Wales 28-25 England - Glass houses?

:fishing:

Don't cry, Doc!

For what it's worth, I'm disappointed you couldn't hold on, but hardly surprised.

That's bloody painful, particularly given I think Joubert gave the Aussies a bit as well with the sin-binning, but just remind us - how many did England beat Australia by a couple of weeks ago?

Not sure Australians have nerves.

Who was the kicker in the 03 final? He landed at least 2 penalties which under ordinary circumstances would have been challenging where had he missed it was game over.

At least Scotland gave it their absolute all and went down fighting.

Bleedin England players, who didn't, twice, ended up watching the quarters from the sofa.

Sigh.

You must be getting confused, we lost quite heavily.

Exciting game, but so many errors. That last line out, Scotland will have nightmares.

Unfortunately all the home nations came up short and need to take a long hard look at themselves. Cut out all the talking and slagging each other off, get back to basics. All four nations talk a good game, but when push comes to shove they have all let themselves and their supporters down.

France are no better, results have proven that the southern hemisphere nations are still too far ahead.

England not the worse individual forwards, but worse team-pack for many a year.

Backs, just no imagination.

Coaching staff, worse in 30 years

Wales, just looked void of ideas, also tired and looked that this WC came maybe 2 years too late.

Best Scottish side for a decade, but their best still is their anthem, no top talent coming through

Ireland again best players like Wales just might of tipped over their Peak, lost some greats now to injury at Wrong time.

But, But !!! Just might have a 3 game hurrah left in them, if their players can knitt and stave of more injuries.

France, expected more, but worse front 5 in 20-30 yrs.Backs slowest in reaction I have ever seen, zero pace and flair.

NZealand, dont know yet, I have a feeling other French sides in the past would AGAIN been their nemesis.

That said, their handling, and movement was brilliant today, their players turned up.

I am English with a taint of Irish blood...I want to question my own quote from above over Scotland....

On todays game alone, one of your best squads in 10 years.

Today you bloody jocks were brilliant, best performance in this WC from any home nations team + france.

Ref, stole the game from you, by not noticing big moments in a game.

The authorities do need to look at how Refs, are losing the plot at proffesional Rugby, they have fallen well behind, and take too

many easy options. They get away with it because the Rugby fraternity, dont cry loud enough, like their soccer counterparts.

Unlike some I support all Home nations, in all sports.

Today Scotland deserved to win, and playerd their best game for maybe 10-12 years.

The Irish imploded, shame the high count of injuries, this could of been their year.

Similar with Wales, plus it just didnt run for them in important dynamic parts of play.

England...1st we need to admit how poor we really were,4 yrs build up of utter rubbish, style, weaknesses , coaching.

and yes Lancaster not just the players.

To finish on Scotland, you deserved to carry the flag at least into the next game...

The 6 Nations teams didnt turn up, with the exception of Scotland who were one avoidable error from reaching the semis.

Northern Hemisphere, you're shit. Go home.

At least the Scots (and the Welsh to a lesser degree) put up a fight. Us and the Irish should be significantly more ashamed.

I missed your game yesterday, was the only one I didn't get to see.

With that said, using the rest of the tournament as evidence, I don't agree. England turned up, they're just not good enough. Wales turned up, we're just not good enough. France, Italy, Scotland and Ireland too - all given an account of themselves that represents where they stand currently in world rugby.

We're just losing ground, year after year, on the southern hemisphere. Our league and cup system here is a joke, the financial irregularities in our sport are a joke.

Until we look at the south, the kiwis in particular, and start learning from them we'll never be as good.

New Zealand is one of the smallest countries in the tournament and they've got the best team. And before anyone says it, nearly all (if not ALL) of their ethnic Samoans were born and raised in New Zealand. New Zealand has a large Samoan community, the myth of them simply stealing the best Pacific Islands (who also have tiny populations anyway) talent is massively over exaggerated.

Kaino, Fekitoa and Naholo are born in the islands, and one of the back up scrum halves is Australian born I think. A guy I work with lived out there for 20 years, he reckons rugby is just ingrained in the culture to the point where it's nearly all that people talk about. This i think is where England fall down, we've ended up becoming a jack of all trades and master of none, I wouldn't mind being absolute gash in most of the major sports if it meant we were bona fide world beaters in one of them, a la New Zealand.

There's a few, aye, but the Saveas, SBW, Nonu, Sopoaga, etc are all New Zealand born.

In fact, nobody ever mentions that there's more New Zealand born players in the Samoa side than Samoan born players in the ABs.

The culture you're bang on with but it's a lot more than that. It's infrastructure, it's league system, it's everything.

Look at Australia. Jack of all trades. Rugby union is about their fourth or fifth sport but they're still significantly better.

The northern hemisphere needs to embrace super rugby format.

could be worse, places like wales, scotland etc are shit at everything

I think Scotland's performance really shows that Northern Hemisphere rugby isn't as bad as people are making out.

Scotland are the worst team in the 6 nations but they really should've won if the ref hadn't been so bad.

Ireland and France were humiliated true but why?

Southern Hemisphere coaching is better and they only play half the number of games.

France Rugby is in meltdown this weekend - it's like the apocalypse here.

Talk of a terrible national set up, poor coaches, mismanagement, over paid players, no money being put into grass roots and too many games.

top 14 is great rugby to watch but I can see them pushing for a reduced league top12, top 10 and a restriction on foreign players. the big fight is going to be about the repartition of money and the need for more to be put in to all the lower levels.

The French don't handle defeat very well (even though on the pitch they have a tendency to surrender). Absolute bloodbath in the sports media.

Volleyball euro champs though so perhaps the supporters will just switch sports again.
