Dr The Singh Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Great credit to Norwich, there tactics were spot on and our were not. If we didn't win this forum would be a totally different piece of shit
Dynamogoon Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Always gonna be tough, we are used to playing in the counter, can't do that when teams come with a game plan. Like all top teams, played average and won. Come on
Matt Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Oh and to the idiots of whom i've never seen before near me up and down all game, then walking out on about 85 minutes whilst saying 'This is the worst game i've seen in 5 or 6 years'. That is why you don't leave early. As for 'the worst game they've seen in 5 or 6 years' well that might explain why i've never seen you before, you obviously havn't been to many games in those 5 or 6 years, because today was fairly poor but abit of an over exageration claiming it was the worst it that many years considering where we've came from.
Captain... Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Credit to Norwich, they came with a game plan, they hassled and harassed our midfield pressing as a unit, but let our defenders pass it around, they were also very good at not letting Vardy get in behind. I wouldn't say the parked the bus, they were more proactive than that and with a bit more composure up top could have nicked a goal. It was interesting to see how West Brom lined up against Palace with a very un-Pulis attacking line up. Will they risk the same against us, or revert to type? Hopefully their result and our last minute winner will make them think twice about going defensive, whereas if Norwich had held on they might see it as a tactic worth taking. Today also highlighted just how important Mahrez is, his magic can unlock any defence, it was probably only one real moment of Mahrez magic today, but he can just waltz into penalty areas and create something when the defence think they are covered. He will do that once or twice a game and we need to make sure we convert those chances. There were some very cynical tackles on him and others today. Good to see Amartey, and Schlupp return, gives us real options. Finally, thank you Leo! Not the greatest goal ever, but a very very important one. I know I've not always been his biggest fan, but he always gives everything and and has made the difference a few times in his Leicester career.
theessexfox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Beautiful feeling that was, always lovely to get a last minute winner and what a way to shift momentum back our way after we were stung at Arsenal. We weren't very fluent, the ref was weak and Norwich were effective but spoilers, but who cares I'd have taken them having 21 shots to our 0 and a Ruddy own goal as long as we got the 3 points.
Carl the Llama Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Oh and to the idiots of whom i've never seen before near me up and down all game, then walking out on about 85 minutes whilst saying 'This is the worst game i've seen in 5 or 6 years'. Nah beating Norwich 1-0 at the top of the Prem is deffo much worse than losing 6-1 to Portsmouth at the bottom of the Championship.
StanSP Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Sickens me when away teams go to matches and play for a point at most. Norwich typified that and weren't subtle in their style of play either - overly aggressive in challenges and just rash all over the park. Whoever their right back is needs a lesson in how to time tackles. Naismith is just a dirty cvnt - that tackle on Vardy was nasty. And their time-wasting from the first few minutes of the match (!) was embarrassing and pathetic. Then they had the nerve to complain when we did it after we scored . Glad those fvckers went back to Norfolk with square root of fvck all. Despise that club and even more so after today.
weller54 Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Coommmeee onnn... Letttsss beee avvinnnnn youuuuu!!!!
Cornish Lair Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Today we won ugly. Winning matches like these, win titles. If you don't believe now, then you never will. All we can hope for now is that Man U beat Arsenal, and Swanesa beat Spurs tomorrow.
michigan_fox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Is Kante hurt, or was that purely a tactical sub? (Or perhaps a way to save a bit of energy for Tuesday?)
StanSP Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Is Kante hurt, or was that purely a tactical sub? (Or perhaps a way to save a bit of energy for Tuesday?) picked up a knock by the looks of it. pretty sure I saw him go straight down the tunnel with what looked like a staff member (possibly one of our physios?)
Great Boos Up Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Norwich marked Drinky out of the game, the man who supplies the ball to the assist to get the goal. They did some good homework but lacked quality. Armatey blew hot and cold and seemed a little scared of making a mistake (good character in a defender) but showed promise and will learn a massive amount from this game to nullify his mistakes of getting caught the wrong side of your man when possession turns over at Premier League pace. Just one concern; we gave away two stupid free kicks in injury time the very next game after Arsenal, suggesting we may still get punished against better teams. The 90 minutes just seemed to go much quicker after two weeks of no football. The sheer relief of that goal! It was like a long hard wank when your not turned on.
