Gary Eatfood Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Yeah shes as blind as a bat She wasn't playing in goal for Watford today was she?
foxfanazer Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Jamie Escovards should be his new name with all the coke he must be going through
Filbert_Ross Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 The question is, would we rather Jamie break the record against Manchester United, but lose, or Vardy fail to break the record but win? Win or course.
shen Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 This is only a minor annoyance of mine, but it irks me when journalists, reports (e.g. the post match interview with Ranieri on the Beeb and on the FA site) etc. say that Vardy has now got "9 in 9". No, he bloody hasn't! He has 11 in 9!
Nick Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 If he does it, at St.James Park, for me he'll take the record as I think RVN did it over two seasons rather than just one.
Nick the Stats Guy Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 A quick bit of research found that Gerd Müller scored in 16 consecutive games for Bayern Munich in the 1969-70 Bundesliga, meaning that for a world record, Vardy may be a fair way off. And also, keep in mind that RVN did play for Manchester United at the time of the ten-game streak, so, in a way, Vardy breaking that record would be like beating Man U as well. That said, I would greatly prefer the record over a Man U win. Wins happen fairly commonly. This record was last broken ten years ago.
Bayfox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 People would actually rather Vardy got a record than the team win? Kudos to Vards even getting close to this, shows what fine form he is in, but if he holds a record at the end of the season and we miss out on Europe by a point or 2 I know where he can shove his record. For the record, that's on Englands left wing.
Captain... Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Against Newcastle I would rather we won than Vardy score, against Man United, I would be very happy if it was 1-1, I would probably be ok if we lost 2-1 and Vardy scored to break Ruud's record. Beating Newcastle is important to maintaining our reputation as a top 10 team, one of the best of the rest. I can cope with losing to United, we are very unlikely to be near them come the end of the season, but losing to Newcastle may just sow a little bit of a doubt, are we in a false position, are the wheels coming off. Obviously I hope we win every game and Vardy scores in every game until May, but I'm not deluded enough to think that will happen. Does Vardy have any other records in this run? Most goals in the prem after 12 games?
MC Prussian Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Well, with the run Vardy's on at the moment - regardless of his scoring streak in consecutive games, theoretically he could hit around 45 league goals in total comes the end of the season. Joint record season top scorers are still Alan Shearer and Andy Cole with 34 each.

Couldn't find an equivalent for fastest to 10 goals.
johnny the fox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Que: the season ending fookin injury.... i hate all this speculation its tempting fate.
Captain... Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Que: the season ending fookin injury.... i hate all this speculation its tempting fate. Have you not seen him, he is indestructible, pulled groin, broken wrist, pain killing injections in the ankle, battered from pillar to post every game and still gets up to smash in penalty, if a normal man had hit it that hard they would have broken their foot and pulled their leg out of its socket.
bovril Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 The real record is Stan Mortensen (?) who scored 11 goals in a top-flight season, not just Premier League. This was done in the 50s so it'd be amazing if Vardy reached or bettered that record. It's not all about Van Nistelrooy and football since 1992! I was actually just about to ask this. And as for the 'would you rather Vardy scored or we won' question, get a grip. I wouldn't care if he didn't score again this season if we were still winning.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 If Vardy missed the Newcastle game (didn't play at all), the record would still be on yeh? As its goals in consecutive games for the player?trying to settle a debate here
ScouseFox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 If Vardy missed the Newcastle game (didn't play at all), the record would still be on yeh? As its goals in consecutive games for the player?trying to settle a debate here yes. it's "consecutive premier league appearances" not just games. so if he was injured or banned or dropped it wouldn't be an appearance.

Didn't Messi have 20 games or something in the last couple of seasons? I may have made that up, but sure I remember hearing it somewhere.
