Leicester City v Norwich Post Match

kingy and drinky were comfortable as a partnership for our opening 3 or 4 games. no issues with them two in the middle. doubt west brom will be over running us or bombing past us. they'l probably have two centre backs as sitting midfielders and darren fletcher as their "attacking midfielder".

Somebody is going to have to explain to me the rationale behind Simpson getting a yellow card for a shirt tug on Giroud out on the touchline whilst the Norwich number 24 (Bennett) stayed on for wiping out Mahrez 20 yards out as he's about to shoot.

How is it that the first of these is seen as a nailed on yellow by "the letter of the law" (albeit harsh) by most neutrals and the other isn't?

Referee was unbelievably bad today - had no control over the game whatsoever.

Excellent win. Norwich were pretty solid as a team and for the majority we couldn't quite find our way through to create those goal scoring chances. However, we maintained our faith & belief and we never gave up, we then got the reward for our continued efforts with Ulloa tapping in the winner. Great ball across from Albrighton for the winner, and as usual I thought he worked his very best for the team again for the full 90 minutes, defensively and on attack, he's always helping the team. Hopefully Kante is ok, King did a decent job when he came on, consistently good.

Incredible celebrations when Ulloa netted the winner, again, Ranieri's substitutions proved to work well again. Onto Tuesday night now, looking forward to that game.

My initial thought was "Phew!, that was worrying.." but, having an hour or two to digest it all, I've taken several considerations into account that may have been blunted during the match. For one, Alex Neil made a point of saying that they were determined to come to us and "get something" in other words, it was set in stone that Norwich were going to play for a point, with the outside chance that they snatch it from a set piece. Why a team lingering wafer thin above the relegation zone could afford to do that is anyone's guess but that's just part of the territory of finding ourselves top of the league at this juncture - the struggling teams would rather claim the moral victory of a stalemate than actually giving themselves a fighting chance. Also, to be fair to Norwich, they scored 4 against Liverpool and were 2 nil up against West Ham so they were'nt coming off goal drought type form. Factor in that Simpson was missing due to suspension, it was Amartey's first game in England and the 2 week lay-off, there is much to take heart from and, ultimately WE GOT 3 POINTS!!! YES!!!

I also mentioned on a few threads, (after the defeat at Arsenal) that perhaps playing on the Saturday, before Spurs or Arsenal could be a positive and, at least for 24 hours, we've restored the 5 point gap and they both have to go out tomorrow knowing, regardless of whether they win, we'll still be top of the league for another week. Should they both lose or draw, we're pretty much back to where we were after the Man City win.

Massive.  Stole the three points really and I do empathise with them, today they were us last season for most parts, playing well but getting nothing.  A lot of people said we'd tear their defence apart but they defended very well as a team.  They'll be just about ok if they defend like that for the rest of the season but they really need more quality up front - Jerome just isn't good enough but Redmond shows a lot of promise.

We really need to come out against West Brom and look for an early goal because they will not miss chances from set pieces and if we go 1-0 down you're looking at a very very frustrating game.

They did remind me of us last season as well but more for the self-pitying and self-defeating attitude to the game.

If you play for a 0-0 knowing full well that your defence isn't up to much, as we did for a couple of spells last season, you can't complain when it eventually crumbles.

That said I thought they implemented their game plan very well for the most part - that's as good a defensive display as they could possibly have hoped for but they still came away with nothing.

3 points were no less than we deserved after Norwich fouled all game, ridiculously wasted time and just played long ball. If we'd have scored an early goal I think we would have won more comfortably because Norwich were poor.

We got what we needed. Not pretty. A bit nail biting, but George Graham and Sir Alex would have been delighted with that. Shows we keep going to the end. Do that in 8 or 9 of the next 11 and the unthinkable comes true.

Got away with one today, but it was a win of potential champions. Our lack of possession skills shown but we kept going. Take the 3 points and move on. Need to be better on Tuesday.

I'm not sure he is a natural right back but did a job. Claudio did the right thing and went for it at the end and it paid off. Great result for us

Another good point that I forgot to mention. They did foul a lot, even Huth was impinged. Def deserved the 3 points.

We were very poor really  but I felt just about shaded it in the second half and for the last 20 minutes we were the only side interested in winning.

The difference today was Ranieri. I doubted his appointment but am glad to say how wrong I've been.  Today he took a calculated gamble with the substitutions and in doing so kept our attacking momentum. The Norwich manager on the other hand showed his tactical naivety  by not trying to change things until a desperate last few minutes.

It was a game of very poor quality from both sides. Some of the play was lower Championship standard from both teams. If that is the way Norwich want to play I truly hope they get relegated. Time wasting from about 6 minutes in and cynical foul after cynical foul on Mahrez and Albrighton. Quite how more of their players didn't receive a yellow card is beyond me. The referee should have stamped it out straight away instead he allowed flair players to be kicked and hacked down pretty much non stop.

Drinkwater was way below his best and the loss of Kante to injury was a big blow.

Still at the end a satisfying result especially given the negative approach of the opponents.

We will need to be far better for the rest of the season.

Shows what a good side we are when we can be patient for 89mins and still find a winner.

Norwich were always going to set up the way they did right? We're not seen as "little Leicester" and near the top because of fluke anymore. We have gained respect so the teams in the bottom half are going to come to the KP, park the bus, do anything to stop us playing and hopefully nick one on the break to get a result. The fact that we struggled to create chances says more about us than Norwich though. We need to adapt and be able to break teams down when they sit back.

If you look at our home fixtures for the rest of the season then it's quite conceivable that every visiting team will try and play the way Norwich did. How we deal with that over the next few months is going to decide where we finish in the table. Claudio will know this and there is certainly some work to do on the training ground before West Brom come and do the same thing on Tuesday.

Norwich were awful, we struggled with their formation but in the end our quality saw us through, it was a bit of a nothing game in truth, scrappy affair but we still managed to create chances despite a stubborn approach from our visitors...I felt Amartey was alright today, clearly has ability but looked very nervous but didn't do a great deal wrong.

Norwich basically tried the Leicester gameplan and there's no denying they defended resolutely and restricted us to mainly half chances as we were forced to try a more expansively probing style of football than we're used to.  Unfortunately for them they couldn't hack the creating and subsequently burying gilt-edged chances 3 or 4 passes after getting out of their own box side to our normal game because they simply don't have players who are simultaneously quick enough and composed enough for it.  Saw enough in them though to believe they'll still be here next year though, there's no way they're as bad as Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle or even Palace who are making an unlikely push down towards the relegation zone.

Praying that ngolo doesnt have anything serious injury wise otherwise a brilliant day....it was the win of champions...we weren't at our best and didnt capitilize on the possession in the middle of the park but to keep going and get the late goal feels the complete reverse of the feeling after welbeck stole the 3 points last week. Norwichs time wasting and defensive set up is something we might have to get used to in the remaining home fixtures, except newcastle, they have no tactical nouse. Hats off to claudio too for his changes to the system and bringing on leo towards the end...top of the league!!!!

Well I did not see that goal coming!!!

Lots to learn from today but also lots to be pleased with:

We actually beat a side who parked the bus - possibly for the first time this season.

CR and his staff changed the system and made some excellent changes to bring the game to Norwich. That the players took to it so quickly was fantastic (even if it was similar to end of last season).

Both great news given some of our remaining fixtures.

Another clean sheet and a debut defender in the mix too.
