dylanlegend Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 He did though, warned Huth and Morgan earlier Fact is, the WHU players knew the ref talked to Morgan / Huth, they were clever in the fact any contact from either meant they would fall down like a shack of sh*t and that's exactly what they did. Ref shouldn't have given a warning, it was an unfair advantage to the West Ham players
dylanlegend Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Reading this, I think you can only conclude he has to be booked. http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/refereeing/law_12_fouls_misconduct_en_47379.pdf (Do ctrl-F and type "simulation") The actual tangling of legs doesn't seem to be mentioned specifically but by engineering a tangling of legs and then claiming a penalty which wasn't due, you can only conclude Vardy should be cautioned. Apart from the fact it looks like a 5 year old put together that PowerPoint, isn't the premier league governed by UEFA rules?
fuchsntf Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 You can't "warn" someone that you're going to give a penalty. It's either a foul deserving of a penalty, or isn't. If he'd thought the others were penalties, then he should have given them. It's not something you can decide arbitrarily. Yes he can!! Not directly but he warned them of their holding and tugging, obviously if its in the penalty area, any offence would be a penalty. It was dumb, poor positioning, and a penalty.. Why fans cry, when their team has been guilty of continual pushing and pulling, I will never understand. Saying that.. # both refs , all fans, managers and players alike should read up on the laws and rules. #Ref.Authorities should see the refs enforce these rules. even if it means giving 6-10 penalties a game. The farce is being caused by the players. All fans, well they are just bias.
sdb Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Looks like a pen to me. Gets himself in between defender and ball. Once there, it's get a shot away or you're impeded. Looks like the latter to me and did at the time. To send him off is certainly bold.
Bryn Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Apart from the fact it looks like a 5 year old put together that PowerPoint, isn't the premier league governed by UEFA rules? UEFA rules are surely derived from the FIFA code for the game?
Vestan Pance Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 My first thought was that Vardy was grabbed and then dived to make sure, but after watching it several more times you will see Vardy tread on the defenders foot as he goes on front of him, it looks to me like that's what causes him to fall.
dylanlegend Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 UEFA rules are surely derived from the FIFA code for the game? I don't know, I just know Jon Moss is a ****
dylanlegend Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 My first thought was that Vardy was grabbed and then dived to make sure, but after watching it several more times you will see Vardy tread on the defenders foot as he goes on front of him, it looks to me like that's what causes him to fall. He always does it, it's part of his game, ok it backfired today but the amount of pens he's won us in the past means he shouldn't change anything. Unfortunately made it look too obvious today
Livid Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 I'll just about give him the benefit of the doubt on Vardy but his overall performance was awful. It's just the inconsistency in individual performances and week to week. Reid deliberately blocked off Schlupp and there was no second yellow. Payet flung himself to the floor to try and win a free kick, again nothing, that's a dive or free kick. Our penalty at the end looked harsh but I swear it had eventually dawned on him he was going to be the one in all the headlines and was desperate to even it up. The sooner he sods off back to the Northern Premier League the better. If I see that twat Atkinson getting the Swansea game I'm lumping everything I've got on Spurs.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Not a dive. It wasn't a penalty, but he didn't dive. He's pulled by the shoulder by the West Ham player, before Vardy ensures that there's contact. Should have just been a goal kick. Rubbish! You need glasses, as it was just so blatant.
FrankieADZ Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 I can see where the point of where people might say it was a dive and that but there was more than enough contact on Vards to go down, if he was going to give a dive just pull him up and have a word but common sense doesnt come nature to all refs i suppose
casablancas Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 There's conttact therefore he went down, the contact may have been vardy being clever but contact in the area is a penalty. The downfall was the theatrics a very harsh yellow. With regards to there pen that had been coming. The ref was itching for it and could see it was gonna come in that form from previous set pieces. Red was shite but we were not at our finest.
Len Finsbury Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Just because a defender makes contact with a striker, it shouldn't automatically make it a penalty. It should only be a penalty if the contact is enough to impede a FULLY GROWN PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE! Players go down in the penalty area at the slightest touch now. I'd like refs to book more players for 'making more' of the slightest of contact. If it had happened 40 yards up the field, Vardy wouldn't have attempted to force the foul. Vardy looks for those penalties whenever he can. He's actually very good ad throwing his trailing leg into the legs of the defender resulting in him being brought down. This time though, I think his leg got caught up TOO much and made his dive look even more theatrical. When it happened, I said he'd not made that look convincing and that was on first watch, which is all the referees get. He almost cost us the game today. He has to take it on the chin, enjoy his rest and come back raring to go for the last few games.
jmono84 Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Getting your body in front on a def getting tripped from behind and 'kick/tripping' over a defenders leg After they have made a sliding tackle in front are competent different things... Vards has no idea if or when he gets taken out from behind but it's very clear his legs get completely tangled and took him out... My take on that Fifa rule and why in this case it's not relevant
dylanlegend Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 It would have been a soft first yellow but a second yellow it's appalling? When was the last time a player was given a SECOND yellow for diving?
oohaahmustafa Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Cmon lads, it was clearly a dive. At least he'l be nicley rested for united.
MurphyMagic Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 no penalty, no yellow card, get on with the game ref and let us win the game. Utter shambles from the referee.
blaser Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 It's neither a penalty or a dive. I think Vardy barges into the defender to slow himself down. Now I don't mind if the ref turns around and says foul by Vardy, but it's no carding offence. Ref was poor from the get go, we all felt so in the kop. Ruined what should have been decent game.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Jon Moss was born in Sunderland and lives in Halifax so it's hard to class either as North London reallyMy apologies, miss information.Still a cvnt though.
Karljohn Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 God help United when Vards is back out of the traps!
Reg Vardy Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 Personally I would have taken a point at the start, excellent set of players under Bilic a great manager. Regardless of whether it was wasn't a dive, Vardy getting a week off will do us and him no harm at all. Ulloa was outstanding when he came on. He will give it everything next week, we are capable ( utmost respect) of beating Swansea, without Vardy. Imagine how pumped up Jamie will be at Old Trafford the week after......that is the pivotal game in this title race...... Onwards upwards.....real spirit......good point.
GlennyFox55 Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 He had a pop at someone in the tunnel after the game. Shame they muted the video.
Raj Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 If Vards was an opposing player we'd be baying for the same outcome. Did look "divish" but to send him off for it the ref atleast had balls!!! We always say take diving out the game!!! Before theWham pen there was a massive mellee in the box and loads of pushing n pulling so again he was guttsy to give it. I couldn't even see what the pen was for. But at the end of the day,he gave us a pen which looked light too so !!!
Guest ttfn Posted 17 April 2016 Posted 17 April 2016 To book Vardy for that and not book Payet for a totally comical dive 20 minutes later was outrageous.
