49er Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Imagine that money is not issue, which two players would you consider signing from the so-called 'big teams' (Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs) to strengthen our squad. Not suggesting that we 'sign' any or all of them, just want to see who our fans rate. Here's my list: Man City - Aguero, De Bruyne Man Utd - Martial, Smalling Chelsea - Hazard, Willian Arsenal - Koscielny, Sanchez Spurs - Kane, Alli
Swarles Barkley Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Alderweireld ahead of alli, ozil ahead of koscielny and de gea ahead of smalling for me
possiblygeorge Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Not a big team, but i've heard both Deeney & Bolasie are both a strong possiblity.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 To be honest I agree with all of your selections.
Danizen Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 I would take De Gea from Man U. Not to replace Kasper but because it would absolutely ruin them!
Larry_LCFC Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 So many massive egos in that list that could actually do more harm than good. We are so good because nobody is above their station.
possiblygeorge Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Only one i'd take is Aguero. Even then i wouldn't take him. They can all f**k off.
cc_star Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Players that would actually strengthen our team and have the mentality to fit in? Alexi Sanchez & Aguerooooooo
Mark_w Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 From the little I know of them the following seem likeable enough, good and might fit into our team...Tottenham: LlorisMan City: Kompany, AgueroChelsea: AzpilicuetaI love our approach of signing people nobody has ever heard of and winning the league comfortably with them though.
sylofox Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 When you say big name teams do you mean teams that will finish a minimum of 7points and upto 35pts behind us. We are the big name team this season. Also the prem has had greater worldwide publicity this season than ever before. Why? Because of Leicester city. Not manure man c arsenil Chelsea or spuds.
Illusion35 Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Eden Hazard and his younger brother as well?! That would make a nice 'band of brothers' story plus we know Eden already likes us Oh and we can offer champions league football and Chelsea can't. Just saying that sounds insane haha!
filbertway Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 If I was trying to improve our squad in areas we are lacking cover or could be imoroved then I would probably go for something like this. Man U De Gea and Martial Man City De Bruyne Managala (under ranieri i think he could be collosal) Arsenal Sanchez Bellerin Spurs Alli Ericksen
dylanlegend Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Why would we want 2nd rate players? Anyway I'd sign these for our u21s: Spurs: Kane, Alli Arsenal: Sanchez, Cech Man City: Aguero, De Bruyne Man United: De Gea, Martial Chelsea: Hazard, Pedro Liverpool: Coutinho, Sturridge
lifted*fox Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 I'd rather hold onto our entire squad this Summer than sign any of the 'big names' mentioned in this thread. Teamwork and harmony over individuals and egos any day of the week.
StanSP Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 So many massive egos in that list that could actually do more harm than good. We are so good because nobody is above their station. a million times this. I've long said (along with others no doubt) that we have a team. Players willing to give their all for their team-mates and this brings out the best in each other. Team spirit is vastly under-rated across the football world. Other clubs have individuals playing with other individuals. Or at least that's how it seems. It was refreshing to hear Ranieri say he only wants players here who will match the spirit and attitude of the current crop of players. If they're not happy he doesn't want them here. That's how it should be.
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Listening to ranieri and the blueprint as shakey and Walsh called it... We are only looking for a certain type of hardworking player who fits into our team in terms of spirit and ego. Even if money wasn't a problem, Alexis Sanchez and to a lesser extent aguero don't fit into that. Alexis Sanchez throws his toys out when substituted .... Didn't see okazaki doing that. Tbh I would take troy deeney way ahead of Alexis Sanchez. I like the spirit we have in this team, I wouldn't want to see us become a souless team of mercenaries lime man city... No pride for the team, fans or manager.
Xen Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Aguero, Fabregas and Mata are the only ones I feel might fit into our team spirit.
Thracian Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Can't see any comparison between Aguero and Shinji as a striker. Aguero has immense talent and is extremely elusive. Shinji's value so far has been in his movement, his busy closing down, workrate and indomitable spirit. Excellent qualities without a doubt but he's shown no signs of being a top class striker. I'll be interested to see how Ulloa adapts. He's seemed under-rated and undervalued to me but still offers important options as a genuine aerial threat in attack and support in defence. He's not the most mobile athletically but that shouldn't disguise the things he does offer when they're needed . Faced with him, Vardy, Mahrez, Schlupp and King, Everton looked completely out of their depth defensively. We really could and should have scored a bagful of goals.
Bayfox Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 If money really was no object and I wanted to improve the squad but with players I think would fit in both on and off the pitch. DeGea alderweireld aguero of the top of my head. DeGea is immense, not disrespect to kasper, but what a keeper. Alderweireld seems to play to a 8/10 most weeks and our 2 CB aren't getting any younger. Aguero, seems to knuckle down, never causes a problem and scores goals for fun. Sure there's loads more, but they are my gut reactions to the post.
