ashby_fox Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0309smy An interesting interview especially where he says players were signed without his approval. Explains why he never played some of the players signed that summer like Jimmy Nielsen, Sergio Hellings.
The whole world smiles Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Very interesting, I always wonered what went on here. wonder why he's broke his silence on this now. maybe his non disclosure agreement has run out. maybe in 8 years time we will get pearson being interviewed on RL explaining this summer.
Tuna Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 More to the point, he should never have been offered the job. Had no business managing our football club, Holloway lite.
RoboFox Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Just shows what a mess the club was under Mandaric. Who knows where we'd be now had the Srivaddhanaprabha family not taken over.
Captain... Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Very interesting, I always wonered what went on here. wonder why he's broke his silence on this now. maybe his non disclosure agreement has run out. maybe in 8 years time we will get pearson being interviewed on RL explaining this summer. He didn't really reveal anything specific, he was called into see Mandaric, who said your services are no longer required, he shook his hand and wished them luck and left... I think there are a couple of scenes missing there. The most interesting bit was that someone was pressuring them into playing on after the heart attack incident, and reading between the lines that person was Mandy or someone very high up, Mad Dog went mad at him in an unprofessional way, Top Gear style, and thus lost his job. That is just pure speculation.
Wilson_6 Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Just shows what a mess the club was under Mandaric. Who knows where we'd be now had the Srivaddhanaprabha family not taken over. I think a lot of respect should be given to Milan for selling us to the "right" people.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Just shows what a mess the club was under Mandaric. Who knows where we'd be now had the Srivaddhanaprabha family not taken over. well he left after us getting into the championship play-offs, so who knows
Guest Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 I think a lot of respect should be given to Milan for selling us to the "right" people. So it wasn't luck then? Mystic Mandy could see the future?
Dan Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Didn't like Mandaric one bit. Untrustworthy and so many attempts at bigging up the small things he did but ignoring what a disaster 2007/08 was. I still hold him more accountable for our relegation than Allen or Holloway.
Isle of Wight Fox 86 Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 That was quite an interesting insight in his very short tenure at LCFC. He was very truthful in why he took the job was for the money (who wouldn't) and that there was clearly more said in the meeting than he lets on. Just glad that we now have decent owners who will stick by their manager as much as they can.
Soar Fox Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 I think a lot of respect should be given to Milan for selling us to the "right" people. I doubt he wouldn't of been bothered who he had sold us to as long as he was getting enough money.
The Doctor Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 I think a lot of respect should be given to Milan for selling us to the "right" people. We could easily have been sold to a bunch of eccentric idiots like pompey - that we got seemingly sensible business men was luck.
Nick Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Tin pot school kids manager should never have been allowed near this club with his wayward 'down to earth' tired, old fashioned idiocy - he simply wasn't close to the calibre of manager we needed.
foxoffderby Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 I pretty sure this was the time we had about 5 right backs on our books, explains a lot now MM was doing the signings. The Watford game was very good the highlight of his stay. Good luck for the future Martin.

Because no one has been that interested in ongoings at Leicester until the last four months or so, when all of a sudden we're everyone's cup of tea!
Wymsey Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Mandaric did actually steady the ship, behind the scenes publically, eventually - it's all about the 'end product', and Mandaric's plea to fans that the Thai are very caring and good owners has convinced me that Mandaric did good at the end.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Mandaric hindered us, and got very lucky when he sold the club to our current owners. We were moving backwards and fast when he was in charge
Great Boos Up Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 One in a series of 5 or 6 managers that year that would all say the same and all promise we would have hit the playoffs if they had more time. He started in the summer break and in my opinion you don't have time to piss about starting from scratch looking around for new signings. Just work with the team and what's already coming your way and think about who you want for the next window. The only one that had the time was Holloway a year later and that ended up as a f-ing disgrace and there is an argument that on scale of turds; Holloway was better than Allen. Either which way we were still in the sh*t.
Webbo Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Interesting. I'm sure there are other things we're not being told but it's a bit of an insight.
Nalis Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 The fact that Martin Allen managed us in the first place is a greater tragically than what he is claiming in the above article.
RedSoxUK Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Martin Allen makes a good coach and manager, but he's quite clearly a lower league kind of guy - considering theres such a huge emphasis on scouting and a director of football / footballing operations these days at the best clubs. Perhaps Milan stepped in a little too much as an owner.
Durnerz Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Good interview and an honest account there from Allen, granted he was way out of his depth when he took the job on and to admit that he shouldn't have and was here only for the money is a brave admission.Mandaric could probably see this and perhaps that's why he stepped in?
MPH Posted 28 August 2015 Posted 28 August 2015 Better question would be why was he hired in the first place to then be sacked after 4 games?
