Collymore Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Our excellent fitness levels has been highlighted a few times but I think it really kicked home tonight just how fit our squad is. From 80 minutes onward it was almost embarrassing how more energetic we were than the West Ham. Hats off the sports science team!
filbertstreet Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 pretty sure our water bottles just have amphetamines in, they just don't stop it's amazing
Benji Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 It was a bit like Fifa in ET with the simple through balls and sprinting. Shame we finished like n00bs lolz.
ScouseFox Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 bringing on mahrez made our team a lot fitter too imo wink wink nudge nudge ygm
lgfualol Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 It is incredible. Our players could all lap Mo Farah in a race.
Thracian Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Kingy and Kante absolutely bossed the game during extra-time and there was so much understanding among the players during that spell that West Ham were carved apart for what would been a goals avalanche if it hadn't been for their goalkeeper and finishing that was so bad one of our fans thought we might be missing on purpose. Ranieri must be so proud. Maybe we'll take the Cup even more seriously now although I wonder if our second team defence is better than the first and if the pairing of Kante and King is about as good as it gets. It was just so good to see the latter in attacking mode again.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Something we are doing in training is bang on, minimal injuries and great fitness... sports scientist certainly do work
johnny the fox Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Something we are doing in training is bang on, minimal injuries and great fitness... sports scientist certainly do work that fooker is tempting fate..
BoyJones Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Yes, was very surprised how laboured West Ham looked in extra time. They were playing for penalties as soon as extra time started.
MPH Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Our excellent fitness levels has been highlighted a few times but I think it really kicked home tonight just how fit our squad is. From 80 minutes onward it was almost embarrassing how more energetic we were than the West Ham. Hats off the sports science team! You are right, but remember that our starting 11 havnt played as much in the premier league as theirs whilst that was close to being their first choice team who were probably quite tired...
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 22 September 2015 Posted 22 September 2015 Ranieri is renowned for his team's fitness levels
sphericalfox Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 It's a little bit of a shame we've had to rely on this aspect of our team's strength. We've undoubtedly benefited in our ability to wear teams down for the necessary combacks. The positive is that our reserve team are as fit as our 1st team and any enforced changes we may need to make shouldn't impact us too badly in the long season ahead, especially the last third of the season. Let's hope a good cup run (or two!) can enable form throughout too.
FoxonMaui Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Not only were we way fitter than WHam, we played so much better as a team, everyone was pulling together, it speaks so highly of the extraordinary team spirit within the club.
Steve Earle Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Yes, was very surprised how laboured West Ham looked in extra time. They were playing for penalties as soon as extra time started. Or how laboured we made them look
C-man Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Quite a turnaround given from 55-80 we looked knackered having chased the ball for long spells. All three subs helped turn the tide. Kante does the running of about 6 men, so it's little surprise he continues to change games.
Vicki Vixen Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Doping tests in football are way behind other professional sports. Our fitness levels this season would give Lance Armstrong some competition.
Russell sprout Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Good post, said exactly the same to my mate i go with, some of there players were struggling to stand up,we looked like we could have gone another 90,shows how important sports science is
goose2010 Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 For not one play to go down with cramp in 120 mins especially for players that haven't had many 90 minutes under their belts for a while is a credit to the training staff and the players themselves, never seen such a healthy squad I think most of them could of gone for another 120 minutes!
Clever Fox Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 That's why so many clubs are studying our methods, Another great legacy of Pearsons. I'm also sure Ranieri has added his experience to it also.
Benji Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 I was very surprised Bilic didn't make a defensive change until the second half of ET. Their defenders were dead on their feet. In fairness to both sides they avoided the usual ET cramp stoppages.
BigMicky Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 In fairness West ham had a team comprising of mostly players that had played on the Saturday, we had 9 fresh players.
BigMicky Posted 23 September 2015 Posted 23 September 2015 Doping tests in football are way behind other professional sports. Our fitness levels this season would give Lance Armstrong some competition. Barcelona/Spain/Pep maybe????
