Countryfox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Pub talk boll*x I'm afraid but who are our rivals now ? Bit of head scratching from us .... But who are our rivals ?? Cov long gone ? Direby ? Florist ? ..... Not any more. Villa ... (still in the prem) ... but only just.
ScouseFox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 sunderland arsenal scousers barcelona madrid
Tuna Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Spurs, we've played them 7 times since December 2014.
Countryfox Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 Arsenal now for sure! Oh Lordy Lordy how times have changed !
Izzy Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Pub talk boll*x I'm afraid but who are our rivals now ? Bit of head scratching from us .... But who are our rivals ?? Cov long gone ? Direby ? Florist ? ..... Not any more. Villa ... (still in the prem) ... but only just. Funny, I was thinking exactly this yesterday. I grew up on Forest as our main rival during the 80's and 90's and I still look out for their results in the hope they get a good beating. But it's not the same now and I guess we've moved on to a different level to them and Derby. Cov are just dog shit on our shoes and we'll probably never play them for years unless a cup tie so they're irrelevant now. I think Sky would like us and Villa to be rivals and seem to televise our games but it feels a bit false. So, it FEELS right now as if Spuds and Arsenal are our current rivals which is a bit weird. But living 'darn sarrf' as I do, it's reall got my juices flowing this season and I hate the cockney scum. I guess Man Utd would sort of class Chelsea and Arsenal as rivals after years of battling it out for the PL, so if we can stay amongst the big boys who knows who are rivals will be. Interesting thread, will be keen to see others' thoughts...
Corky Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 I still look for their results because of possible promotion but I haven't heard a song at a game about either East Midlands team since promotion.
Izzy Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 I still look for their results because of possible promotion but I haven't heard a song at a game about either East Midlands team since promotion. I don't get to games now, but my favourite songs of yesteryear were: If I had the wings of an eagle.. We hate Nottingham Forest... Forever and ever, we'll follow our team... We hate Forest and we hate Forest.. All things bright and beautiful... Do these not get sung any more?
Countryfox Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 Funny, I was thinking exactly this yesterday. I grew up on Forest as our main rival during the 80's and 90's Me and you both Muzzett .... sort of half remember my (much) older brother giving me a LCFC scarf with (allegedly) some Florist blood on and being told to never wash it. Something to do with a night after the last train at the Koh e Noor and a plate glass window on London road ... things were so simple then. Silly old f**ker watches the Tigers now.
iancognito Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 All on our own, we're all on our owwwwwn, No Derby or Forest We're all on our own. Your local rivals are your only true rivals, it's not based on being in the same division. United despise Citeh and Liverpool far more than Arsenal & Chelsea. Same with Arsenal, them & Tottenham will always be true rivals no matter where they are in the table. Ask Southampton if they consider Stoke and Crystal Palace bigger rivals than Pompey........
Great Boos Up Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Did the score predictor thingy and it's Arsenal all the way. The fookers.
Larry_LCFC Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Spurs and Arsenal can fvck off. Something about both of them I just really, really despise.
Soup Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Yeah let's change rivals every season. Watford,.Burnley and now Arsenal. How tinpot is that, makes me wanna puke.
Izzy Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Yeah let's change rivals every season. Watford,.Burnley and now Arsenal. How tinpot is that, makes me wanna puke. So what are you saying then? To answer the OP's question, who do you think are our current rivals?
Countryfox Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 So what are you saying then? To answer the OP's question, who do you think are our current rivals? Don't waste your breath Muzzett he's offline now. Spose young master Soup has a point though ... I've just realised its still Direby and Florist for me ... always was and always will be. Answered my own bloody question !!
NewEnglandFox Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 We are 6 months away from the press declaring West Bromwich Albion our rival in the Midlands derby. We need to accept that.
filbertstreet Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Need to enter Leicester in the World Cup
SemperEadem Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Forest, Derby, Cov and to some extent Villa. Always will be these poverty clubs.
kyleolly Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Used to be forest and cov but now it's Man City (all family related)
Leicesterpool Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 We need Derby to come up just so we can have a big rivalry to look forward to.
Countryfox Posted 19 February 2016 Author Posted 19 February 2016 We need Derby to come up just so we can have a big rivalry to look forward to. Nah .... Let em go down so we can have a big smug smile !
Hollism Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 We don't have a local derby, let's be honest. West Brom and Stoke will have each other next season, and we'll be all on our own
Sampson Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Who would be the closest Premier League side to us if Villa go down? West Brom probably? That's fecking miles away and feels far too far to be a local derby? I must say I've been completely swept away the past couple of seasons so what Forest, Coventry and Derby are doing has completely gone over my head and I'd kinda forgotten about them. It's not been an issue though. We've never really had a big derby match, I don't really see the problem with that. If a competitive rivalry occurs with some team after some fiery battles (like it did against Wolves in the early 90s), then so be it, but let's not try and artificially force one!
