Gerard Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 I think Mahrez will sign a new deal whether he wants to stay or not. Leicester will offer him about £80k a week for a year extension. As he already has three years left on his contract this summer the power is definitely with the club so we won't be bent over and shafted by a big club trying it on for relative pocket change. Having three or four years left on your contract isn't much difference so I could see Mahrez doubling his money and possibly leaving in the summer of 2017 if he keeps this high standard up he's set for himself.
Richmondfox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Maybe if he has a big ego the club could turn his head the other way by convincing him he is worth more than any bid that comes in.
My Nads Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 I'd guess Mahrez was offered a deal at the same time as Vardy, the fact that Vardy's signed and Mahrez hasn't worries me a bit. £25 million seems very cheap these days I'd hope for at least 40 mil Vardy is irreplaceable, Mahrez isn't irreplaceable. If Mahrez really does want to leave we should sell him, but not give him away for £25m! If Sterling was £53m(?) Marhrez is £60 at least! The biggest loss would be his goals of course, so we should look at a real goalscorer to play alongside Vardy to replace the goals we'd lose. If we used the money to bring in the likes of Chicharito or Carrillo our team would be stronger and that's all that really matters.
Foxxed Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Can we rename this thread to 'Pimp Mahrez' please.
ARM1968 Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Forget this £25 million crap. It'll be 2 or 3 times that when he goes. However he might well stay next season. Hopefully.
Guest ttfn Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 £25 million is totally derisory. In the current market he's a £40 million player minimum.
ScouseFox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 i would genuinely weep for a good few days if we sold him for the same amount as adam lallana or shaun wright phillips ffs
Guest ttfn Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 i would genuinely weep for a good few days if we sold him for the same amount as adam lallana or shaun wright phillips ffs SWP got sold 10 years ago as well. Even at £40 million we should be telling people where to go really.
ScouseFox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 SWP got sold 10 years ago as well. Even at £40 million we should be telling people where to go really. especially with how little we actually need money. we could get offered 60m and snub it because we don't need 60m but we do need mahrez. said all along, i think he only ever leaves when he wants to and i don't see that being after he's helped us get in the champions league.

But even if he wants to leave (and I think he would if Real or Barca or PSG came calling) we still reserve the right to tell them to piss off if they don't offer a good wedge. Ok, it would lower his price if he was unhappy but we're talking about £60 million down to £45 million rather than £30 million to £25 million. Like you say, the money is immaterial to us, and to PSG in particular he could be a really big signing. Not only would he improve their first team but as a French Arab declared for Algeria, politically he could be a huge signing for them.
kyleolly Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Real payed around £90m for Gareth Bale after he scored 21 goals for Spurs, Mahrez should be somewhere near that figure come May so £25m is ridiculous!
ScouseFox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 yeah of course, i just meant that no matter what types of offer come in, even as high as record UK bids imo, he won't be leaving unless he tries to push it through himself because we don't need to sell. once he hands in a transfer request/has a mardy/hints he wants to move on then fair play and it'll knock any deal down a bit but it'll be his decision, not just because someone's made a bid.
Guest foxestalkisfullofidiots Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 I'm sure people think they're playing football manager, I would sell him for this.....I would sell him for that, I would never sell him at any price, it don't go in my pocket, yes we have more key players in key areas but the excitement when he gets the ball far outweighs the frustrations.
trabuch Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 It is vitally important that we are in the champions league next year if we are to keep The team Mahrez.. (think about that - pinch yourselves - and explode with joy).

UPinCarolina Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Their price range is laughably low. Fvck off, Camp Nou.
benn Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 at the moment yes, but if leicester stay on top the price will be very hight some paper's said 70 M at least.
TheLittleBigMan Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 I'd much rather him go to La Liga than another prem team, imagine him in an Arsenal shirt. We always knew we'd be lucky to get him for another season but that may be on the cards. I hope he stays out of the press in the meantime, that sh*t will affect your form - there is no deal yet.
Soar Fox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 I'd let him go for £4 million. Can be great, can be bad. Just another player who is vastly overrated by fans, when most of the time he is inconsistent.

Fox 4 Life Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Love this from Claudio! Ranieri will have no hesitation in benching Riyad Mahrez if the Leicester City star begins to get carried away by transfer speculation. Mahrez has been one of the main catalysts in Leicester hitting top spot in the Premier League heading into the final third of the 2015-16 season. But his impressive season - Mahrez has already scored 16 goals - has seen the Algeria international linked with a host of top clubs across Europe, including Barcelona and Real Madrid. Although Mahrez signed a contract extension until 2019 at the start of the season, speculation about his future has continued and Ranieri is keen that he ignores as much of it as possible. "If Riyad plays well he continues to play. If he thinks about other teams he comes with me on the bench," the Italian said. "If I am Riyad I say: 'There are a lot of teams who want me, OK, I have to show more if I want to go there. I have to show my best, because if I should do my best maybe they want to buy me.' Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri says their next five games will be key to their hopes of winning the Premier League "We want to keep all our players. We believe in them. But if a player comes to me and says: 'Boss, I want to go there because it's my ambition to go there.' I'll say: 'Go and enjoy and have good luck.' "Because I only want players who are happy to stay here, because sooner or later we grow up a lot. Of course, not like Barcelona or Real Madrid, but Leicester will be a very good team. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/10182996/claudio-ranieri-urges-leicesters-riyad-mahrez-to-ignore-transfer-talk

sycokilla Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 I think he will be here next season at least... just settled in the city...with a little luck champions league football next year...he is a very special player but if he has any sort of maturity he will stay for another season.