CosbehFox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Somebody is going to have to explain to me the rationale behind Simpson getting a yellow card for a shirt tug on Giroud out on the touchline whilst the Norwich number 24 (Bennett) stayed on for wiping out Mahrez 20 yards out as he's about to shoot. How is it that the first of these is seen as a nailed on yellow by "the letter of the law" (albeit harsh) by most neutrals and the other isn't? Referee was unbelievably bad today - had no control over the game whatsoever. He actually assisted with the slowing down of the game. Late challenges and aerial pushes for both teams went unpunished. How Tettey didn't get booked is beyond belief
Hubert Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 A bang average performance, poor game, 1-0 win and we're first on Match of the Day. How times have changed.
michigan_fox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 picked up a knock by the looks of it. pretty sure I saw him go straight down the tunnel with what looked like a staff member (possibly one of our physios?) Thanks. Just realized CR said he's had a hamstring issue they've been managing for a while now. Hopefully he's okay to play a good chunk of Tuesday's game. If not, perhaps Simpson returns to to RB and Amartey provides cover for King from the bench
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Reminded me of Leeds away the season we got promoted; a really frustrating game that we managed to nick in the last couple of minutes. That was the time I really started to believe it was our year that season, and I'm really starting to believe again now. Blue army.
TheMightySystem Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Thanks. Just realized CR said he's had a hamstring issue they've been managing for a while now. Hopefully he's okay to play a good chunk of Tuesday's game. If not, perhaps Simpson returns to to RB and Amartey provides cover for King from the bench Think CR said he wont risk him against West Brom but he will be back for Saturday
WesMorganGod Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 so happy to get the full 3 points, I was worrying so much it was gonna end 0-0. thats what title winners do, score very late goals to win the match 1-0
Corky Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Horrible game, they defended very well for the majority, we struggled to create many clear cut chances but we persevered and broke through. We won the game and can ask questions/ analyse it later. Vital win and a potentially huge winner from Ulloa. Relieved and also delighted.
Treacle Fox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Bollocks to all this 'Norwich deserved a point and were unlucky' talk. Leicester were in the the same boat 2 weeks ago in a more important game. You have to take the points when they're available regardless of how well deserved they were. These things all balance out over the season.
Clever Fox Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Great teams find a way to win games like today. To be fair Norwich put it up to us and really should have scored. I thought we looked a little match rusty but never gave in. The turning point was when Mahrez moved central in the pocket and nobody from Norwich picked him up. From then on we looked like creating chances and we eventually got the combination right for the goal. I thought Ameratey looked very good for a first game. Strong, Pacey and comfortable on the Ball. Will only get better and looks another very good signing. Okazaki was a real pest all game until subbed. Great also to see Schlupp back and being positive on the Ball. Onwards and upwards we go.
caeruleus Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 I think without a doubt that Norwich parked the bus today and played for a point. They made it hard for us to play the kind of football we are best at and were time wasting from 15 minute's into the first half. However although the fans were getting frustrated I think the players and manager kept their nerve by allowing Norwich into the game, and in doing this made them think they could actually win. As soon as we went three at the back Norwich pushed forward more leaving themselves exposed for our counter (something they would did not do in the first 60) Tactical master class IMO
BigMicky Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Sickens me when away teams go to matches and play for a point at most. Glad those fvckers went back to Norfolk with square root of fvck all. Despise that club and even more so after today. That's poor from you. We have in the past put 11 men behind the ball. We also like to be aggressive, the games gone soft. Also the tackle that Vardy put on Howson was equally as "nasty"
Thracian Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 Apparently we broke all sorts of records with today's performance - most points in the Premiership, home wins without defeat, something about our number of clean sheets too and the time since we've conceded a goal at home All those credits were somewhat shrouded in the relief of a cracking winner that delivered the relief of three precious points after a performance that was more Championship than Premiership and only emphasised that nothing's going to come easy in the title run-in, for all the premature talk of "matches we should win!" I was really pleased for Ulloa. He's so maligned yet such a danger when given the chance, some service and a bit of encouragement. And what a good goal it was despite despite an otherwise indifferent performance. Seven or eight incisive passes, a near posse of players striving to make the penalty box at pace and two central strikers straining to prey on Albrighton's point-perfect final ball. The 89 minutes' preamble might have been laboured, but the climax was typical Leicester quality, commitment and bloody-minded determination to keep winning whatever which-way. Yes, we spluttered, but there were big bonuses too...the return of Schlupp, another clean sheet, the quick return to winning ways and surely three of the most precious points we'll plunder this season. And what of the psychological blow we struck to the chasing pack? Another game gone, a wider gap at the top and an even harder task for anyone to stay in touch. When it comes to nerves I'd sooner have points than posssibles. Norwich can carp all they like about chances. But we took one, they missed and, just like in boxing, it only takes one blow to stop someone if it's the right blow. And "last minute" is just the right time because all our rivals suddenly found "cash-out" withdrawn just as they started counting the day's returns! Happy days!
