Dan Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 No-one really. Just the way it is when we're no-one's local game. We don't have any particularly heated rivalries in my opinion. Proven by the apathy I have towards Derby and Forest these days. Doubt Sunderland fans felt like that about Newcastle when they were down.
Great Boos Up Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 Yeah let's change rivals every season. Watford,.Burnley and now Arsenal. How tinpot is that, makes me wanna puke. Sort of my point, now lots of fans from lots of clubs talk to me with some genuine interest and plausible discussion. Apart from Gooners who have no links with London and talk absolute self obsessed shite. Local club fans know where we have come from and show some genuine empathy and jealousy.
Donut Posted 19 February 2016 Posted 19 February 2016 We need Derby to come up just so we can have a big rivalry to look forward to. We dont. We really dont.
NoFuchsGiven Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Never really hated forest and derby with a passion, dont get me wrong i dont like them by any means. They don't consider us as main rivals so why should we. Personally i hate west brom but that would certainly not be classed as "local"
Aus Fox Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 This is one of the issues in a one club city, we don't really have any- I think if all the midlands teams were in the same division only Cov would see us as their main rival. I always loved the Forest games growing up and saw them as our main rivals. Funny that WBA will be our closest rivals, I used to see both Villa and Wolves as big rivalry games, but always had a soft spot for WBA. We never had an issue going to the Hawthornes. I think over the next few years unles Derby/Forest come up on their own, we will have different rivals each season based on what is happening on the pitch. I think the Internet has changed football rivalries, it used to be us working closely with Forest/Derby/Cov fans and being sick of their shit talk that lead to forming rivals. Now we can read everything that Burnley/Watford/Arsenal fans etc say we build up that rivalry in the same way.
Fox92 Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 One thing we miss, or I certainly miss, is a proper hatred rivalry (such as Birmingham/Villa) but at the end of the day we're a one club City and don't have major rivals.
Super_horns Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 I think our "rivals" are now Bournemouth - you should see the aggro and dislike for each other and the build up to our game against them next week will be akin to a local derby!
mozartfox Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Bournemouth and Sunderland. Clued up Fans that know what they are talking about.
los dedos Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Make's me laugh when other fans use us not having any rivals as a put down.Does'nt really bother me.I've hated Forest Derby in the past but not bothered now. I'll stick with who evers in the top 4/5 at the minute
LCFC FOX Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Forest and Coventry. Always will be. Derby sort of as well
Fox92 Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 I think our "rivals" are now Bournemouth - you should see the aggro and dislike for each other and the build up to our game against them next week will be akin to a local derby! Well I guess you won't be playing for Luton for a while anyway!

What on earth is Bournemouth's problem? Just plain weird!
ceredigion Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 In the early 90s there was a big rivalry with Wolves, largely because of all the shenanigans which broke out when Steve Walsh and Steve Bull were on opposite sides. There was even a brief period of enmity with Peterborough United when we were in the same division. I think they did the double over us and knocked us out of the Anglo-Italian Cup one season.
LanguedocFox Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Was always Florist when I was growing up (in Loughborough) and my best mate at school was a Florist fan. Used to take the p1ss in the 1970s and 80s, but last Christmas he said that he can't see the two teams ever playing each other again, apart from in the cups. He might be right. I just checked their position (first time in ages, to be honest) and they are 11 points off the play-off places, so they can probably write this season off as well. With the amount of money in the PL these days - especially next season - the relegated clubs are (usually) likely to come straight back up, so competition for promotion places among the rest will get more and more difficult. I can't say I am sorry about Florist. Apart from my mate, their fans were mostly horrible, and a look on the LTLF forum confirms that things haven't changed much.
Voll Blau Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 I don't get to games now, but my favourite songs of yesteryear were: If I had the wings of an eagle.. We hate Nottingham Forest... Forever and ever, we'll follow our team... We hate Forest and we hate Forest.. All things bright and beautiful... Do these not get sung any more? Most of them are sun every game in SK1. Will always be Derby and Forest for me. Anyone buying the "they don't care" myth is an idiot. Would be pretty happy to stay above them in the pyramid forever now mind.
Countryfox Posted 20 February 2016 Author Posted 20 February 2016 The mists are clearing in my crystal ball .... I see an ex LCFC manager going to a team that gain promotion from the prem ... they play in white and aren't too far away ... there mascot looks like a giant sheep .... he tries to nick some of our players and staff .... RIVALS !!
MakingEmileOfIt Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Arsenal are probably the team I dislike most in the prem.

promised land Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 We don't have a local derby, let's be honest. West Brom and Stoke will have each other next season, and we'll be all on our own ^^^^this, Villa is not and never will be a rival. As for Forest, Derby, they're in love with each other so let them get on with that tinpot cup they play for but what really makes me roll around laughing is the Forest muppets still think they have a huge rivalry with Liverpool. Delusional is not the word. Not arsed about a rival, just interested in us doing well.

Bayfox Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 Used to be forest and cov but now it's Man City (all family related) All family related? I thought that was Norwich and Ipswich
Foxxed Posted 20 February 2016 Posted 20 February 2016 I never hated Forrest growing up. Only dislike teams when their fans are particually up themselves. Same reason, dispute their billions, I don't mind Man City.
