Nampalys Mendy

No he's not unproven at this level. He was an integral part of the side that pulled off the great escape . Until his injury he was first on the team sheet alongside Drinkwater. Goodness me short memories , it was only a season ago and it was in the Premiership .

Drinky barely played in the run in for us.

Just checked and he started two games from the West Ham game until the end of the season. Short memories, indeed.

James was on the verge of an England call up, Roy was there watching him when he got his injury versus Southampton. So I'd say he is capable at this level yes

James is quality and needs his fitness, match sharpness and confidence back. A loan out under the wing of the Ostrich farmer would probably be best all round tbf.

Had Mendy signed yet? Getting confused here reading James things on this thread.

Need to get this done! Whilst we should not pay over the odds his stats are great, young and CR knows him well. He is not the most expensive target but his price could increase IF we were to lose Kante.

Think this is Mendy's agent's doing to get Lyon to substantiate their interest. As long as Kanté is with us, I don't see us going for another defensive-minded midfielder with Amartey in the squad.

He was there for Clyne, Bertrand and Vardy.

tbf we don't even know that much about Amartey. Claudio could see him as back up to DD, he certainly has the pace to get up & down the pitch like DD. So Amartey might not be the back up for Kante, hence our bid for Mendy?

Amartey for me hasn't impressed at all from the little I've seen of him. He has looked a bit overawed at this level so far. I'm not slating him because we haven't seen much and he's still very young but I wonder if CR feels the same?

If we get Mendy our CM options are:

Kante

Drinkwater

Mendy

King

James

Inler

Amartey

We'd be clearly top heavy in that department and need to get rid of at least two of them.

Posted

it appears topheavy in that department but we have to have provision to accomodate a 3 man centralmidfield, and the possibility of losing maybe James, Inler and Kante

Oh Mendy you came and you gave without taking... And we need you today... Oh Mendy!

Time this was sorted, I'm having withdrawals

Sig him up just for the song. Love it! :)

Great effort, it's just edged, Musa been love, into second place of songs for players we won't sign!

Shame.

I think you'll find that this is one of the deal breakers. 100 pages of transfer thread guff and a number of prospective songs in the pipeline, and obviously a wedge, and they'll sign on the dotted line. I'm trying to do my bit.

I see from another thread that a reliable source has said Kante has told the club he wants to leave. This makes this signing even more important if not vital !

We don't, no, but the staff likely will. He's a versatile player, but I doubt he's brought in to be a makeshift right-back. His main position is in the defensive midfield position, with experience as a centreback too.

I really don't think that unless you see a player signing on the dotted line that a reliable source is worth a bag of shite

Yehh definately. What I'm wondering is if he could potentially be a box to box CM to compete with DD's spot?

Get this guy signed up ASAP. If we can afford 20m for Deeney we can pay an extra 2m for Mendy

Absolutely agree 100%
