davieG Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Report: West Ham ready to rival Leicester in race for Swiss midfield star Gokhan Inler Damien Lucas@damienlucas 2 hours ago West Ham United are reportedly ready to battle Premier League rivals Leicester City and Italian sideFiorentina for the signing of midfielder Gokhan Inler. View image | gettyimages.com The 31-year-old Swiss star looked set for a move to the Foxes, where he had been identified as the ideal replacement for the departed Esteban Cambiasso by new manager Claudio Ranieri, according to a report in the Daily Mail. But fresh reports claim the Napoli midfielder has rejected Leicester amid interest from West Ham and Fiorentina. Italian website Tuttonapoli claims West Ham's interest is the most appealing to Inler, while Football Italiasays he could still move to Serie A rivals Fiorentina. View image | gettyimages.com The classy star's contract expires next summer and he has already turned down moves to Watford, Udinese and Besiktas this summer, according toFootball Italia. Inler would no doubt be able to call on the advice of international teammate Valon Behrami regarding a move to east London, as the Watford midfielder was a Hammers fans' favourite during his time at the club. He would have arguably made the ideal replacement for Cambiasso at Leicester, with the Argentine another player who had been linked with a move to West Ham, as reported by the Daily Mail. According to the latest reports, though, east London is a more likely destination for Inler, which would surely end any interest in bringing Leicester's player of the season, Cambiasso, to Upton Park.Hammers In-ler for Gokhan but what does he bring? But what would Inler bring to Slaven Bilic's side should West Ham seal his signature? Well vast international experience for one. Inler, who has Turkish heritage, has made more than 80 appearances for Switzerland - scoring six goals - after electing to represent them over Turkey after playing for the U21 sides of both countries as a youngster. His former clubs include Basel and Udinese, before completing a big move to Napoli where he was the midfield playmaker in the Andrea Pirlo mould. He helped both Italian sides into the Champions League. Is he a potential replacement for Song?Inler has an eye for the odd spectacular goal and has played at the European Championships and two World Cups with the Swiss national side, captaining them to the last 16 in Brazil last summer. SEE ALSO: Former West Ham favourite begs old club to sign these strikers A move for Inler may be forced through amid continuing doubts over a deal for the injured Barcelona star Alex Song, who was on loan at West Ham last season. They are similar players, although Inler would perhaps be a shorter term signing given his age and West Ham's new transfer policy aimed at predominantly signing players no older than 27.

davieG Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Besiktas a step ahead of Leicester City in the race to sign Switzerland international Posted by Eren Sarigul August 5, 2015 Besiktas are a step ahead of Leicester City in the race to sign Gokhan Inler according to the Turkish Super League broadcaster LigTV. The report states that the Switzerland international is keen on a move to Besiktas over Leicester and that the Istanbul Giants have made a €4 million transfer bid to Napoli. Leicester City are also close to completing the transfer of Inler from Napoli according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Leicester’s newly appointed manager Claudio Ranieri revealed earlier this week that he was close to securing a replacement for Esteban Cambiasso. The Argentinian international recently confirmed that he will leave Leicester according to the BBC. The former Inter Milan player released a statement saying that he will not renew his current deal with the Foxes. Inler scored one goal in 33 appearances for Napoli in all competitions last season. Leicester pulled off the ‘great-escape’ last season to beat the drop. The foxes ended the season in 14th place with 41 points.
Lestoh Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 a news article stating two teams are close to signing the guy, modern day journalism is wonderfully insighftul
Callabinho Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 It's an article written around other media sources, tells us jack shit. All we know is, is that we're talking to his agent.
goose2010 Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 ****s sake. Another one sacked off. yeah that's a massive grand total of 2. Both of which haven't actually signed for anyone yet.
Babylon Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 I ignore everything in the Turkish media, they always seem so ridiculously positive around themselves. Everything is always "We're going to sign xxxxx player", invariably he goes elsewhere and they sign Darius Vassell instead.

Finnegan Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Thanks for that Babylon, what do you make of the Shalke stuff Nobody has a clue. At all. L'equipe, Bild, Marca, all these rags are just the Sun in another language. In fact, L'equipe and Marca are worse because they've got a whole ****ing paper to fill with sport and nothing else. At least Bild and the Sun have to save room for softcore pornography and casual racism.
Babylon Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Thanks for that Babylon, what do you make of the Shalke stuff God knows, I'm sure there are a few teams interested. If our other business is to go by we'll just strong arm him and his club
chapero82 Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 God knows, I'm sure there are a few teams interested. If our other business is to go by we'll just strong arm him and his club That is true I just hope we pull this off
MC Prussian Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Alright, so let's draw up a list of teams allegedly or potentially interested: Besiktas Galatasaray Fiorentina Leicester City West Ham United Schalke 04 And let's see whether he can rival Xherdan Shaqiri for most clubs interested in a summer transfer window (Shaqiri currently leads with 14 clubs in question, I think).
Fox 4 Life Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 If all of those clubs are genuinley interested I fear for us - the fee really is low for a player of his quality.
