fleckneymike Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 This is in no way meant as a slight against Pearson but the key thing now is maintaing the back room staff we have. One needs only look at what happened when Pearson departed for Hull, the infrastructure behind the scenes was decimated, the player recruitment was shambolic, injurries were common place with certain players in for one game then out for two. Likewise when MON left, he left only a legacy on the pitch, there was no off field systems in place which meant the club were reliant on finding a clone of MON, we singularly failed to do so and set ourselves back a decade. We cannot afford for that to happen again. We need a modern manager who is receptive to innovation. Pearson, to his eternal credit, asssembled an excellent team of scouts, data analysts, fitness experts etc. He also had the immense talent of know who to trust and when. What we must ensure is that we keep the scouting team, our success has been built on making relatively few misteps in the transfer market, any new manager must buy into the set up we have and also trust their judgement. The fitness team have also done wonders in minimsing and managing the knocks a niggles to ensure we always put out our most competative team. Pearson may be gone, but his legacy needn't.
Corky Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Absolutely, we need to convince them that their future is here because Pearson will want them around when he gets his next role.

Actually i am feeling way more depressed and pessemistic about the coming season after reading this post....
davieG Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Can't see Walsh and Shakespeare staying when a new manager is appointed they've been with Pearson for quite some time and followed him from club to club.

Jon the Hat Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 No reason why Walsh shouldn't report to Rudkin if he doesn't already. New contract, done.

Might not have a choice in terms of Shakey and Walsh - they will be straight back with Pearson once he gets a new role, which won't be long.
GaelicFox Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Well if it's neil Lennon might as well open the flood gates playing and coaching staff will be leaving in droves
thybluefox Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Can't for a second see them all staying. Plus, even if they do, who's to say the new manager will want to work with them, unless its someone internal like Cambiasso (which I can't see happened) or Phillips (which I also can't see happening).
AyewJoking Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Yeah the Thais think they were saving face by eliminating the head but the body cant live without the head. and I'm not even a billionaire
ealingfox Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Deluded. They will all follow him and Im sure if the players had that option then a fair few of them would too.
fleckneymike Posted 1 July 2015 Author Posted 1 July 2015 Deluded. They will all follow him and Im sure if the players had that option then a fair few of them would too. He needs a job first.
EnglishOxide Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 There is no bigger picture. We are a snake without its head. A ship without its captain. We have already sounded out Allardyce who has snubbed us. If that is our number one target we are ****ed. It seems the owners are going to go the Mike Ashley route of only wanting survival every year to maximise exposure for King Power.
Soar Fox Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Promote Shakey to manager, Philips to assistant manager and then bring in someone to be a striker a coach.
lestajigs Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 Absolute bullshit this is, I cannot see how this is gonna do us any favours stupid stupid owners
Stevosevic Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 People really think Shakey and Walsh are going to stay? The only reason they are still here is to wait until they get sacked when the new man wants his own people, no benefit of resigning and losing pay out.

It is not so much Shakey and Walsh but the people beneath them, those teams are integral. Yes Shakey and Walsh have undoubted skill but we've gotten lucky in that they've established the systems here, as long as we don't dismantle their work we can still reap the benefits. Southampton is an excellent example of a club which is well run, in a footballing sense, off the field. The manager need not know English football intimately, but his support staff do.
Dan Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 OP is a good post, but I just worry that it won't be the case and we'll end up ripping it all up in favour of something more expensive and less effective.
Guest MattP Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 In all likelihood our new "big name" will be wanting his own backroom staff anyway, that's what managers do. But even so Walsh and Shakespeare are extremely loyal people, soon as Pearson is in another job they'll be off like a jot to join him and so they should be, they've been working together for years.
GingerrrFox Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 DELUSIONS. They are Nigel Pearson's men. Wherever he will go they will follow him, same can be said of some of the Sport Science staff such as Matt Reeves who went with Nigel to Hull last time. They are only still here because they haven't been relieved of their duties yet and as such will not be given their full pay outs which will happen as soon as the new manager comes in. New signings will stop. So you may as well close down the transfer section of this forum until a new manager gets ushered in. We are in limbo.
Guest MattP Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 If we're appointing Neil Lennon we won't need the Sports Science department anyway, we should just turn it into a bar.

Sharpe's Fox Posted 1 July 2015 Posted 1 July 2015 They'll follow him and good luck to them, they can't chop of the head and expect the body to keep walking.
