Ric Flair Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Anyone tempted to go 3-4-1-2 and sacrifice Simpson for a game? I know it's harsh but we could then get Mahrez behind Okazaki and Ulloa and Schlupp out left and Albrighton on the right. Move Fuchs alongside Wes and Huth like he plays for Austria and bull hammer it. Bring Gray, Amartey and Simpson on in the 2nd half when we're 3-0 up.
Fatbloke Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 3 days to go, the excitement is building Come on Leicester Up the Foxes 3 days 7 hours 43 minutes and 50 seconds but who`s counting :-)
Foxhateram Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Same formation. Mahrez to push on up top with Okazaki and Gray to take his place in midfield. Continuity is key here. Mahrez has pace and can make clever runs. No reason why he can't play a similar game to Vardy. Minus the closing down maybe. But shinji can do that bit. Thinking about it. Maybe it's shinji that becomes vardy for a day and Mahrez plays shinji's role. One of this combinations. I fear that we will play hoof ball with Ulloa as our main striker. It's just a natural sub conscience thing to try and pick out the big man. I don't think that playing like that will work against a pacy and strong (as in strength) Swansea side though.
Webbo Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I reckon we should play Schlupp with him and Mahrez inter changing as deemed necessary.
Alf Bentley Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Claudio's comments suggest that Ulloa will start: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leicester-City-NEWS-Leo-Ulloa-Jamie-Vardy-s-boots/story-29137123-detail/story.html "Leo is a grand man, a fantastic man, and after a good striker and good player," said Ranieri. "Ulloa, I think, will replace him (Vardy), and I'm sure we will play at the same level, with the same strength, the same will. "We now have to change and those behind will now be in front because they deserve to have a chance. I am sure they will do very well." He might be playing mind games, but he's generally been straight with such statements, I think. He probably feels Leo is in good form and that he'll justify the confidence placed in him. My concern would be about our Plan B if Ulloa and Okazaki both start, and we're not ahead by 60-70 minutes. I don't recall either of them playing 90 minutes effectively for a long time - and Mahrez has been subbed a lot recently, too. I wonder if he might bring Schlupp in on the left for extra pace, switch Albrighton to the right for crosses (and better defensive cover against Montero) and Mahrez to the centre as second striker/central attacking midfielder. He could then bring Shinji fresh off the bench for the last 20-30 mins.

johnny the fox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 He will just swap Leo for Vardy..but I wouldn't mind Jeff taking the Vardy role for this one..

Can see us playing like that if we havnt scored and desperately need to with 10 minutes to go. Too risky to start like that especially when the defensive unit and setup have been so successful in recent games.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I love Shinji's endeavour and energy but I don't think he will be a good option without someone like Vardy next to him. He gets knocked off the ball very easily, loses possession a lot and and even though his legs move quickly he seems never to be able to run faster than whoever his opponent is. He is also mostly useless in the air due to his height and lack of strength and we have arguably 3 of the strongest crossers in the league in Albrighton, Mahrez, and Fuchs. No doubting the odd moment of Okazaki brilliance but I'd rather give someone else a start.
Crowfeathers Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 What price Ashley Williams getting an early whack in on Mahrez?

No. We have lost one player, this isn't the time to panic and start playing strange formations. I've no problem playing that formation if we need a goal at the 60 min plus stage but we shouldn't be panicking about winning the match from the first minute.
Gerard Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 A MUST WIN match though, we have to get a win somehow. Win this and Tottenham W3 D1 and we're only a win away.
NotQuiteAFox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Schmeichel Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Albrighton Kante Drinkwater Schlupp (yes he can be a headless chicken at times, but his pace is an asset. I'd keep Gray on the bench) Mahrez Ulloa Shinji as a sub should we need to throw the kitchen sink. If points are dropped and Spurs gain ground, then its going to be tricky.
st albans fox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Will prob do the obvious thing and hope to get ahead We need a clean sheet and a scruffy winner! If it's not working then switch to plan B We

Captain... Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Would Spurs swap positions with us? Of course they would, that tells you all you need to know! Does that include Kane facing a suspension?
Dan Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 I've never been so scared for a game in my life. I usually look forward to every game but this weekend, I just get a "gulp" feeling every time I think about it. Absolutely enormous game. One of the biggest of our history.
Stevosevic Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Anything but a win and we could really have blown it. Let's not pretend otherwise.
Captain... Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 If we start with Ulloa I don't see him as the second striker, not enough pace or guile so I would play him up top, if he is up top I would like to see Albrighton on the right to whip good early crosses in on his stronger foot, this would then mean either Mahrez on the left, which could leave Fuchs exposed, or Mahrez in the middle behind Ulloa. Then we can have Schlupp on the left. With Ulloa on the pitch we will lose so much movement and pace that Okazaki's clever runs will not have Vardy's pace to take advantage of the space, but we will also lose Okazaki's energy off the ball, which Mahrez won't replicate, but if we have Okazaki and Ulloa, I can see Okazaki running around with out the same support from Ulloa, or Ulloa trying to close down from the front and run himself into the ground. Maybe we would be better off not pressing from the front. It would be a completely different style of play to what we are used to. No long balls to spring the defence with Vardy's pace, no pressing from the front. get the ball wide, get the ball in quickly to Ulloa and allow Mahrez to pick up on anything around the box for a few pot shots. If it is not working or Williams is dominating Ulloa in the air, switch back to the usual formation with Schlupp in the Vardy role and Ulloa doing his usual thing when he comes on for Okazaki. So Kante Drinkwater Albrighton--------------Schlupp Mahrez Ulloa or Kante Drinkwater Mahrez--------------Albrighton Ulloa Schlupp
Dan Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Anything but a win and we could really have blown it. Let's not pretend otherwise. That's exactly my feeling. Combine this with a weekend where it all seemed to go against us, I'm naturally twitchy, regardless of how well we do we've seen that sometimes it's out of our own control.
st albans fox Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 ... will rock you. not sure what happened there but in a few weeks 'are the champions'!
filbertway Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 Can't wait for this, what a chance to make it at least 5 points clear with 3 games to go. Full faith in the lads to go out there and give Swansea a horrible afternoon. 3 games to go, not 5 ha!
Gerard Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 That's exactly my feeling. Combine this with a weekend where it all seemed to go against us, I'm naturally twitchy, regardless of how well we do we've seen that sometimes it's out of our own control. Failure to beat Swansea and the balance of power has well and truly been shifted. It's not helped that Tottenham have played two of the better sides in the division in Man Utd & Stoke and thrashed them 3-0 & 4-0 in the last two games. You just feel they're a juggernaut at the moment and any slip up by us and they will steamroll us. Going into our last three games against tough opposition and only 2/3pts ahead and it feels like we're sitting ducks. We have to win and keep the gap to a minimum of 5pts with three to play and they will start to feel the pressure that they have to win to just have a chance.
Larry_LCFC Posted 21 April 2016 Posted 21 April 2016 There is a danger starting Ulloa that we will just play hoofball from minute one.
