foxes_rule1978 Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 If it ain't broke, don't fix it? Nothing wrong with making it even stronger, especially to give us good cover for certain positions... we can't miss out on this opportunity
whetstonefox Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 I just like the thought of Leicester City approaching a quality player and asking them to help us win the Premier league!
Dr The Singh Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Good post...This is the first time, somebody's complimented me.
Thracian Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 If it ain't broke, don't fix it? No-one's saying it's broke. It's just that some of the parts are showing signs of wear and a timely servicing might just do the trick.
Izzy Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Nothing wrong with making it even stronger, especially to give us good cover for certain positions... we can't miss out on this opportunity Take your point, but if we do add, we'd better choose wisely. Ranieri talks a lot about this group being really good friends on and off the pitch and I'd hate to see that disrupted - even a tiny bit.
Gerard Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Stand still and fall behind. Embolo Carillo (either for a nominal fee or pre Bosman) A reserve GK
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Yes, definitely. We're in a unique position of knowing when the window opens that we'll be playing Premier League football next season and all of the money that comes with it. Let's spend a good chunk of it now, bring in players that can either help push us further this season or spend the second half of the season adapting and readying themselves for next season. If you can't tempt people in when you're top of the league when can you? It's well known that Walsh and co. target players whose contracts are close to expiring so good chance to bring in some people who are out of contract in the summer for reasonable fees now.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 Take your point, but if we do add, we'd better choose wisely. Ranieri talks a lot about this group being really good friends on and off the pitch and I'd hate to see that disrupted - even a tiny bit. Absolutely but I have faith in that we will bring in players of quality and the right attitude
AyewJoking Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 new GK defender who can play anywhere across the back but is happy waiting on the bench til someone gets injured/suspended someone mentioned remy, get him in on loan.
Rincewind Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 You cannot take the attitude that your team is at its peak. If you do there will be a time when certain players leave or lose form then it will be too late to replace hem. It has happened to top teams in previous seasons.. But saying this the replacements have to be right and that is up to the scouting staff to do the homework and find the right players.
mundella boy Posted 19 December 2015 Posted 19 December 2015 I think you must always look at improving your squad a good manager knows this and he knows how to intragrate new players
Fennec-Fox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 What about Slimani? Good option, but I think it's gonna be hard for Sporting to let their #1 striker to go in January since they are aiming seriously for the title this year.
EnglishOxide Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Actually if we are banking on CL qualification I wouldn't mind 2 or 3 top quality signings. They would be signed on the assumption that they won't walk into our team though, and mostly will be here to settle and integrate with the team in preparation for next season.
monsgon Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 May have to go in for new faces - players need resting allbrighton and vardy starting to look very tired. Ranieri stated at start of season that there was no way mahrez could play 38 games. But don't need to go for headline names - use our position and profile to pick up more hungry players - preferably fast ones who know thay can't walk into side.
J.Lisemore Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 I think its almost certain we'll go back in for Carrillo, quality player and clearly isn't signing a new contract. We'll face competition from some big clubs though.
Carl the Llama Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 I'd love Carrillo as long as he's aware that Albrighton and Mahrez won't be dropped for no reason and he's happy to fight his way into the team. What about that Amartey kid, any chance we'll be back in for him in January?
Merging Cultures Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Weren't be upsetting anything if we sell Kramaric and add a striker! As well as signing a winger! We only have mahrez, albrighton! Ranieri doesn't seem to rate dyer and schlupps injuredI think he does rate Dyer. He is playing the same players week in, week out because we are winning. Also, he knows Dyer is on loan, so our players get preferential treatment. Having said that, an additional winger would be very welcome.
Phube Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 History is both for and against strengthening in Jan. For: Norwich Against: Man City - Rodney Marsh, Newcastle - Asprilla So who knows!
katieakita Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Got to be the best time ever to strengthen, we have a chance for a top 4 finish a real good chance and if anyone thinks we will be paying over the odds in Jan for a player how much do you think they will want in the summer. We are deservedly top of the league so anyone who can walk into our first 11 will cost plenty of money and need to be a bloody good player. Many on here thought we would be lost without Esteban but he would not get into the team now, we have improved so much. Would not entertain any potential new player not thinking we are going places.
Far Post Gerry Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Only if a bloody good player, who we've been tracking, beomes available. No point just spending for the sake of it.
GaelicFox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Seriously leave it to Walsh and Claudio they know what they are doing , if they bring someone in I'm sure it will work out fine
Sampson Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Walsh was the head scout at Newcastle when they bought Asprilla in mid-season which cost Newcastle the title though. Though I'm sure he learnt from that mistake.
shailen Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 I do want to say yes, but I don't want to see us sign big name players that will have to play and could potentially damage the team spirit. Similarly I don't want to see us sign squad players. Ideally we need to sign top players that wil be happy to sit out and be patient for a chance in the team, which there are not many. Part of me wants to see how far this group can go, rather than New signings coming in and ruining team spirit...etc which could happen. It's a catch 22 imo, and we could regret taking either decision. If we were to sign player, I'd only want a quality full back, a CB and a winger. Apart from that we are good.
Deucalion Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Yes. If Vardy gets injured the other strikers will score nowhere near as many goals. If Mahrez gets injured, we won't create anywhere near as many. And if Kante gets injured..... The whole team would look very very different. I watched him closely today. The times he gets a toe in, or an interception to break up an attack...he is IMMENSE to this team. The Prermiership signing of the summer by a country mile is this bloke. Forget your Memphys Depays and your Martials. Kante is worth his weight in gold.
