lavrentis Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Anyone else growing a bit distant from football? Not sure because it's the off season but I was less upset with Pearson going than I thought I would be
Kitchandro Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Not at all. Even though I'm less than enthused about how the summer has gone so far I'm still well up for the new season. I've missed the pub and the atmosphere more than anything else.
ScouseFox Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 i genuinely dont think ill ever have as much fun or as much of an emotional attachment etc as the last three months of last season. so yeah a bit. still hopefully be great in two weeks time though.
Molly Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 If people were distant would they really spend their time on a football forum?
Wymsey Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 No. But I admit the FIFA allegations (especially over Blatters and them Russians - both have good relations with each other, I wonder why?...) makes me place trust less on the game.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 I have over the past years. I used to have a season ticket for a few years, go to as many aways as I could. Now as much as I love Leicester, I could never do it again. Being tied down to most weekends is too much for me. I still love football, but I don't take as much interest in us as I used to.
Jordan Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 People will fall in and out of love with things, or not always feel as passionate or involved with things at the same level, that's natural. Politics and the price of football might be things that have an effect on that more these days than ever before. Summer's also a time to kick back and relax, so one probably won't get as worked up about sackings and transfers. I feel more into it these days than I was a few years ago, for a few reasons: -it never ends (there's always some competition going on) -on my side of the world, we've been blessed with summer tournaments with games kicking off at perfect times over the past few years, and those are always fun. -NYCFC have started play this year and I've had a blast going to a few of their games, and it's nice to have an emotional "connection" with a local team again, and -Leicester have had a few good seasons, and I'm still thrilled that they're in the Premier League even if this summer might be making us bite our fingernails a bit.

I'm exactly the same. Still love Leicester but I can't sit & watch many matches where we aren't playing.
StanSP Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Not at all. I know how you feel but I get this kind of feeling each year there isn't a summer tournament to fill the gap.
Izzy Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Anyone else growing a bit distant from football? I'm growing distant from modern football and modern footballers I think. Maybe I'm getting old now but it's no longer the game I grew up watching, which saddens me a bit. I miss the terraces, 3.00 Saturday kick offs, the magic of the FA cup, numbers 1-11, sliding tackles and much more. But it's a business now and money talks I guess. It's just all a bit too commercialised now for me and the players wages just don't make sense. I still love Leicester and always will, but I pine a bit for the good old days. I'm a traditionalist and proud
Fox92 Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 No. Never will. Absolutely love it, always have done from a young age and that'll never change.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Cant wait for new season. Something to look forward to every week just makes my week feel more exciting at the end of it. After Watford playoff i lost interest until new season started then suddenly got the bug back. Love football and can't lose the feeling of always looking forward to it. Prefer when a tournament is on. The only time i take much interest in England
SemperEadem Posted 25 July 2015 Posted 25 July 2015 Wouldnt say fallen out of love with but this summer has been a tough one for Leicester. Would have been a lot more up for it if we still had Pearson as gaffer.
potter3 Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 I fell out of love a little when the Thai‘s first took over and we started throwing money about. Couldn't identify with much of our team at all. Probably didn't help that I started working Saturday's around that time.
Nalis Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 The break between seasons, seems so short. I feel quite the opposite when there is no Euros/World Cup but I guess its all about perception. Got to the stage a few weeks ago where I was already bored of transfer talk/gossip and couldnt wait until the start of the season. There might be some weekends I only get to see the goals from a Leicester game but its just knowing that its there if I was able to watch football.
goose2010 Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 I wouldn't say falling out of love with it, but I feel some people care far to much about it. People who worry and get angry about lcfc and their signings etc it's totally out of anyone's control, I'm a season ticket holder and love going but I don't worry about us at all, I swear some people think that the owners are trying to make us worse? Why the hell would they?! Is a business these days and people need to remember that.

The FIFA allegations have just told you what you've already known for years, surely?

foxfanazer Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 I have to admit the incredible highs (and lows) we experienced under Pearson has been truely enthralling to watch and I do feel a little underwhelmed by Ranieri. Just seems like we are like every other club now whereas under NP we had our own identity and a vision. I'm not anti Ranieri by any means and by the time the Sunderland game gets here I'll be buzzing. We need to do some business in the meantime
Rob1742 Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 Struggling at the moment. The loss of Knockaert who was a decent guy and didn't get a look in last season. Then the Thai issue, leading to losing Pearson. Then Cambiasso hasn't re-signed, causing a massive hole in the squad. Leicester City is a roller coaster, always has been an I am worried at the moment that we could potentially be on the turn unless we get that midfielder. I liked Pearson. His record for us was excellent and he just didn't give a flying %%%% about anything but his team. I also liked him because others didn't like him because he didn't come over as a lovely fella. So struggling at the moment. Had some characters leave and it has left us with an uncertain future. It may work out, but if it was me, I would have fined the Thai three rather than bow to public pressure. We would then be in a much more stable position for the beginning of the season. Whatever happens, the Thai issue will play a major part in our clubs history. It caused change within the club, a massive void within the pre-season and it will either lead us to a new level of success, or it will have caused the upheaval that will send us down. I would have done everything to keep the squad and manager together, ignored public pressure, kept the manager as keeping everything together was more important than anything else. Let's see. Let's hope Ranieri can take us to the next level, but I really think this is 50/50 now and I just feel numb with losing the structure and balance that we had.
Samilktray Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 I've lost interest gradually as I've got older, mainly because you realise there's more interesting things in the world. Can't get my head round people who get really emotional over things that have nothing to do with Lesta Citeh.

Stadt Posted 26 July 2015 Posted 26 July 2015 I've lost a bit of interest because under Pearson we bucked a lot of trends, we had an English manager, a core of British players, players that you knew always tried, under Pearson we were always in a game and the club were just likeable due to the long term approach. Now I feel as though we've thrown it all away to just be another run of the mill premier league team and we're not as 'special' as we were before.
