Vardy & LCFC Charged by the FA - Charges Accepted & Personal Hearing Requested

I don't know whether this has been asked, but is there any facility for imposing a ban but having it suspended for, say, six months?

That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't know either I'm afraid...

But surely, given the timing of events and how well we were doing before that - in which we were keeping the run-in in our own hands - you'd think there'd be grounds to let Vardy back after the routine one match ban, on the understanding that he misses the first game (or two) of the new season. I don't see how Spurs could complain because, let's face it, another Ref would probably never have booked him in the first place for the supposed "foul" on Kouyate. The only reason they would be angry is because they like the idea of Leicester being handicapped, despite it being an unsporting way to attempt to take 1st place. Then, only to see that handicap reduced to one game will suddenly seem like an injustice to them. But if truth be told, they would never have thought about it had Vardy not been sent off in the first place.

When will we know, either way?

Not sure exactly. But watched the press conference with Claudio earlier today on SSN and the presenter introduced the segment with the words "Vardy will miss one game after accepting the charge by the FA". Not sure if she meant one game after the red card suspension, or simply one game total. Obviously, hope it is the latter.

i think the hearing is on Thursday, his only hope is if Roy is calles as a witness (as he was there) or Vards threatens to quit Internationalfootball, i think we should except the fact he will miss 2 games and get on with it (we have proved we can do ok without him)

..when was that?

I'm feeling a little thick, help me out... Is the symbolism of that envelope a possible explanation for the way Moss behaved during our match vs West Ham, or something else?

I'm not sure if it's a case of apologising by the FA.

However the idea that a player should have to turn up, besuited (like some ne're-do-well at a magistrates' court) and explain his actions and beg pardon is both patronising and condescending. These men act as if they have some yokel in front of them who needs teaching a lesson - not a professional who has been the subject of three erroneous decisions (although one was automatic) and reacted to it in a wholly human way. I'd have preferred it had Vardy expressed himself without expletives but I suspect I would have reacted with outrage too. The fvcking and blinding at refs. decisions goes on all the time - the only difference was that Vardy didn't mumble it while walking away.

There's no case to answer - the video footage exonerates him completely. What we're seeing here is a player being forced to toe the line - for no other reason than breaking someone else's idea of what language is acceptable or not. At least in a court of law a defendant is given the chance, with representation, to argue that he has been the subject of false arrest or a fit-up, and then be tried by an independent jury. In football it seems that democracy, equality and fairness, in this case, takes a back seat to unimpartial prejudice. The kind that says whatever the ref, decides is, by definition incontrivertibly right - all we're here to do is decide the level of the punishment.

Or we could also be seeing an attempt to enact the latest mainstream narrative doing the rounds that "Spurs last won the top flight title back in '61 and are long overdue their third, so c'mon lowly Leicester, know your place and roll over so the London boys can have all the glory...And if you don't, we'll look for the slightest thing to thwart you.. "??

I just wonder had it been Arsenal 7 points clear at the top and Sanchez did the exact same as Vardy, would he too receive a red card ban and further punishment?? I really wonder...

A player showing decent on the World-wide TV stage has to be investigated by the FA.  If video evidence is offered by the Club, it will clearly show there was a hand on Vardy's back and further contact between the players legs.  That being the case the FA should admit Fat boy Moss got it wrong, but that Vardy was guilty of decent (Foul and abusive language towards an official).

Now I know you cannot appeal in situations of two yellows = red (which is a nonsense in itself) but the fair and common sense outcome should then that the red card for the alleged dive is effectively cancelled but re-instated for the act of decent.  1 match ban and a fine would seem the logical outcome with Moss removed from the PL panel on the grounds of inconsistent application of the laws of the game in the same match.

Can I just state that my spell checker keeps altering "plea" to please.  I'm not utterly mental.

Mine does the same, when I type danny mills it changes it to w@nk€r...............

I expect him to be banned for the Man U game.......

But I am holding out for some realism from the FA given the circumstances....

Dissent is a caution.

Foul and abusive is a sending off.

Technically Vardy could be in line for 1 match ban for 2 yellows and a 3 match ban for foul and abusive.  Season over.

Which is why Hodgson has come out and said what he has - with the full agreement of the FA.  He isnt going to say anything that hasn't been carefully scripted.

I fully expect 1 match for 2 yellows and 1 match for the reaction.  There is a small chance that he gets away with reaction.  But that sets a dangerous precedent.

I fully believe that Moss was out to get Vardy since the Everton Match where he felt Vardy conned him. The first card should never have been given as it wasn't a foul. Therefore he never should have been sent off as it A he was pulled back and b it was a first offence.

When are the authorities going to do the right thing and correct mistakes as they do in Rugby. Instead of handing out suspensions to players while protecting poor Referees.  It's time the game moved into the 21st Century.

We should know on Monday evening.....

Don't believe Video evidence is allowed though....

Didn't Costa use video evidence? I think someone posted a link in this thread to an official summary of the proceedings that included video evidence.

What's that picture supposed to prove?

I agree there was contact and Ogbonna tried to pull Vardy back by his shoulder just before the incident, but let's be fair and admit that Vardy got himself tangled up with his legs and was looking for the penalty.

A decent referee would've made a fair call and let it play on, maybe giving Vardy a reprimand.

I suppose Hodgson got involved because he wants a (more) match-fit Vardy at EURO 2016.

Thracian made a good point about Moss effectively labelling JV a cheat.

There are players in PL who are not averse to simulation but is JV seriously one?

He may be a 'rough diamond' but he appears to be hardworking, straightforward and honest.

Maybe that's why he was so upset,Moss effectively called him a cheat.
