40 Points - Say we are staying up!

So, we have achieved the 40 point goal, at the beginning of the season many of us said survival would be acceptable, with the bonus money in 16/17 we said the opportunity would be from that season on, we just needed to survive.

When the fixtures came out i looked at the december matches and said, ill be happy if we score a couple of goals and perhaps manage a draw... we won two, drew one and lost one... fcking ecstatic!.

Infact our 2015 was incredible and to be top at xmas was the stuff of dreams....Of course id love to stay in the top four, europe would be beyond my wildest dreams at this point. But lets be honest we will struggle to continue this run of form, the amount of negativity and whinging during and post the Bournemouth game is embarrassing, this is a team that has beaten some of the best and is playing good football, we didnt lose to them...it was a draw!

I hope that we stay in the top four.. i dont expect we will, but its a pretty fcked up season so maybe, just maybe.

Either way, we have survived, we are on the way to becomin g established and we have had the best year in LCFC history.

Thanks Leicester, owners, Claudio and everyone involved.

We have done what we originally set out to do, and to do it this early is fabulous; no matter what happens from now we will remain in the Prem, and hopefully establish ourselves as a top team in this division. We were so far away from this a year ago, and even if we do fall down we must appreciate how far we have come as a club.

Best year in LCFC history is grand hyperbole but it has been a pretty good year none the less :)

Well we have never been in a higher league position at the end of a calendar year in our entire history, so the claim has some substance

'are you an ostrich '?

..Let's hope we can kick on again after the fa cup 'break'. Our key player's quite obviously need a rest and battery recharge!...a couple of new, quality additions is imperative if we want to finish in the top 4 and take advantage of the incredible position we find ourselves in right now.

Without that support for vardy and Mahrez then our season could easily petter out and we will finish 9/10th and what an anticlimax that would be from being top at Christmas!

The transfer window is crucial for our CL dream, without bringing in options to score goals (Apart from coming from Vardy /Mahrez) then we're going to struggle for the second half of the season.

This is our chance, we may never be in this position again..

Break the Bank..

Show intent..

Invest Big!

We've already "invested big" in parts - investment on its own doesn't guarantee success or progress, it's how you use that investment.

One thing is clear: At one point we will definitely spend more money. :D

Sensational achievement to get the 40pts & safety, months before the season ends. Hopefully there is less pressure on the players now. I know the new point total to get is 79 and I defiantly believe we should try and achieve this goal too, but at least we have got the 40pts, which will ultimately guarantee us top flight football season next season. I actually reckon we can get 79pts if we can continue the form we know we can play, and with a few possible additions to the squad I think we can do it.

January is usually the worst time to invest money. You pay far too much in relation to what can be achieved. HOWEVER, on this occasion the opposite is true. very few clubs will get the opportunity we have now. Spend big on the right players and you get into the CL. need to look at sides who have been knocked out in the first phase and make em offers they can't refuse for the three or four players who will make the difference where we need them to, get into the CL this season and there is no reason we can't do it again next time as we will be able to attract even better ones in the summer. miss out this time and will three of the top six sides ever be as poor again in the future?

Second half of the season will be a LOT tougher than the first. Anyone in the bottom half will just sit deep and play for a draw when they come to the KP, and probably do the same at home as well. Mahrez is going to be the center of attention for opposition defenders and the better teams will be taking a leaf out of Liverpool's book and be pressing us high up the pitch.

That being said, with a couple of quality additions in Jan I think we'll find another way to win. I'll make a rod for my own back and predict 4th spot on 72 points.

To get Champions league we need one point more than 5th, so this is the figure we need to look at, not the number of points previous 4th place has got, as during the 'big four' reign there has often been a considerable gap between 4th and 5th place (average gap 4th to 5th of nearly 6 points).

Over the last 10 years only two teams in 5th have scored 72 points, so 73 points gives pretty much a 100% chance of Champions league. Claudio has asked for 78 which allows for some slippage or odd statistics in this 'crazy season', so Claudio is right on the money statistically.

But even 68 points gives an 80% chance of Chmpions league, which means we are more than half way, which looks entirely achievable. Just win at home 9 times and one draw away. Simples!

I'd settle for 80% chance of Champions league. Is it all a dream? When do I wake up?

I'm absolutely over the moon that we have achieved 40 points but that should be the b all and end all of our season.

LCFC from September were always going to avoid relegation. You have to think positively, the glass is have FULL!!

Agree, but with the way this season has panned out so far, will there ever be a better chance to get top 4?

The worry for me is that our style of play has been sussed and we didn't have answers yesterday. No need to go into meltdown, but the next 3/4 games will be interesting.

40 points is a great milestone to hit this early in the season. But if we are honest, from mid-late October we've known this team was capable of so much more than the magic 40. Time to push on and keep the level of performances shown in the first half of the season up over the second half, starting by getting back to winning ways away at Spurs next Wednesday.

Now on to the next target. Another 40 points.

Never in a million years!

25 is more likely..

Unless we buy and get options to score goals without having to rely on vardy and Mahrez.

At the start of the season you would of said 'never in a million years' to us being second in the league at this stage of the season. Anything is possible but we do need to invest seriously in January if we're seriously looking to finish for a European spot.

It's a massive achievement and deserves congratulation. But we should start thinking about the least we'll need to qualify for Europe. Our focus should be on maintaining our challenge for the title and breaking clear at the top if we can get the chance again. If we focus on less then we'll bring far more pressure on ourselves. The psychology is so important and ours has been iffy of late.

Can I presume you mean 'shouldn't' and 'half'?
