weller54 Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 It's really looking like it's us v Spuds for the PL title. Their remaining fixtures and possible results : Bournemouth H.. 2-2 Liverpool A.. 1-0 defeat Manure H.. 2-0 win Stoke A..1-1 West Brom H..2-0 win Chelsea A..2-0 defeat Southampton H.. 2-1 win Newcastle A..1-1 Total points 70.
RobHawk Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 I think that points total is a little pessimistic as Spurs have consistently picked up points, but I do think they will they will drop points, but i think they will be around the 74/75 mark. If we beat Palace and bournemouth do us a favour (i dont think they will) then a 7 point gap will probably be too much realistically.

Agree that Spurs will get more than 70 pointsLeicester 77 Spurs 73 Arsenal 68
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 If we do this mathematically (ie. form continues for all teams) the end table will look like this:* Leicester 80 Spurs 73 Arsenal 68 Man City 67 *points rounded to nearest integer.
whetstonefox Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 I think Spurs will get 18 points if Newcastle are safe by the final day, but only 16 if Newcastle need something. Minimum for Spurs 74 , max 76 for me. I've assumed draws vs Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea win all the rest , unless the Geordies need anything. Think 5 wins will do it for us.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Looking at Spurs games I see them probably getting this: Bournemouth H WINLiverpool A LOSEManure H WINStoke A DRAWWest Brom H WINChelsea A LOSESouthampton H WINNewcastle A DRAW So I think 14 more points for them, putting them on 72. 4 more wins for us should just about do it.

Bournemouth are in great form and I can see them getting something from the game.. Spurs haven't been good of late and another defeat against Dortmund on Thursday will hopefully dent their confidence even further.
RobHawk Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Wouldn't that be an 8 point gap? Agree that Spurs will get more than 70 points Leicester 77 Spurs 73 Arsenal 68 I was basing it on Bounemouth drawing with Spurs as detailed in the OP. But 7 or 8 points makes little difference in my eyes! That's 2 defeats either or 3 draws either way, without goal difference being a factor. I think we will have enough in the bag to easily get over the line with games to spare. But that still means we need to beat palace - and we need Bournmouth to do the business at WHL. I don't think things will be that easily personally!
Thracian Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 I just don't get this at all. Even predicting results for one week at this stage of the season is perilous, let alone eight matches. There are so many different factors involved. And even the most attacking challengers can be caught not knowing whether to stick or twist if they go in front, leaving them forever vulnerable to an equaliser and perhaps even worse if they have a nervy finish. Ranieri's spot on. Just concentrate on our own performance and our next match. If we keep performing properly - and fighting for the next points towards our target rather than worrying about titles or European slots - the chasers might just run out of time. It can happen so quickly. Who'd believe Arsenal would slip 11 points off the pace so quickly? Or Manchester City? People talk about us being nervous but the real pressure is on those trying to make up the deficit, where any error might well mean "challenge over". Being five points in front, our only thoughts should be on making it more while chalking the next game off.

johnny the fox Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 got to assume the spuds win every game... foolish to predict anything else.
Floridafox Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 A week ago Spurs away at Newcastle, last game of season, was easy 3 points for them. Thankfully with Benitez appointment that's not the case any more
Buce Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Simple fact is it's in our hands - the Cocks need us to slip, while they need to keep winning. All the pressure is on them.
Harry - LCFC Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Think you're being extremely harsh on Tottenham with those predictions. I'd be surprised if they dropped points in more than three games. I'd hazard a guess that 77 will be enough at this stage.
ithuriel Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Spuds are going to find things just as difficult as us, not every game is going to be won. Still think 5 more wins will do it, if we can get them .
Foxymcoxy Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 20 points and we've won it. Chances are 17 or 18 at most will do it, and that's with a very good spurs run at the end of the season. 17 also guarantees finishing above Arsenal and 16 guarantees finishing above City. So I reckon, one game at a time and all that but 17 would be a good target for the final 8 games. Very difficult but not impossible at all. Of course chances are none of us finish as strong as these scenarios.

I agree! It would mean Spurs would need to win at least 6 and either draw 2 or win a 7th to overtake us. I think they will drop more than 4 points personally!

bluebeau Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 According to Sky, Sir Alex has said that City will finish top with points to spare! He's the expert so hope he's correct!

Detroit Blues Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 According to Sky, Sir Alex has said that City will finish top with points to spare! He's the expert so hope he's correct! It's certainly possible. We would need to win the next 5 matches, and Spurs would have to pick up 10 points or fewer. Something like:3 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. With Tottenham's remaining schedule I could see them dropping plenty of points along the way, so it's really up to us to keep up the winning pace and ice this title race before we hit the tougher part of our schedule (@ United, Everton, @ Chelsea). It would be incredible to go into Old Trafford with the premier league title already clinched.
WesMorganGod Posted 15 March 2016 Posted 15 March 2016 Spurs next match is very hard, Bournemouth are difficult, they are the best team we have played this season, both matches.. away and at home against them was a huge struggle, they completely dominated us at their ground and I still don't know how we got 1-1, and the home game they played with 10 men and were still better than us. they impressed me so much. could see them getting a result against Tottenham.
