ENGLAND footballer Jamie Vardy has been accused of racially abusing a gambler during a furious casino bust-up.

The £45,000-a-week Leicester City striker is heard loudly calling him “Jap” three times in shocking video footage obtained by The Sun on Sunday.

Vardy, 28, sparked a race row last night after he was seen abusing the fellow card player during a late-night poker game, saying: “Yo Jap, walk on.”

A witness said: “He behaved like an absolute animal, it was appalling. The other guy was a man of East Asian appearance. He looked shocked.

“As an England international he should know that eyes are going to be on him when he goes out, but he acted just like a football thug.”

Vardy was at the casino in Leicester with team-mates David Nugent, 30, and Ritchie De Laet, 26, when the row broke out in the early hours of July 26, watched by Vardy’s fiancée, Rebekah Nicholson, 33.

The striker apparently thought a middle-aged man behind him was looking at his cards. There is no suggestion the other players did anything wrong.

Anti-racism campaign group Kick It Out last night called for an investigation. And Dr Ruth Taplin, director of the Centre for Japanese and East Asian Studies in London, blasted the “Jap” remark as racist.

Referring to a person's race, nationality or skin colour can be perceived to be racist if said aggressively or in a manner intended to cause intimidation. Though not the most offensive term and certainly not as offensive as what we saw in the summer, it probably does need investigating and I wouldn't be surprised if he got slapped with a maximum fine by the club if found guilty. Real shame if true.

****.  Now if this is true what on earth can the club do?  We sacked three players when just the one used a racial slur, surely they couldn't turn a blind eye to this one?

It probably wasn't just the racist slur that they were sacked for, though that must've played a big part.

Slightly suspicious that the sun claim to have footage but aren't publishing it... Poverty paper, poverty website, poverty reporting and fact checking, not releasing the footage, a move massively out of character for the scum. If it's true, it needs looking at, but seems a big if for me.

The media for some strange reason, have an obsession with trying to scrutinize and diminish the reputation of this club, it's ****ing weird. I don't personally see Vardy calling someone a " Jap " as a derogatory or racist term, unless it's being used to belittle or embarrass the person involved. Anyone even bothering trying to compare this scenario to the one them 3 idiots did in Thailand, where they DID use racial slurs, give your head a wobble. Until this is properly investigated, we won't know the truth, only what this journalist and apparent victims agendas are.

Kinda ironic that Vardys partner upfront now, is a well known and respected Japanese international.
