foxes_rule1978 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 It's definitely WHEN! I agree now, Vardy leaving sends out the signal to others that we can't keep hold of a team and will even struggle to sign replacements
MC Prussian Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Except if Liverpool offer 21m then we could just accept their offer and let Vardy chose. Which is what we would've done.
Fox 4 Life Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I agree now, Vardy leaving sends out the signal to others that we can't keep hold of a team and will even struggle to sign replacements That does concern me a little. Why would big targets come here when we will probably be selling our best 3 players to rivals.
apple987 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 This might sound ridiculous but I reckon it's actually important that Arsenal currently don't have a number 9 in there squad. It seems vardy is going down the CR7 route with the whole V9 thing.
Tuna Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 He's worse than Delph, at least he was genuinely upgrading from the VIlla trainwreck to a club challenging for the title. Inserting the release clause during contract negotiations in my mind makes Vardy a two faced judas cnut. And his money grabbing agent can jump off the nearest bridge. Both were planning to piss off in the summer as far back as february. He's not even a shit Harry Kane. He's a shit Shane Long.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I'm totally gutted over this. I really thought out of the 3 of them, Vardy was the one that was 100% staying. The whole team has been built around him for the last 2-3 years. What are we going to do? I honestly don't see us finishing in the top half next season now.
AyewJoking Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 gutted by his likely departure. probably the right time to leave, dont hate me but we've peaked and even though we're in the CL next season he'll get that at arsenal plus more money which must be the main reason behind this. dont blame him, he has to make as much money as possible in his career. i hope we at least compete with arsenal in terms of wages and offer him an improved deal. he did himself no favours by saying the team should stick together obviously not gonna hate you jamie but if you arent leicester then you'll be nothing to me which is going to be weird because i fúcking loved you man
weller54 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Let's be honest with ourselves here and get prepared for this vardy fiasco being the catalyst for Kante, Mahrez and possibly Drinkwater leaving too.. It's VERY likely to happen now as depressing as it all is.

The Guvnor Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I have tried not to comment on this in a negative manner as I was truly hoping this would not happen,it is however looking more likely it will. What is extremely alarming are buyout clauses which are surely set far too low. I have now read where Kante has a release clause of £20million I sincerely hope this is not true or you can see the vultures circling . We have a few extraordinary players which probably any amount of cash couldn't replace however we should at least be looking for a commensurate amount of cash for them . I am not sure how these buy out clauses are defined and a few posters are probably correct maybe there is fcuk all we can do about it as it may be the only condition the agents and players agree to contracts/extensions, but we do seem to be leaving ourselves wide open and certainly don't want the core of our team ripped away for a fcuking song.
thebartonfox Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Will mahrez and Kante get similar hatred if/when they leave? Not from me, as neither of them have been spouting all the "I'm really happy here and want to stay, it's not about money" rubbish. Kante particularly has refused to commit to the club long term when asked in interviews, while Mahrez has been relatively quiet. Vardy on the other hand has been very vocal about staying. It's not the fact that he's leaving that bothers me, I doubt there are many of us that can begrudge him a move at this stage in his career to a much bigger club on a really huge wage, it's the way he seems to have gone about it. Based on what we've heard, his agent has been sounding out other clubs for a while now (presumably either on instructions from Vardy or at least with his knowledge) while he's been lying through his teeth in public at every chance saying he wants to stay. Players like Vardy who seemed synonymous with the romance of football and not all about money are few and far between, but as it turns out he's just the same as the rest. I'm disappointed that he seems to be going, and disappointed in him as a person, but we'll move on. He's not bigger than the club, and if he doesn't want to play for us no doubt the scouting team will find someone who does.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Kante is the one we must keep. If he goes I'm really gonna be upset. Vardy can be replaced to some extent. Kante can't.
Drygon Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Right it's a new day and I've calmed down a bit today. I will be gutted if he goes but realistically this was going to happen after our great season. I am going to slightly compare us with Athletico Madrid 10-15 years ago. They weren't a big club then. Every year they had there best players cherry picked from them. What they have had is a great manager and scouting network and continue to find players to replace the outgoing players. For me I love vardy but he is isn't great playing with back to goal. Every team that comes to the kp this season is going to sit deep and negate that pace. My point is yes it will be devastating if he goes but we can and will move on. Players will still be attracted by playing for the champions and in champions league. He can be replaced Atlético de Madrid have always been one of Spain's biggest clubs, but they struggled financially due to some circumstances back then. And now that they've become stronger economically, I don't think they'll be a selling club anymore.
Fox 4 Life Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Kante is the one we must keep. If he goes I'm really gonna be upset. Vardy can be replaced to some extent. Kante can't. I don't think we have a chance now, rat boy has opened the floodgates. At least Mahrez doesn't seem to have a release clause so people will need to stump up for him. I just can't see Kante being away with France doing anything but pushing him towards the exit door.
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 We will still have quality throughout and the best scouting staff in the country. The days of replacing Lineker with £50k Steve Moran have gone, at least for now. Thing happen for a reason. He has peaked with us IMO. The buying of a 200k Bentley and divaish way the sad look-a likely was treated after they both relished in the publicity is not from the roots that have made him good. Obviously prefer it if he stayed as we will get the best out of him, but will be relieved when its over either way.............and hope he fails for Arsenals sake
The Doctor Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Doc, it's not just been on Twitter or on some shady blog. The BBC have reported concrete talks between Vardy, his agent and Arsenal and so have Sky Sports, the Mercury plus Ranieri admitting to it to the Gazzetta. That's as much as we have established. Other sources point to a deal that ought to be wrapped up by Monday, as Hodgson wants his squad members and their club deals settled by then in order to avoid confusion and to help maintain focus on the tournament. Ranieri has admitted the approach. Things like the medical are all just rumours.
Filberts lovechild Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 It's the fact that he seems to have been fishing for a move that gets me. Cheers for what you've done like, but don't give interviews telling other players to stay whilst secretly your plotting your own way out. Can't thank the guy enough for what he's done here just think the players are missing a great opportunity sticking it out in the CL next season. Sure his Mrs has something to do with it too.
Babylon Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 No because they have never come out and said they would stay.neither did Vardy, like all of them he just said he was happy here.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 I can see Kante going, but we will sign Slimani, and Mahrez will be the one out the three that will stay now. I always thought Vardy was 100% going to stay and the others I wasn't sure about.
MC Prussian Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Ranieri has admitted the approach. Things like the medical are all just rumours. And that's exactly what I was saying!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 neither did Vardy, like all of them he just said he was happy here. No he did not... he was saying why would he want to leave... we have won the title and have champions league. I can't be bothered to go around finding the quotes word for word but he said a lot to suggest there was never no intention of leaving...
The Doctor Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 And that's exactly what I was saying! Which is what I said to start with, making your post pretty pointless no?
