Spurs AWAY League Early thoughts

I can see us struggling for goals again with Simpson and Fuchs returning to full back, distribution and overlaps are key and at least in the former there is none. Let's not forget we've gone 3 games without a goal, and there were some decent performances today Benalouane especially who was barely troubled throughout.

Bit harsh on a couple of players but we'll go back to our usual team, Okazaki and vardy upfront if he makes it. If he doesn't then I wouldn't be suprised to see Inler in and a lone striker to begin with.

We're having quite a good little battle with Spurs since we got promoted (and as others have said, we've not had the tub of the green):

December 2014 (Home, League) 1-2 - Battered them, should have had a penalty at the end.

January 2015 (Away, Cup) 2-1 - Last minute winner, Kramaric booked for being wiped out by Vorm

March 2015 (Away, League) 3-4 Spurs get dodgy penalty at 2-2 after decent fightback.

August 2015 (Home, League) 1-1 Even game. Again should have had a penalty when Vertonghen fouled Mahrez.

January 2016 (Away, Cup) 2-2 Close game ends in a draw after another Spurs penalty decision goes their way.

We've now got 2 more games in the next 10 days meaning we'll have played Spurs 7 times in under 13 months.

if we play spurs 7 times in a year and harry kane still has two legs attached to his ugly body by the end of it our defence needs to take a very long, hard look at themselves

Although I'm tempted to see Inler in the middle again with Drinkwater and Kante I think we are so much better against ANY team playing 4-4-2

Schmeichel

Simpson

Huth

Morgan

Fuchs

Mahrez

Kante

Drinkwater

Gray

Okazaki

Vardy

Subs: Albrighton, Benalouane, Chilwell, Schwarzer, King, Ulloa, Inler

Kasper

Simpson

Wes

Huth

Fuchs

Gray

Drinky

Kante

Albrighton

Mahrez

Vardy (if fit)

This should be the team imo. I think Gray did enough today to warrant a starting place. As did chillwell but Fuchs just deserves it that little bit more.

Wouldn't risk Vardy if not 100%, hopefully Okazaki's confidence will be sky high after a decent half.

Wasyl has had two outstanding games recently and would love to see him given a full 90, though wouldn't be disappointed with Huth starting.

Get Gray on for the last 15/20 if we need a goal.

Hope we smash these bastards! Fuchsing hate Spurs!

Vardy

Vardy to get 20 min, Gray on second half too.

I wouldn't start Vardy 8 days on from surgery, but 20 min at the end could be fun. Kramaric if still with us if Vardy not fit.

Save Was to start against Villa.

I feel a lot more confident about this after watching that game earlier. Maybe not a win but I don't fear them as much as beforehand. We kept them largely at bay with a very changed team.

Simpson---Wes----Huth----Fuchs--

-Mahrez---Kante---Drinky---Albrighton-

---------Ulloa----Okazaki-----------

Subs: Schwarzer, Wasyl, Benny, Chilwell, Inler, King, Gray

No sense in risking Vardy. Can't see Kramaric making the squad now.

the most pleasing part was that they brought kane and alli on to swing the game their way with half an hour to go and kane literally touched the ball about three times. against a completely second choice back four.

would love to see Gray get another game. I was hoping him being subbed was to make sure he's fresh for Weds, and considering he didn't play last weekend he must be raring to go. If Vardy is fit he goes straight in with Okazaki for me. 442, although 433 with Vardy Mahrez and Gray does sound appealing.

I'm not too bothered about yesterday's daylight robbery as it will give us an extra edge and impetus for the league match and could help us.  Gives Chillwell, Inler, Benny etc another ninety minutes against qulaity oppo in the replay.

Had it had happened in the league match however I wouldn't have slept for a week.

Claudio Ranieri had some positive news for Leicester City fans regarding the fitness of top scorer Jamie Vardy ahead of Wednesday night’s Barclays Premier League trip to face Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker, who turned 29 on Monday, sat out Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup clash at White Hart Lane as he recovered from a minor groin injury but after he came through a warm-up in training on Monday morning, Ranieri was optimistic about his chances of being fit.

Vardy has an incredible 15 goals to his name this season, making him the Premier League’s joint top scorer alongside Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, and having him available will present a major boost for the Foxes at White Hart Lane.

“He is getting better,” Ranieri said. “This morning he joined in the warm up with the team and then trained differently, so tomorrow I will check. I think he will be okay.

“I don’t know exactly what the problem was. I am not a surgeon. It is a little problem he had and the procedure was small. Now he can run normally without any problem.

“Jamie had a problem for a month, more or less, and he continued to play. Now without the problem is much better. I'll see if he starts from the beginning and if he is ready to come with me on the bench. Every time he wants to play, I know him."

Elsewhere on the injury front, Jeffrey Schlupp remains sidelined with a hamstring injury while Matty James successfully came through two 90-minute friendly matches as part of his recovery. While there seem to be no additional knocks picked up during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Spurs in the FA Cup, Ranieri is keen to see his squad in training to assess their fitness for the league game.

“I have to check everybody. Tomorrow we have another training session. I changed eight players [for the FA Cup] so I will check and then decide the first XI.

“If the manager asked the players they always say they are okay but it is not always true so I want to see with my own eyes.”

While I'd be happy with Shinji and Leo if Jamie's not ready, I'm slightly concerned about their fitness and fatigue. Both are usually past their usefulness by the 65' with Leo going 90' and Shinji going 45' 3 days before. And it's unlikely Kram would come in as well with Leo kept on as a zombie to defend set pieces.
