Captain... Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 It is not known if this is related but the reaction to the shootings can easily lead to incidents like this and others. It needs rational thinking not gut revenge. That will be playing into ISIS hands. We are better than that. http://tribune.com.pk/story/991322/man-pushes-muslim-woman-into-oncoming-underground-train-in-london/ Not sure if it was related to the terrorists attacks or not: The suspect has been identified as Yoshiyuki Shinohara, 81. The attacker was an 81 year old Japanese man, not saying they can't be racially motivated, but maybe he didn't realise it was a muslim woman and thought it was a ninja
Rincewind Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Didn't see that he was Japanese. The article did say it was too early to be clear about the motive. Accident? Slipped or stumbled. There is also a link to an Australan man who punch a muslim woman. ramboacdc Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 I take your point but these aren't as widespread and fatal as the attacks in Paris or Tunisia - the perpetrators of those attacks are abhorrent but they're mostly isolated cases really whereas Jihadism is far broader and dangerous. Islamic extremism is a much greater threat to Europe right here and now. the only difference between my list and these attacks are that these are happening now, in a world where i can send news around the world in the press of a button and have widespread news pumped into my living room 24 hours a day telling me how scary the outside world is and how i should stay inside.
Jon the Hat Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 That is exactly the reaction the terrorists want. Just watched an interesting video from RT news. The reporter in Paris was Gearoid O'Hanhearn. I won't share the link as it will not agree with the majority of people. I am not sure I even agree after one viewing. Basically in ten minutes he was asked three questions and spoke about Western imperialism being to blame. A complete opposing view to what we have seen so far from the media and leaders. There is also a twutter page set up #notinmyname by Muslims across the world opposing ISIS. Presumably Western Imperialism is also to blame for the mass murder of Yazidi women in IS occupied lands? RT should be taken off the airwaves.

Peterborough is a bit more out in the sticks here in ontario and you get interesting types of folks up there. Like always most people are warm and welcoming but a few spoil it. That said during 9/11 the city i grew up in (Hamilton) for most of my life experienced a few issues. A few morons burnt down the local hindu temple which was about 2 miles from my house thinking all brown people are muslim. Its irrelevent whatever our skin colour or race is but goes to show that there are idiots everywhere.
Jon the Hat Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 There sure are idiots everywhere. Some of them try to take revenge, either on innocent or completely the wrong people. Some of them deride anyone who tries to suggest that open borders and nearly 1million refugees increases our risk of letting in a few bad apples.
Fox92 Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Interesting hearing Hollande just now use the word 'War' so many times, though I do agree, and confirms France will intensify operations in Syria.
MooseBreath Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 We can now add refugees: scared victims or opportunistic free loaders or potential terrorists? To be fair plenty of people wanted this question answered well before Friday night, only to be drowned out by the "compassion" mafia. Same people trying to bury difficult discussions in the aftermath of every one of these attacks by focusing on criticising any feint expressions of general anti-Islamic sentiment. You're right though, it is always the same.
ramboacdc Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 france delcares war then against a non recognisesd state. its kosovo all over again!
yorkie1999 Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 france delcares war then against a non recognisesd state. its kosovo all over again! Instead of dropping 20 or 40 bombs on Raqqa why don't they make a proper statement by dropping a nuclear bomb on the place and just be done with it.

ramboacdc Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Instead of dropping 20 or 40 bombs on Raqqa why don't they make a proper statement by dropping a nuclear bomb on the place and just be done with it. because they dont actually know where they are. if you want rid of I.S in my eyes you need boots on the ground. but it was our coalition that destabilised the whole place in the first place with the whole WMD's in iraq stuff in my eyes. if people are dying something needs to be done. unfortunately i dont know the answer. and it doesn't seem like anyone does.
Captain... Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 There seems to be a massive misunderstanding of what a nuke is in this thread, or ISIS, or both. It is pretty worrying that there are people out there who think that a nuke is the answer, the collateral damage of dropping a nuke would far outweigh any damage towards ISIS and would do more to further their aims. The fallout over Egypt, Turkey, Russia, Israel etc would be devastating. It would also be completely illegal potentially bring about retaliation and the destruction of the planet. A nuke is not just a really big bomb. We/they/all developed nations have enough really big bombs to blast Syria, Iraq, and the whole region to smithereens without causing any nuclear fall out.
lgfualol Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Instead of dropping 20 or 40 bombs on Raqqa why don't they make a proper statement by dropping a nuclear bomb on the place and just be done with it. Yeah, killing all the innocent people trapped there by ISIS in the process. That'll help.
ramboacdc Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 here we go!! France's fight is our fight - UK defence secretary Posted at16.44 Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has said the UK must reconsider launching air strikes against Islamic State targets in Syria, a move that would require consent from parliament. Speaking to the BBC, Mr Fallon said the French had made the right decision in stepping up its air strikes on the IS stronghold of Raqqa following Friday's attacks, because it was clear they had been planned in northern Syria. "France's fight is our fight" he stressed. "The terror is on our own doorstep."
Webbo Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 It'd be a nice gesture if our players and our crowd sang the French national anthem on Tuesday night.
AKCJ Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 It'd be a nice gesture if our players and our crowd sang the French national anthem on Tuesday night. Fat chance of our players singing our own national anthem to be fair...
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Yeah let's piss off the billion or so Muslims to attack the thousands at ISIS... Would hardly affect them really if they haven't done anything wrong
ramboacdc Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 It'd be a nice gesture if our players and our crowd sang the French national anthem on Tuesday night. i think they are. no one will boo thats for sure http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-34832114
yorkie1999 Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Yeah, killing all the innocent people trapped there by ISIS in the process. That'll help. And dropping conventional bombs won't.

Okay, an atom bomb then. Seemed to work 70 years ago.
GaelicFox Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 The Guardian are suggesting that the French airstrikes were "unlawful". How can we defeat an enemy who doesn't haveto follow the same rules? If it's a declared act of war then the legality is beyond question I don't see ISIS opening up a war crimes case any time soon !
GaelicFox Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Okay, an atom bomb then. Seemed to work 70 years ago. Terrorism is like a bacteria it keeps multiplying and changing its DNA ! How many A bombs would you need to drop ! And how do you deal with the fact these guys were nearly all EUROPEAN ! 07-07 bombers mostly Yorkshire British ! Do We Nuke Bradford ? Nuke Evington Rd , St Mathews Where do you stop the nuking ?
Captain... Posted 16 November 2015 Posted 16 November 2015 Okay, an atom bomb then. Seemed to work 70 years ago. Same thing, in what way did it 'work' 70 years ago? It brought forward Japan's surrender by a matter of days. They were a beaten force it worked as a display of US power, it worked in instigating a Cold War which sees enough power to destroy the earth 10 times over with people like Putin and Bush and possibly Donald trump with the authority to launch. Just to bear in mind the bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed around 200,000 innocent civilians, around the population of Leicester. Put that into context less than 200 people died on Friday. In crude terms everything you felt on Friday, all that anger all that frustration all that fear all that hate and despair over those cowardly attacks try and multiply that by 1000 that is the result of using an atomic bomb.

Bang on. People that say 'just drop a nuke on them' and actually mean it as a viable solution are ****ing idiots. Nuclear bombs are NEVER meant to be used by anyone, for any reason. They are there as a symbolic status only - a measure to ensure that no country can obliterate another one without complete obliteration in return - which is pointless for everyone.
