The Foxestalk vs Mark Lawrenson thread

And this is why people think he's a twat. Not because he predicts up to draw or lose, but because he says stuff like this will be their easiest game and then predicts a draw.

I sort of agree with him. The pressure is on Arsenal and they will come on to us whereas other teams will set up to contain us. Games against Norwich and teams like that will be the real test.

I agree with him on that part, but to say a game will be a teams easiest game and then predict a draw is bit stupid.

It is tempting to join in the Lawrenson hate-fest, but my take on his performance is that his prediction technique is similar to your pension fund manager. Completely risk-averse. He predicts wins for the biggest clubs, because they have the strongest squads and spent the most money.

The devils advocate in me could maybe understand his scepticism at the beginning of the season. Leicester. No big signings from the premier league. A free transfer bargain from the Bundesliga, an unknown from France, a centre back mid-table Stoke didn't want, and a couple of also-rans from other European leagues, none for big fees by premier league standards. And a new manager who had apparently failed disastrously with the feeble Greek Euro qualification campaign.

But when he is proved wrong week after week you would think he would learn and adapt.

November, the league table doesn't lie, December, the table doesn't lie, January, the table doesn't lie, Nearly half way through February the table doesn't lie.

Maybe he is starting to move in our favour just the tiniest little bit. Draw on Sunday? No comments on the lines of '...Arsenal's squad may just be a little too strong for Leicester...'

After all, when did Leicester last win at Highbury?

After all, when did Leicester last win at Highbury?

Arsenal haven't won there since 2005.

So, the top three sides are all bound to win this weekend according to Lawrenson:

He just wants the drama to continue. lol

Although with a somewhat resurgent Manchester United, I'm not sure Arsenal can expect an easy game or three points.

Spurs highly likely to win against Swansea is more of a concern.

And of course, Liverpool to win the Capital One Cup final! Good ol' biased Lawro!

"This is the start of a tricky-looking run of games for Leicester that will test their title prospects because they will largely be up against opposition from the bottom half of the table that is just trying to stop them from playing, rather than taking the game to them."

Wait I just thought we had our tricky run of games after the last tricky run of games.

Arsenal and Liverpool carrying on their unbeaten runs in this weekend.

In the ''Lawro League'', Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea have lost, between them, a grand total of 3 games. In the real world, the total is 32 defeats. What a belled the man is.

I predict that Lawro will not predict a single Liverpool or Arsenal defeat all season.

Cram's prediction: Being a Sunderland fan I am not sure Palace are safe yet and would love them to be dragged into the relegation battle. I want Leicester to win the title and my heart and my head says 0-2.

He lets his personal prejudice affect his judgement. Seems he can't move on from the 'little' Leicester no-mark club image that he's been brought up on. He's struggling to get it.

Forgotten his Preston roots, it seems. Or perhaps that's the problem - it's one of the 7 deadly sins.

Never rated Lawrenson as a player and even less as a pundit. The fact is he was an ordinary player in an exceptional Liverpool team who won everything during their halcyon, never-to-return years.
