whoareyaaa Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 De leat is a weak point imo, 1 good game shouldn't cover all the errors he makes, Schluup isn't a LB and Fuschs needs to step in, Benny looked good against West Ham so he should be given a chance considering all the goals we are leaking. Defence is our problem right now, sort that out and we should be fine.
Wymsey Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Oh, look, De Laet is the scapegoat again. Answer this: with his helpful presence up the field, who would do better than him (especially as he's considered a wing-back*)? He has been used as a wing-back largely under Pearson, but Ranieri is adopting this trend too now. Very much doubt the Tunisian guy and Was would assist the wingers.

Play 3 at the back Fuschs as left wing back and Albrighton/Dyer on the right. De leat is a liability, even Pearson didn't like playing him.
Foxxed Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 I'm not convinced dropping Schlupp from defence is the best idea. If our strength is counter-attacking, then Schlupp as a wing back is a great asset.
Benguin Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 3-4-1-2 Kasper Huth Benny/Fuchs Morgan Schlupp Kante DD Albrighton Mahrez(not central, where ever he needs to be, basically freedom) Vardy Ulloa/Kramaric
Steven Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 3-4-1-2 Kasper Huth Benny/Fuchs Morgan Schlupp Kante DD Albrighton Mahrez(not central, where ever he needs to be, basically freedom) Vardy Ulloa/Kramaric This; well at least in terms of formation. Kasper Morgan Huth Benny Schlupp Kante DD Albrighton Mahrez Vardy Ulloa
Babylon Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Since when has Mahrez been better central? He has barely played there, and when he has, he has been mostly ineffective. Southampton at home - Scored two. Villa second half - pretty much created all three goals. Don't know if it's his better position, but I certainly wouldn't say he's been ineffective in that position.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Agree with the majority in saying we need to go back to the back 3. Yes we have had a good start, but defensively we have looked wide open in pretty much every game and could have easily lost games that we have drew and won. The back end of last season we looked solid defensively as well as pretty effective going forward.Kasper Wasyl/Benny Huth Morgan Albrighton KanteDrinkwater Schlupp Mahrez Ulloa Vardy
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 At home: Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Huth Fuchs Kante Drinkwater Dyer Mahrez Schlupp Vardy Away: Schmeichel Benalouane Huth Morgan Albrighton Kante Drinkwater Fuchs Mahrez Vardy Ulloa

Kasper Wasyl/Benny Huth Morgan Albrighton Kante Drinkwater Schlupp Mahrez Ulloa Vardy I really cant see why we are not playing this line up. We can attack, score goals and defend with 5 at the back, obviously it all relies on pace at wing back, but that's what we have in schlupp and albrighton. If we go ahead we get the option of either pushing on or switching to 4 at the back. It just seems to me were going to go 3/4 of the season rediscovering what was known to be a good system for us in the first place. We need a tifo with this formation on it.

Babylon Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 he can't cross and never shoots so what helpful presence does he have up the field? He's not in defence to cock up... that's helpful in a way.

Can't remember Southampton but I'm pretty sure he moved back to the wing against villa after some other substitutions having not done much centrally
Dickov22 Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Vardy can't play as a lone striker. Needs a partner
filbertstreet Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 Vardy can't play as a lone striker. Needs a partner Reminds me of that Disney film with the robot VARD-E
Finn Claw II Posted 30 September 2015 Posted 30 September 2015 3 at the back was great but I can't help but think 4 at the back is the long term solution. 3 at the back invites teams to double up on the wings and push our wing backs back, which creates loads of space for us on the break. Mahrez needs to decide if he is a number 10 or a winger. If he is a winger, he learns to track back. It's part of a winger's job. If he wants to be a number 10 shift Dyer or Albrighton to the right.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 Get rid of De Laet for a better right back then. I'd much rather that than limit Mahrez's ability to cut in from wide which is how he gets the vast majority of his goals and assists. What? One of his few problems come when he isolated on the wing. When he's central he is not isolated. When he's central he doesn't have go go round three players to get to the danger zone. Him out on the wing is a lot easier for defenders - the can only go left - if he goes right the ball is out of play. Centrally he has double the options, and the defenders double the problems. It's a complete no brainer. And I echo earlier poster's point. Southampton and 2nd half Villa is the evidence against your claim.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 I'm not convinced dropping Schlupp from defence is the best idea. If our strength is counter-attacking, then Schlupp as a wing back is a great asset. Not sure I understand what you are saying here. Schlupp has been shocking in defence this season so why not drop him from the DEFENCE? If we need him in an attacking sense simply play him further forward
Jimmy Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 Not sure I understand what you are saying here. Schlupp has been shocking in defence this season so why not drop him from the DEFENCE? If we need him in an attacking sense simply play him further forward except he hasn't been shocking in defence this season he's been average, same as the CB's we get ripped apart down our right hand side, last time I checked that wasn't where Schlupp was playing
Guest Posted 1 October 2015 Posted 1 October 2015 This my stab 3-4-1-2: Kasper Benaloune Huth Wasilewski Albrighton Drinkwater Kante Schlupp/Fuchs Mahrez Vardy Ulloa
Great Boos Up Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 This my stab 3-4-1-2: Kasper Benaloune Huth Wasilewski Albrighton Drinkwater Kante Schlupp/Fuchs Mahrez Vardy Ulloa Lots of foxestalk saying this formation. Maybe it should be posted on Union FS tifo display if things don't go well tomorrow.
dayday Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 As mentioned go with 3 centre backs, I would like to see Benloaloune,Huth and Fuchs in that role Albrighton and Sclupp wing backs Kante, Drinkwater and Mahrez in midfield Vardy and Ulloa up top. That would give us great balance in the side
Thracian Posted 3 October 2015 Posted 3 October 2015 Whatever people might like we'll play 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1. Four from Drinkwater, King, Kante and Inler will form the central midfield three because two's not enough and that's been apparent on many occasions before Pearson started playing a midfield five. For all his individual brilliance Mahrez is problem child number one but there are so many others including our centre-backs, our full-backs, the forever frustrating Schlupp and who, if anybody to partner Vardy. Ranieri has stated constantly that his first responsibility is to collect the points necessary for survival and will have been appalled at the benevolent way we conceded five goals and chances aplenty. He might even play Inler (he dearly wants to) and leave King as the main midfield option off the bench. But either way it wouldn't surprise me if we play the way we did against Spurs. Two supposedly impregnable banks of 4/4 or 4/5 in front of Kasper to keep the game tight with Vardy plus our wide men trying to plunder something from next to nothing. Attacking with abandon will be forgotten because we don't really have the team to move forwards and backwards as a fluid unit as Arsenal emphasised with interest!. However we play I can't see Norwich failing to score - Morgan and Huth aren't playing with anything like last season's assurance - so 1-1's the best I'm hoping for.
