Samilktray Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 I must admit. So did I... He doesn't deserve to be the highest England scorer EVER....Why not? He's put the ball in the back of the net a record amount of times
Izzy Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 penno to get 50....well done shrek Yeah, suppose so. But is he really all that?
Tielemans63 Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 Imagine how many he'd have if he ever scored in actual tournaments?
ashfosse Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 The stick Rooney gets in an England shirt is a disgrace. 50 goals for his country and people still slag him off. Incredible achievement
The Horse's Mouth Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 sad to think how many Owen could have scored
Shamomoa Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 Why not? He's put the ball in the back of the net a record amount of times Yes I no that. As its been quoted a fair few amount of times... I just don't think he's as good as players that have been and gone before him.
steveherbe Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 But lets look at the positives. That Inler looks FAR too good for little old Leicester. He should be playing for Spurs or Chelsea, y'know, one of them top 6 sides.
Dan LCFC Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 Knew it'd be a penalty well done to Rooney. Very impressive record.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 Wonder how many of Rooney's goals were penalties? A fair few I think. Don't remember Lineker taking any or Owen, wasn't around to know if Charlton took penalties.

Izzy Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 I must admit. So did I... He doesn't deserve to be the highest England scorer EVER.... I took the girlfriend down to the old Wembley in 1992 or whenever it was to see Lineker break the record against Brazil in a friendly. And he missed a pen to equal the record if I remember rightly. Doesn't 'feel' right to me that Rooney has the record. Maybe he just doesn't have the 'like ability ' factor for me. Dunno

Shamomoa Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 I believe lineker would have smashed it if he'd had more caps ;-)
ashfosse Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 Did the crowd just burst out laughing when Smalling was announced as man of the match? Why would they? Hes turned into a brilliant centre half. Uniteds best player so far this year

Don't remember Lineker taking any or Owen, wasn't around to know if Charlton took penalties. Can only remember lineker having a pen to tie the record and missingEdit: just seen this Rooney - 50 goals. 28 of which were penalties. 1 goal in a World Cup. Tielemans63 Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 It is a great achievement but it also can't be overlooked that he's been a major let down in every big tournament he's played in bar one - his first. For me, he needs to be the main man in a major tournament, like Charlton, like Lineker to be remembered as a true great and not just a goal scorer. One Legged Beaver Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 But he's still scored more than them. They actually tended to score when it mattered though. Lineker won a golden boot, Rooney has scored one goal over three world cups.
Socks Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 it just doesnt feel like its major achievemnt for him probably cos England have been pretty shit for quite a few years now

4everfox Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 We've won every game so far We wont win the Euros though, or the world cup or the one after that and the one after that no matter who the manager is. At least we could get some enjoyment out of watching England again with Pearson abusing the press for asking too many questions and not playing negative boring football. foxes21 Posted 8 September 2015 Share Posted 8 September 2015 Have to say Inler looked class and is perfect for our counter attacking style, just sitting in the middle and dictating. Pretty sure switzerland played 4-4-2 aswell. Some of his balls over the top in the first half.. Vardy and Okakazi are going to have a field day.
