Langston Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 He's been linked with Chelsea, Inter and Real over the past year as well as getting no end of praise from Lippi. Would say it reeks of selling shirts but he must have something about him. Also he looks like a sous chef from a 90s Jet Li film who is actually undercover and superb at martial arts.
Richmondfox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 I'm sure Top said that he wanted to bring some Thai players over to train not Chinese. They are all the same to The Sun.
Wymsey Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Don't see any point really to sign a defender just for the sake of it. The defence is very much settled, and successful. Will he be any improvement to what we've got? Sounds like a marketing signing in some ways. Those tattoos look quite good but disgusting at the same time imo.

Don't think it'd be for the sake of it - he's a right back and that's an area we need competition in at the very least.

So we never buy another defender to improve us or add competition to our squad. Wake up. We need quality competition next season in every position. No room for sentiment
mozartfox Posted 22 May 2016 Posted 22 May 2016 Any money spent on him would be rapidly recouped via sponsorship deals with Chinese Entities. But stating the obvious, due to copy right not existing in China, all merchandise would be counterfeit! Mind you King Power would be very happy with the massive exposure they can expect from such a signing. If he is decent and up to standard, an excellent Marketing ploy.
Superpants82 Posted 22 May 2016 Posted 22 May 2016 Looks to get forward a lot, pace and can put a cross in oh and lets not forget the defending, wow perfect 2nd rb and cover for cb. Yes please
Bayfox Posted 22 May 2016 Posted 22 May 2016 So we are gonna fill the academy with loads of chinese/Thai *delete as appropriate. On 2 year deals? Interesting system that. How does is fit with EU law? Surely bringing them on mass at the potential expense of EU players looks very suspect. As for this guy. If lippi thinks he can defend then I'll take that as a recommendation.

sphericalfox Posted 22 May 2016 Posted 22 May 2016 See he's a No 5.. Checked with my Chinese and that's a pancake roll! Does that make him a guaranteed starter?

Bazly Posted 22 May 2016 Posted 22 May 2016 This could be a good move as it'd put Simpson under pressure. De Laet is a liability and would be best moved onto Middlesbrough permanently. Simpson made a few back pass howlers last season and scored 0 goals so an upgrade in that position will only strengthen the squad. Simpsons antics off the pitch probably have the owners twitchy as well. The owners will also be very keen to develop the profile in the Asian market and if signing a Chinese International has the same impact as signing Okazaki had in Japan it'll pay for itself in shirt sales.
