Littletoe Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 I have a feeling that Manchester United and West Ham will beat both Spurs and Arsenal.
Babylon Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 I just don't agree Babs... I think we have just as much chance of beating West Ham at home as we do beating Sunderland away. Based on what? Whilst it's possible it might happen that way round, surely you're only saying that on a hunch or a gut feeling? Because West Ham have only lost 6 games all season. To put that into perspective, that's less than Arsenal, Man City, United. Sunderland though sit in the relegation zone having lost 16 games this season. Literally any stat you can pull out the bag will indicate Sunderland should be seen as being easier than West Ham. I know it doesn't work that way, but that's how it will be viewed by everyone else.
Littletoe Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Cattermole last minute winner and secure Januarys speculation of a 20 million pound move to the king power for next season.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 yep, a disgusting result but a while back now. not winning at sunderland at this stage of the season is criminal, however our 7 point lead cushions that (think i may have pointed that out in my original post) We need to win really, cushion or not. Do not want to go in to the game against West Ham with Spurs and Arsenal having a chance to get us in their sights as if they do that's when the pressure really will kick in, and I think if they'll catch us it's time to call off the party, as we wont retake the lead. Where as we win and North London both drop points which is plausible we are about there. Don't win this it'll be the game that cost us the league. Not to say it is "easy" Col, but it's certainly "easier" than a lot of the tests ahead.

Gerard Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 As I've said, I'm not even thinking about the other games. Taking one game at a time, I reiterate, a draw against a side fighting for their lives would be a satisfactory result IMO. We won't agree Gerard, so I'll sign off. You see this as an 'easy game'. I don't. For all the reasons I've given which I wont bang on about. I hope you're right and that it will be a comfy win. I don't see it as an easy game at all. What looked easy games two months a go now seem very difficult. We need three wins to improve our chances of winning the league and the two difficult ones will be Man Utd and Chelsea away. That leaves four games for me that are MUST WIN. If we're happy to take a point and call it a good result in any of these four matches then we are forced to win the other three. A draw against Sunderland gives us no leeway to slip up against the other three sides at home. If we draw then I'll accept it and we're still very much in it but I can't accept anything other than a win in those four games. I doubt we'll win all four but we have four very winnable games and accepting a draw as a good result is far too passive. Faint heart never won fair lady.
foxfanazer Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 What constitutes a 'must win' game? Its a massively over-used term. We need to keep playing how we are playing, keep confident (and not lose games..I think that's essential, not only for points but psychologically) and see how it goes. Other team's performances will also impact on the final outcome. IF we win all the remainder then we win the league. But that's not a given is it. Yeah we need to keep playing like we have been, winning games. I don't get your logic on this one mate, sorry
Gerard Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 This weekend will say a lot about where the challenge will come from now. This will be Arsenal's biggest Challenge as to whether they will manage a late run or not. Spurs not beating United could nail their coffin shut. An Arsenal win will be horrific for us this weekend especially if we fail to beat Sunderland. Their remaining games will be: Home Crystal Palace West Brom Norwich Aston Villa Away Sunderland Man City Apart from Man City away they've got a great chance of winning all those matches. There would be a good chance of us watching the Man City vs Arsenal match behind the sofa in the foetal position.

I know there is a thread around here somewhere.

Urgh, everyone says the teams near the bottom are scrapping for their lives so they are possibly the hardest games. Why is arsenals run in suddenly so easy??????????

Manwell Pablo Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Urgh, everyone says the teams near the bottom are scrapping for their lives so they are possibly the hardest games. Why is arsenals run in suddenly so easy?????????? Well three of their games are signicantly easier than bottom three teams (I purposely exclude Villa), i.e Palace last won a game in 1996, Villa are dead, and Baggies run of the mill nothing to play for at home. I agree with you though we (and they) should be looking to bear Sunderland. Much easier than Chelsea United or West Ham.
AyewJoking Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 we could lose to a sunderland team who are fighting for their lives but arsenal wont? crystal palace and norwich will turn up at the emirates and roll over? Oh yeah, we've beaten them both recently! theres the people getting carried away and the people being super negative. nice to see success hasnt changed us!
MGLCFC Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 It's a game we should feel quietly confident about, but the positions of the teams is not that relevant IMO. I wonder if teams playing Leicester at this time last year considered it an easy 3 points? It's a potential banana skin and I'm not taking anything for granted. If we play to our potential and Sunderland don't get all the rub of the green, we should win. I do think a win, will almost get us over the line. Teams playing catch up would be under so much pressure to keep winning.
ARM1968 Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 I've got the feeling Arsenal and Spurs will continue to bottle it. Think both will drop points this weekend.
Culletonfox Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 hope the players aren't takink this as an 'easy' game. there are no easy games at this stage - well maybe villa.... but seriously.... players and fans should just stick to trying to win our game. Sunderland have beat man utd this season, so there is no point hoping our game is easier than them. in fact, i think it's better for players to go in the game with a mentality that this is the final and facing an opponent that will give it their all to win. We don't need to worry about the others.... if we win, lose or draw they (arse/spurts) will have pressue on them to win. We just need to carry on trying to get the 3 points however we can. being intelligent, knowing Sunderland are not going to be easy. They will be fighting like we were last season, but we should be even more determined having confidence in the knowledge we are on a winning streak and we can win games as long as we score one goal. the first half will see us attacking more unless we score early again. If they score first, I can see them playing deep and hoping to counter. Either way, I think both teams will be going for the win and not settling for a draw, so expect a tense finish. Getting past Palace away and Southampton at home i believe proves the players know how to win tough games both home and away! this season especially I'm starting to not think pestimistically about games coming up! they way the team are defending as a unit is the best way to play in these run in games.
Nalis Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Arsenal will probably beat West Ham, bang on about their character and then follow it up with draws against Crystal Palace and West Brom.
Ozwin Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 I think we send out a huge message this weekend. Big win.
Sionnach gorm Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Sunderland won't be easy, I don't think. I'm sure many, last year, thought Leicester City would be easy, but they were not. Any team in relegation zone will play with crazy abandon. I must say, I believe it will be a win, but a tie at worst. As for the other teams catching us, I don't even worry about it. The Prem is in Leicester's hands and we should only be concerned about performing. I've stopped looking back at the others.

We are 2.24 on BF at present to beat Sunderland. I can't see us being much bigger than that at home to West Ham so tbf there's not a lot of difference to which is the most likeliest game to win. Oh for us to win both.
