Sir Shep Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 What's our record for most money received? Is it still £11M for Heskey? I'd imagine most of our squad now are worth more than that and Mahrez's fee will probably be more than all of our total sales for the past few years.
ScouseFox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 how on earth he's still making a living out of the "look like i'm cutting onto my left, dip to the right and leave the defender for dead" routine is beyond me. two whole years now and not one defender has read it. do they even watch videos of him? he does it EVERY time.
st albans fox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Whilst I would love him to stay here, I fear an approach from Rm or barca will be impossible to resist. If he stays for our CL campaign and doesn't cut it at that level, he won't get a call from either of these clubs. His only certain chance of a transfer to them could be in June. Yes, he could back himself to perform but why take the chance. If he has the self confidence, he will be expect to become a regular for them, just as he is here.
Bryn Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 They're both ****ing good like. I think Payet has a level of consistency a player like Mahrez might never achieve, a midfield containing Payet will inevitably be competitive and create chances. Mahrez can do things only a handful of players in the world can do. I'd love both of them in the side.

The thing is do Real Madrid or Barcelona really want or need him, just look at the players they have let go in recent seasons is Mahrez really any better then any of them
filbertway Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Mahrez wouldn't even come close to the front three of barca at the minute, I would be very surprised if any of the top teams in Europe want him right now. He's capable of the sublime and ridiculous at times but his decision making still isn't there for me. Watch the front three for Barca and they make the right decision 9 times out of 10. With Mahrez i think it's closer to 3 or 4 times out of 10. Those 3 or 4 times usually do lead to goals or key chances though That being said, the only way he will get to their level is by playing with them. So this post is ultimately pointless and just stating the obvious ha.
Fox92 Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 He's not good enough for a side such a Barcelona, don't be stupid... We're talking about the best teams in Europe here and Mahrez isn't at that level. Barcelona let Alexis Sanchez go because he wouldn't get ahead of Messi/Neymar/Suarez and Sanchez is much better than Mahrez.
Bedford Fox Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 I do think Mahrez has the potential to be world class and sadly think we may not see him in a Leicester shirt. Next season.Hopefully I am wrong because I think if he stays he will have a key role in making and keeping LCFC. A top, top club

Fox92 Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Someone should tell him them so that he scores and assists more than he does. This season, yeah, but he needs to do it consistently. Sanchez scored 16 league goals for Arsenal last season.

Fox92 Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Sanchez needs to do it consistently also then? He's been consistent in top flights for the past 5 or 6 years, as well as being brilliant at International level.

Nothing to disagree with, except if Big teams think they can mould him, with promised amount of games, in his contract. Then Barca, R.madrid will chase him and Kante. These 2 just need to consider, do they want to keep the star status at a new story making club like City, or go for glory, and become a maybe star, but at least for more money, even sitting on the Bench. ** Or stay 1-2 seasons pick up on their game, after getting an obvious medium payrise, have more to offer, plus some of the big name stars in Spain/Italy/UK will be on the wane, these 2 still would have 5-8 seasons to make their name and make mega bucks. Even if they like Ozil get moved on.
Fox 4 Life Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Q&A with Guillem Balague Could Riyad Mahrez become a Barcelona player? @stevemarriott67 Definitely not, he is not a target for Barcelona.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 Q&A with Guillem Balague Could Riyad Mahrez become a Barcelona player? @stevemarriott67 Definitely not, he is not a target for Barcelona. Madrid would suit him more, with more of a focus on individual skill. Don't think he's got the all round game to play for a top top side (us excluded of course )

UPinCarolina Posted 29 February 2016 Posted 29 February 2016 We'll likely be able to retain his services for another season, while Europe's top clubs wait for his game to round into a more consistent form before swooping in and paying us a princely sum. Why buy the unfinished product when another year of development in the PL will show you more about your investment + you have another year to wheel and deal with current roster...even if he added value, he doesn't clear your price range (because you have none)

No where near good enough yet imo for Barcelona where at best he be a bit part player, you just look at Messi, Naymar and Suarez and think nah. Perhaps in the future and could fully understand why he'd want to go their and would be happy for him and not bitter. His best option imo would be to give us at least another season and gain some European experience including (and can't believe I'm saying this), play against them at the Camp Nou and stuff it up em! How would that be for a shop window!

It's the selling clubs that sees it your way. Yes, but we aren't willing to sell at that "affordable" price. How do you replace Mahrez immediately and with same effect if you only bring in 20-25M quid? You don't. I'd be extremely disappointed if he is sold over the summer for less than 40M, given comparables such as Sterling and De Bruyne.
