Guest Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 A quick bit of research found that Gerd Müller scored in 16 consecutive games for Bayern Munich in the 1969-70 Bundesliga, meaning that for a world record, Vardy may be a fair way off. And also, keep in mind that RVN did play for Manchester United at the time of the ten-game streak, so, in a way, Vardy breaking that record would be like beating Man U as well. That said, I would greatly prefer the record over a Man U win. Wins happen fairly commonly. This record was last broken ten years ago. Messi has scored in 21 consecutive games before

Nick the Stats Guy Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Didn't Messi have 20 games or something in the last couple of seasons? I may have made that up, but sure I remember hearing it somewhere. Messi scored 33 goals in 21 consecutive La Liga games. Yeah, you're probably right. The article I found was published in 2008, so the record may have been beaten by then. Imagine if Vardy actually broke that record...
Jack1993 Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Once he matches/beats the record can we sing him a creepy, slow love song? I'm thinking Elton John, It's a little bit funny this feeling insideI'm not one of those who can easily hideI don't have much money but boy if I didI'd buy a big house where we both could live If I was a sculptor, but then again, noOr a man who makes potions in a travelling showI know it's not much but it's the best I can doMy gift is my song and this one's for you And you can tell everybody this is your songIt may be quite simple but now that it's doneI hope you don't mindI hope you don't mind that I put down in wordsHow wonderful life is while you're in the world I think that, performed slowly would just about creep everybody out enough... alternatively I could linger outside his house and sing to him solo. I'm open to suggestions...

Jack1993 Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Can we do the Ellie Goulding version? You're a lunatic, I don't understand how you could even think that would work.
Lionheart10 Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 The question is, would we rather Jamie break the record against Manchester United, but lose, or Vardy fail to break the record but win? I would rather he break the record and us lose, imagine the atmosphere if he does it against them!!
separator Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 There's a show on 5 Live at 7.30 this evening called 'Straight Outta Conference', about the journey from non-league to premier league, seems to be based around the Vardy story... Might be worth a listen. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06qcmv3

Might be worth a listen. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06qcmv3 Not sure if anyone is listening to this but they are interviewing Steve Walsh at the mo, said that when we signed Vardy he put a clause in his contract that if he ever played for England he'd get a bonus.
Filbert_Ross Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I would rather he break the record and us lose, imagine the atmosphere if he does it against them!! Find this really odd.
fuchsntf Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 One teeny weeny thing I would like to see Jamie improve on.... Scoring a brace and the odd hattrick as the season evolves. Do that he then becomes a true great. Even with an outage due to injuries or rest period, it would mean he still hits the 24+ mark. If city can come out with a good xmas period, he could be chasing the magic 30.
possiblygeorge Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Can we do the Ellie Goulding version? Can we lip sync?
StanSP Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Find this really odd. me too. team first and individuals next.

But he's since signed a new contract, hasn't he? I suppose the clause is still in his contract though, as it would otherwise render Walsh's comment irrelevant.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 He's had a couple of braces during the record breaking run... This. It bothers me a little that some news outlets are saying "Vardy has scored 9 goals in 9 games" - no, 11 goals in 9 games. His form is just unreal
Oxfordfox83 Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 I would rather he break the record and us lose, imagine the atmosphere if he does it against them!! Tough question, but probably have to go for the win, just because it's Man U. The best thing about Vardy is he'd be exactly the same...
fuchsntf Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 He's had a couple of braces during the record breaking run... I know, but that wasnt the point. Its him chasing not 20+ but 25-30.
davieG Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Never mind Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jamie Vardy should focus on Jimmy Dunne's goalscoring record from the 1930s http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3322602/Never-mind-Ruud-van-Nistelrooy-Jamie-Vardy-focus-Jimmy-Dunne-s-goalscoring-record-1930s.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
