The Horse's Mouth Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 I think they will, at least until Nige finds a new job
STUHILL Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 He worked with Ranieri for all of the 4 years he spent at Chelsea. I'm sure i read somewhere that Walsh was only a part-time scout there before Jose convinced him to work full-time. Maybe Claudio didn't work much with him at all. Hope he stays though, clearly got an eye for talent and rarely gets it wrong!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 July 2015 Posted 13 July 2015 Daily Mail reckons we're keeping both of them: "Ranieri is set to work within the existing structure, with assistants Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh in charge of coaching and recruitment respectively. Walsh spent 16 years as a Chelsea scout, four of them during Ranieri's time." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3159491/Claudio-Ranieri-Premier-League-replacing-Nigel-Pearson-Leicester-City-manager.html

HoustonFox Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 I think they will, at least until Nige finds a new job Unless by that time we are doing really well. Don't think they would leave then.
ozleicester Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 I hope there is no clash in Walshy's and shakespear's minds when they are thinking " should i stay or should i go?" They'll feel that Ranieri has The Right Profile and will create a Safe European Home at LCFC, even if he wants Complete Control, it won't be Hateful. Cambiasso will think I'm So Bored With The USA and I don't even care if Mourinho says it's London Calling, I'm going to Stay Free and drive back to Leicester in a Brand New Cadillac, especially now that Dean Hammond has re-signed as our Magnificent Seven. This is England, after all. They'll know that Claudio dropped a few Spanish Bombs at Valencia. Some might think that Gullit would've been a better appointment - that Rudie Can't Fail - but it's Death or Glory now. Im not down... but I will be sad to see them go if they leave. Mind you, once they say they are going, they can go Straight to Hell imo.
Len Finsbury Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Keep Walsh if possible. Let Shakey leave. I've never been convinced that he offers anything. Always seemed another job for one of NPs mates.
AKCJ Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Keep Walsh if possible. Let Shakey leave. I've never been convinced that he offers anything. Always seemed another job for one of NPs mates. Really? I think it's clear from the pre-match warm-up alone that he knows what he's doing and demands the respect of the players. I actually think that if he does go that he'll go into management, and do really bloody well.
MPH Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Keep Walsh if possible. Let Shakey leave. I've never been convinced that he offers anything. Always seemed another job for one of NPs mates. He's definitely the one who coordinated all the fitness/ training
Len Finsbury Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 He's definitely the one who coordinated all the fitness/ training What I mean is, he's easier to replace than Walsh. Coaches who can coordinate fitness/training are plentiful. Those with an eye for players are less so.
whoareyaaa Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Keep Walsh if possible. Let Shakey leave. I've never been convinced that he offers anything. Always seemed another job for one of NPs mates. Brilliant post! and what exactly do you base that on are you on the training ground everyday?
Babylon Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Shakespeare I can see leaving, Walsh I could see staying, but it depends on the job Pearson gets next and the role offered to Walsh here. He was more than just a scout for Pearson and had a lot of input, so he may wish to continue that. Whilst I think he's more likely to be just part of the scouting team now if he stays. In our favor though, would you rather be scouting players worth 5 to 15 million... or people for 500k in the championship?
cc_star Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Hopefully keep them, CR doesn't know the players or what makes them tick. Walsh is doing incredible business for us, losing him and being replaced by someone who buys from the agents who shout the loudest would be an utter travesty for our club. I can't recall an incoming manager retaining such important positions and not parachuting their own men in though The club should be offering both a deal, but they'll be off to join Pearson's next successful venture as soon as he gets a job though.
dylanlegend Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Keep Walsh if possible. Let Shakey leave. I've never been convinced that he offers anything. Always seemed another job for one of NPs mates. Really? For all we know Shaky was the Brain's behind it all. It's vital we keep him so Ranieiri knows our best qualities and hopefully will keep a similar style of play
Big_Nige Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Keep Walsh if possible. Let Shakey leave. I've never been convinced that he offers anything. Always seemed another job for one of NPs mates. Sometimes the things people say on here are completely bizarre. What did Shakey do to give you the impression he doesn't offer anything?
jock2612 Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 I would love to keep Walsh because of his scouting network BUT I firmly believe that what ever the club do both will leave as soon as NP has another job (which won't be long). They will both resign when NP calls SO the club should bite the bullet now and pay them off with the money we would have to have spent in compensation to get either NL OR MON and get another assistant with KP promoted.

Wow, that's a stupid comment. You'd love to keep them BUT the club should pay them off because in your opinion they'll resign when NP gets a new position. Well firstly, if they resign to go to another club we ought to be looking for compensation to pay off the remaining contracts, not paying them. And secondly, whilst NP did a remarkable job he had some well publicised issues last season that might well put off potential employers. I think he will do well to land another premier league job, but might bring a team up, whether his backroom staff would like to join him in a lesser team, with almost certainly poorer facilities remains to be seen.
jock2612 Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Wow, I did not say i wanted to keep them both I said Walsh. If they resign giving proper notice no compensation will be due as in any other contract of employment.I don't know if NP will get another Prem job but he will get a top job based on his record and so far the three have stick together. NP would not sign his new contract last summer until Walsh and Shakespeare had sorted theirs.I just don't want to suddenly find that our coaching team leaves when the season has just started. We will see!!

They cannot just resign and walk into another job. If we choose not to accept then they would either have to stay on or sit out their contracts on gardening leave would they not. Otherwise managers would be walking out every day of the week.
hackneyfox Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Who was responsible for coaching corners and free kicks?
Babylon Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Who was responsible for coaching corners and free kicks? Stowell... I think
Guest Mee-9 Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 I think Walsh would be the one i'd rather keep. His scouting is second to none and I'm sure he'd possibly keep our feet on the ground in terms of overpaying for players/wasting cash. Shakespeare I reckon follows Pearson wherever he goes.
Ricey Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Imperative they stay. I dread to think what losing Pearson, Shakespeare, Walsh and potentially Cambiasso will do to the squad. I fear another Paulo Sousa situation where the players just don't warm to the new manager, the new manager adopts a style of play that the squad isn't capable of and it all goes tits up with a few months. Walsh and Shakespeare know what this squad is all about and they know how a club should be run. If we can keep them working as they are and utilise Ranieri's superior tactical mind compared to Pearson, it might just work. However, I'd be shocked if they did stay.
bald reynard Posted 14 July 2015 Posted 14 July 2015 Did they leave straight away last time NP left? Yes. Within a week of Nige taking the Hull job, Shaky and Walsh had joined him.
