Manwell Pablo Posted 13 January 2016 Posted 13 January 2016 As I'm quite sure you've all seen Lawro has been getting some stick for his anti Leicester predictions during the current season. However in my view if your going to slate someone's predictions, you should probably offer up your own, so assming we get the interest we are going to run a weekly FT vs lawro comp to see if he is actually is the "tw@t" "has been" and "footballing dinosaur" the forum makes him out to be. Format is simple, predict the games taking place over each fixture period and those games will be scored using the beebs scoring matrix. One member of FT will be selected every week, Stan_SP is up first, I'll randomly pick someone for the week after from those who pm me interest ( by randomly I mean funniest pm) Obviously anyone can have a go it'll just be the nominated forum member that counts. Over to Stan for his weekend predictions.
Buce Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Why not just compare Lawrenson's predictions with the Superbru challenge, and see where he would be in that table? You have a record of every weekend's games since the start of the season.
Finnegan Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Why not just compare Lawrenson's predictions with the Superbru challenge, and see where he would be in that table? You have a record of every weekend's games since the start of the season. This. Like I said, we've got a running prediction league at work already and I regular tot up his scores to see what he would have gotten. He'd be mid table at best. People don't slate his predictions just because they hate the guy, they slate them because he puts little to no effort in and makes stuff up nonsensically. Compare his scores every week to a betting guide or a super computer if you want a laugh.
MattyGamble Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 The problem isn't the frequency of him getting results correct. It is the fact he is so far up his arse that he predicts the most common scorelines of 1-0, 2-1, 2-0 and occasionally 3-0 JUST to come out with a better average than most who compete with him. If we did predictions ourselves we would chuck in a 3-3 and a 4-0 like the guests often do. He literally picks the same scores and scans the form book and puts a couple of paragraphs of bullshit and gets paid for it. That is the problem. That, and he clearly hates a club like us doing what his beloved huge Liverpool have rarely achieved in the modern era
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 The fact he hasn't predicted one Liverpool defeat I just find laughable
foxile5 Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Precisely. I described him as a 'footballing dinosaur' in the previous thread, this wasn't down to his ability to predict results. It's his set-in-his-ways pig headedness that earns him that title. Leicester, in his mind, are historically irrelevant, therefore they will always fit that tag. He isn't able to see past his own concrete, and often inaccurate, judgements. He predicted Spurs to win not because of the form book, not because of the result and performance on Sunday, not because of anyone in their starting line up. He predicted Spurs to win because in his head Spurs are a 'big club' and Leicester are a 'little club'. This is reflected not only in his predictions but also his punditry. Again, to reinforce this argument, this isn't a 'I can predict better than him' accusation. The man is a footballing dinosaur because his view of clubs is, and always has been, stagnant. He cannot see past his judgement of Leicester as a little club, he cannot see past his judgement of Liverpool as the best club in England. His opinions cannot be swayed or altered by fact and what is presented before him in the form of the league table, or by way of performances or even in light of peer's opinions. His opinions will, to him, always remain fact because he's a ****ing footballing dinosaur.

Would you hate him less if he predicted us to lose 4-0 every week rather than 1-0?
Fox92 Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Not really bothered what he says or thinks, just like every pundit. At the end of the day it's on his opinion, whether it's influenced or not (ie having Liverpool not losing). Think some of you take it too seriously at times.
MC Prussian Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 I suppose I'll be up the following weekend then, Mablo?
stretch1965 Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 For those that dont know this but At the foot of his BBC predictions page there is a league table based on his predictions. His beloved liverpool are lying third in the league and unbeaten, while the city are 4th bottom 2 points of relegation..............Twat I shouldnt let him get to me but he does and when I have had a beer at the weekend and feeling mischievous I feel like joining twitter just to abuse him. Childish I know but there I have said it.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 He's a Liverpool fan so is bound to live in the past
Fox92 Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 He's a Liverpool fan so is bound to live in the past Tbf I thought he supported Preston.
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 January 2016 Author Posted 14 January 2016 This. I think this will be funnier than a betting guide or a super computer (already does that, beat it over last set of fixtures) If his predictions are that non sensical this forum of footballing genius's should have no problem taking him to the cleaners?
ScouseFox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 nobody cares about the other 9 predictions, the only thing people are mocking is his predictions of us. he's said we will win 2 games (out of 21) so far this season. we've won 12. that is ridiculously wrong, I'm not sure why you are trying to defend that. all that said I'm not really sure why anyone cares.

I dunno why anyone cares, hence why the torrents of abuse confuse me, and recently everyone's been jumping on every prediction he makes not just ours which he continually gets wrong but as I've said 7/8 times now he expects us to fade away like most unfashionable teams who start well do. So, if it's so easy, they can stop squarking and lets how they get on against him. Don't see why anyone would have a problem with that unless they were worried Lawro would win but given his lack of research and knowledge not to mention his bias towards Liverpool there's no chance of that happening right?
Xen Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 I'm supposed to be revising for an exam tomorrow, so naturally I decided to input by hand all the GUESTS' predictions into a league table, to compare against Lawro's. Bearing in mind he generally beats them, but often they have very little football knowledge. Now there are a few in there which are obviously way out (Watford, Chelsea the main two), but on the whole I'd say that that table looks a whole lot more realistic than Lawro's with Liverpool unbeaten, WBA in fifth, and us/West ham in the relegation battle
Soar Fox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 I don't care about his predictions to be honest. I can understand if in the first few games he predicted a few losses as nobody knew how the team would react with a new manager. But as the season goes on and he's still predicting us to lose most weeks shows a complete lack of knowledge & ignorance. 21 games in joint top of the league with the least amount of losses, does he not realise we must be a bloody good team.
HitchinFox Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 To be honest, the more Micky Quinns, Daily Mirror pricks and Lawros the better. One of our strengths is that no one seems to take us seriously and everyone thinks our "bubble will burst". It's perfect. Complacency is our friend. No one is learning despite us meating out lesson after lesson. Long may it continue - it just might until May you know...
CollinsLCFC Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 Seems like West Ham are fed up with him as well, the fans chanting "Lawro, whats the score" when 3-1 up after Magician Mark had them down for a 2-1 defeat.

StanSP Posted 14 January 2016 Posted 14 January 2016 has Lawro done his predictions for this weekend?
Manwell Pablo Posted 14 January 2016 Author Posted 14 January 2016 has Lawro done his predictions for this weekend?Doubt it, probably doing hours of research and matchmatical calculations first.Edit: oh no wait "the dinosaur" has done his scores.....one moment
