  1. 1. Do we sign more in January and risk upsetting the squad

    • Yes, we need more quality and depth.
    • No, these are the players to take us to glory.

Probably been mentioned before but...

Voted yes, only because we may never find ourselves in this position again not because I'm unhappy with the current squad in any way!

I like the idea of making a ridiculous bid for someone. Not frittering cash away like the Sven days, but one big, ballsy headline-grabbing bid, like Robinho for Man City. It would be a real statement of intent - not just to other teams, but to players like Mahrez who might be thinking about "bigger" things.

That worked out well.

Christian Benteke on loan? Liverpool don't seem to want to use him.

You think they will want to help someone they will still see as a rival for a Euro position?

Depends what you mean re Robinho. He didn't live up to his price tag, but buying him (or even just bidding for him) made the world stand up and take notice of Man City.

As i said, it was a statement of intent. And something similar (for the right player, obviously) might just make the world realise we're not just plucky underdogs.

Depends what's available. I don't think we should go throwing silly money about - if we lose key players in the summer then we may need to alter the way we play. Couple of sensible, Walshesque editions would be great.

We've often looked at people nearing the end of contracts so suspect that may again be a factor.

2 additions I think. 2. Quite like the idea of Ranieri dipping into the Italian market for someone like Candreva, Maggio, Insigne.

Giovinco, Kruse, Brahimi would be decent shouts for that number 10/CAM role

But why do we need the world to realise anything?

We have got to top of the league without a marquee signing, why buy one now?

Imo, we just need better back up for Schmeichel, a decent rb and hopefully upgrade Leo to Austin and I think we're good to go.

I'd like Craig Gordon as a back up 'keeper to Kasper...

Giovinco would be PERFECT for our style

But we aren't Man City, we aren't going to spunk £30m on someone to make a statement and not worry about them being good. Perhaps it was just a bad example because he was guff.

We need to keep doing what we're doing and scouting talented players rather than just blowing a load on a "name".

Robinho shone in the Prem before getting injured every game.

15 goals from the wing in your first season is a great return for a side that finished about 9th.

He makes $7M USD a year in Toronto, and also isn't really the pressing type. Doubt that will work.

Fair point. I agree we're going about scouting/recruitment in the right way at the moment, and long may it continue.

I just think the way we're poised at the moment, it might be a good opportunity. Not lots of overpaid players or a famous has-been, just a marquee signing.

I'd rather the club reward Mahrez and Vardy first on big wages. Put them £70k (I think that's what Lukaku is on), even if either/both do eventually leave.

I think a marquee signing isn't a bad idea, not so much to impress our rivals but to give Vardy & Mahrez in particular an incentive to stay, and for our summer targets to want to join us too. Of course, the marquee target would have to satisfy all the usual criteria we insist on before making a signing.

I would also like to see us rebuff any attempts to prise our players away by knocking it back and also making a counter bid in order to unsettle our rivals. For example - Arsnal bid £30 mill for Vardy, we refuse it and put in a smaller bid (to insult them and imply we value Vardy more) for Sanchez. It would be fun!

I'm not opposed to a "marquee" signing... bit I'd only want to do it because we think they are a great player. Rather than us wanting to impress people in some way.

I've only heard of two strong/realistic rumours involving players coming it. RB/RW Tendayi Darikwa from t' Burnley and Demarai Gray LW from Birmingham. They both play in positions we don't have much cover for and with Jeff out, we really do need another LW. Gray has been linked with mid table teams like Liverpool Southampton and Spurs and he is only 19, so I'm guessing he would be around the £5M+ mark. If anyone is leaving I pretty sure it would have already been sorted, giving us time to get replacements in. Just no deadline day deals please!!! Sky's attempt to make it a big deal out of deadline day is just so tacky and unprofessional.

Can't help feeling that our amazing success has come out of the blue and not only surprised everyone but also left them confused about what to do next.  The aim of CR was to avoid relegation (40 points ...   40 points ...   40 points ... etc etc)  and like any good salesman manager he has achieved that and is now looking at next years target.  Why disrupt what he has and risk rocking the boat when he can wait for the summer and then add to the squad with more time and care .....   If we want to take advantage of where we are now then some big decisions need to be made, new targets set, and a transfer budget agreed.  Personally,  I'm happy seeing what this group can do and leaving things as they are, apart from (maybe) if a top level, proven goal scorer becomes available and has a profile that will fit in.  I really think we do have good strength in depth apart from if we lose JV.
