Aus Fox Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 A few saying about QPR wanting 15 mil for Austin, what we have to remember is not a single club was prepared to meet that valuation. Therefore he is not worth the 15mil, I would put a similar price on Vardy but unsure if any clubs would be willing to pay that price.
MPH Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 it's a really tough one. How much is he worth but to who? To me, there isnt a price i can put on him. And that's because i consider him irreplaceable. He's quite a unique player with a unique situation in so much as I don't see any other way or method ( right now ) we can get someone as good as him in his peak years playing for Leicester City. Yet other clubs will see he is 29 and think that they probably get two top quality years left in him ( because what is Vardy without pace?) and won't come anywhere near how much most leicester fans would want for him... But its fair to say if Vardy right now and in the form he is in right now was playing for a team like Manchester United and people were interested in him, you can bet your bottom dollar that they would be turning down offers that are double some of the numbers i am seeing in this thread...

Remember West Ham owner saying something about it on twitter? and that was the reason they didnt want to sign him...
Freesolo Posted 5 November 2015 Author Posted 5 November 2015 Van Nistelrooy was 30 when he left Man Utd in 2006 and he was a beast playing for arguable the best team in the country getting 25+ goals a season guaranteed and he left for a mere 14 million Euros, I don't know what that is in today's money but it puts things into perspective
potter3 Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Don't think a potential buyer would want to spend more than £10-15m, but I don't imagine we'd accept anything near as low as that so it's a bit of a moot point.
Focks Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Angel Di Maria went to PSG for £44m and cost even more when Man U bought him. He's 27 and in my opinion an average player and struggled in the Prem. Vardy to a club that don't want to cash in would be £30m eezy
orangecity23 Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Market values for strikers have gone absolutely bananas in the last couple of seasons. 14 million might have bought Van Nistelrooy in 2006, but we now live in a world where Burnley paid 9 million pounds for Andre Grey while they are in the Championship. If the "big" English clubs are interested, we'd be beyond stupid to look for less than 20 million, there would be clubs queuing round the block to buy him for that much while he's in this form. Ask for the world, if a top 4 team is desperate enough, they'll pay it. All moot though, I couldn't bare to let him go personally. **** Liverpool and Spurs.
Great Boos Up Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 This scale starts at an over inflated Kramaric! Next year £10 million is a championship price! Right here right now, if the transfer window opens today; Chelsea would pay £35 million for quick fix and Liverpool would actually need him! So your highest pitch is actually a steal! FFS this isn't our private little pub chat. Journalists, agents and players read this. If we got 50 million which prima donna could we buy who wants to bust their guts for Leicester and score more goals for a newly promoted team that has just narrowly avoided relegation. Stop fuelling the fire. HE IS NOT FOR SALE!
Guest Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 Voted £20-25M Age is against him for sure but who else has pace like him out of the strikers in the division? His finishing improved beyond recognition. And to think I was up for selling him for a fraction of it last season
ARM1968 Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 He really is irreplaceable to be honest. You don't see players like him too often, pace, power, passion, stamina and the right sort of nasty - not the Costa kind. His age is against him but it might also be against us. If he finishes with the golden boot this season, big IF, he might consider a move to actually win something. He won't win anything with us if we're being honest. Depends if anyone comes in for him.
Gerard Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 How much would Leicester willingly accept for Vardy? You probably have to start at £40m. He's undisputedly the fastest and hardest working striker in the PL. His finishing, touch and intelligence has moved to a different level in 2015. This isn't a player who has been a 10 goal a season PL player for the last seven years and is having a flier this season, he's improved year on year without fail as he moves up the levels. Maybe this is his normal standard now and not an exceptional up turn in form, we don't really know? There is evidence in his attributes that he may well be top class, a world class striker, it's not inconceivable. He's 29 in January but hasn't got that many miles on the clock for a player his age, he hasn't been running himself into the ground since he was 16. Also with his wiry physique he might keep his speed up to 34 or so. It's imperative we keep him because he could get us European football (possibly Champions League?) and that will attract a better standard of player and possibly propel us to a top six club.
Russell sprout Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 In today's market and with him under lengthily contract easy 20 million
maddog Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 30m for us to consider selling in the summer. He won't want to leave anyway, we have made Vardy by giving him a massive opportunity. If we are in the Europa league next year then Mahrez/Vardy will both stay for at least 1 more season.
dylanlegend Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 I can't see any club wanting to pay what he's worth to us. I think he's got a good 2-3 seasons left in him (when his pace goes he's finished). With the money in the PL in this day and age id rather give him a new £70,000 a week contract for 3 years than sell him for any less than £20million. I see him as a Kevin Phillips type player. Nobody will pay what we would want for him unless he requests a transfer then we'll be lucky to get £15m as no-one will want to pay that for a 29yo
Captain... Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 If someone came in with an offer of £30m would you accept it?

Freesolo Posted 5 November 2015 Author Posted 5 November 2015 If someone came in with an offer of £30m would you accept it? No it would be silly he fits in to the teams style of play its not like we need the money
Freesolo Posted 5 November 2015 Author Posted 5 November 2015 Just found this if Vardy is worth 30 million he is with some esteemed company https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_association_football_transfers
katieakita Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Cannot see anyone paying what he is worth to us and premiership survival is worth considerably more than the £30 million transfer fee suggested, our Vardy inspired start to the season should already have guaranteed premier league football for next season for us. Probably a more interesting debate would be how much of next seasons Premier league money would the likes of Villa,Newcastle,Sunderland give up now to be ensured of a place in the premiership next season. We really do not need to sell our best players and that is something I probably have never been able to say in my lifetime, if we did cash in though the scouting team that brought in Vardy and Mahrez for about £1.5 million for both will have considerably more to find replacements. Also Mr Ranieri has a pretty decent record himself of unearthing talent.
justfoxes Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Wouldn't sell him they can all FOOK off !! We would have to pay at least double what we got for him to replace him then there would be no guarantee his replacement would be as prolific !
Lancasterfox Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 We all know how valuable he is to us, but I ask of you learned people who would you do a straight swap for, no cash changing hands just a straight swop?
ozleicester Posted 6 November 2015 Posted 6 November 2015 Of course he is worth way more to us, but I would put him at about 15 million, the bigger question is who would pay how much for him and where would he go? There arent many clubs that have 15 Million plus to spare and those that have may not be particularly attractive to him. But lets be honest, where would he go... Man U or City...Arse...Pool..Chel. other than that, why would he bother?
