing. Bryn Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 This doesn't surprise me, it's getting to the point where the league itself is bigger than the sponsors. The Premier League will be sponsoring stuff itself soon.
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 6 June 2015 Posted 6 June 2015 if coca cola offer them 300 mill per season, they will turn them away ? i dont think so ! whilst they are happy not to have a sponsor as they apparently dont need any more money, the message that 'we no longer need a sponsor' is a challenge to the big corporations out there. if no one comes up with a 'nuclear' offer, then they will leave it as 'the premier league'. Yeah but coca cola will never offer £300m! They want it to be sponsor less to try and promote it in the same way as the American leagues I.e NBA NFL NHL.. And thus Barclays offering £40 mil a season is pennys when they want to try a different approach and are taking £5.16 billion from TV rights from 16/17.
Jordan Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 EPL is bad enough. Fvck off you wannabe Yank three-letter sports league cvnts. We should stop being wannabe Yanks and start being wannabe central and Eastern European ultras instead.
Jordan Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 Cheap banter aside, it makes enough sense--the "Premier League" name and "brand" is so strong, it can stand out (and make money) on its own. To put it simply, when fans around the world talk about the "Premier League," they aren't talking about Scotland or the cricket in India.
HoustonFox Posted 7 June 2015 Posted 7 June 2015 The VPL. Wait, should have posted this in the Tinder thread....
justfoxes Posted 10 June 2015 Posted 10 June 2015 The VPL. Wait, should have posted this in the Tinder thread.... Or the Rachel Riley thread.
ozleicester Posted 11 June 2015 Posted 11 June 2015 Outside of the UK, it requires the use of EPL, There are other "premier leagues". Where was the outrage when it stopped being called the 1st division, or when the 2nd division became Dvision 1, or the Championship. Its an international game.
