if  he is going to the Olympics he will miss allpre season matches/training + league and cup games potentially until August 20th

Ignore - I thought this was the Musa thread lol

Yes Luan is going to the olympics so he would definitely be away until late August!

How does it work as registering him as a "special" player anyway. Surely there are rules around that, otherwise everyone would do it. lol

EDIT: just found an article that goes into it. Much depends on things like what we pay, what he'll earn, what he currently earns, where he now plays, how often he plays... and a load of other bits.

Article here about it. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/how-will-brazilian-starlet-kenedy-earn-work-permit-join-chelsea-under-new-fa-regulation-1514035

The logic used to justify the Willian transfer was, basically:

Brazil is a massive country with a lot of very, very talented footballers. If Willian was from most other countries, he'd have been a regular international from a young age.

Dear fellows, I'm a Grêmio fan and I have watched every game Luan played since 2014. If there's anyone interested, I could tell more about him, since most of you probably haven't followed Grêmio in the last few years

I heard of Leicester's interest in Luan this week and have been pretty worried about losing our best player to Europe. Then I found this thread on Google and had some good laughs. Hope I'm not bothering you guys. Here are my contributions.

Luan pros: He can play at any position upfront. When he's playing as a false 9, he scores more often. When he's on the wings or playing as a classic 10, he assists more. At any position, he will be participating a lot of the game. He has good pass and vision, and this helps the team to control the ball and open spaces. Even if his numbers are not bad, they don't say all about him, since he usually has a deeper impact in the field than just scoring and assisting. If I had to point out his most remarkable skill it would be his close ball control. He is a very very very skilled and intelligent player, and also quite cold-blooded in front of the goal. He is the guy in charge of penalties and free kicks, and is very good at it.

Luan cons: not very strong, needs to work on that. You can see on Youtube how slim he is. Many people say he's quick, but I don't agree with that. He thinks fast, and this helps him fooling defenders, but he's not a guy that will beat defenders on long runs. Also I don't remember of him receiving a red card, but I must say he tries a lot (by calling rivals to fight, using his elbows etc.). On the plus side, I have never seen he diving or trying to fool referees.

I like to compare him to Rivaldo. Not because he's as good as Rivaldo (which he's not), but because they have this thing of playing at every position in the attack, show great technique but not amazing speed/stamina. His end result is great anyway and you would see lots of flair as well, which is always nice.

Only regret there's not enough decent compilation videos of him on Youtube. Please see a few goals and assists I collected from what I can remember:

This video is interesting because it only brings the goals he scored in the Brazilian league this year so far (we're in the 14th round now), so this is what he has done in the last two months:

This one I found brings lots of different goals and assists until two months ago:

Thanks for taking to time to write this, much appreciated. This is the best analysis of the player I've read to date, I can now understand exactly why we're after him. We need another Striker/Playmaker capable of creating opportunities in crowed defences, a lot of teams are going to 'park the bus' this guy should relieve the pressure on Mahrez to find opportunities out of nothing. Hopefully we seal the deal and get through the numerous contractual and permit hurdles.

Does that still work now Brazil are shit? lol

Right... We can all fret over this thread now... These players are coming far too easily and not causing nearly enough FT angst...

Has somehting changed since last summer???

Luan, Musa, Vardy, Mahrez.

LM, ST, ST, RM

:nigel:

The best thing about that is that all 4 can play all 4 positions.

Thanks for the info... Looks like an exciting player.

Do you think the price is right? Not over inflated?

Will he enjoy the pace/ physicality of the English league?

Difficult to say. Thing is you never know whether a player will succeed or not when going to play at a different club and league, let alone Brazilian kids with little or no brains. I think he can stand on his technique and perform well despite his lack of physical strength and pace, but not guaranteed. Leicester would probably work on that as European teams usually do with Brazilians.

Don't know how much exactly is being asked for him, but I think he has more potential than Oscar, for example, whose transfer fee was £19.35. Leicester will probably pay way less for Luan, so I don't see how this could go wrong. Grêmio needs money, so I think you can have Luan by £15 or less, which I believe is a safe bet.

Thank you so very much. Are you his agent?

I wish I was. But I just like following players from Grêmio's youth system playing abroad. I think he's gonna leave anyway, at least he'll be playing for a nice team to root for.

@amemkokaine

Do you think he'll be good enough for the national team and is he worth the fee?

I think this one is a goer for us. We need another player who can break teams down that park the bus, another clever player who doesn't mainly rely on their physical assets like Vardy and Musa. His versatility means he could replace any of the front three or play the second striker, No 10 role or false 9 when we want four attacking players on the pitch.

He's already good enough for the national team. He is one of three players that are probably be called for the NT this year when our new coach Tite (who replaced Dunga) takes charge. The others are Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Barbosa (Gabigol). We have space for all of them actually, since we'd been calling some veterans (Jonas, Ricardo Oliveira) to play as CF. Of course it also depends on their performances on the Olympics. They will all be playing for Brazil, together with Neymar and Douglas Costa. It is going to be a lab thinking on a new attack system for the main NT.

Love the bit about him using his elbows. A Mahrez/Was hybrid sounds good to me

Yeah, and best part is he has been very subtle on that (so far).

Is Luan like a better flair version of Deli Alli then?  (just so we can get another one over Spurs  )

That Gremio fan literally just described Riyad.

Exact thought came into my head.

I do wonder what's true and what's agent banter with this one.

I think this would be a great signing - somebody to provide some positional options real flair and competition.

When his agent start talking about 'all that remains is for us to receive the correct paperwork' it could be as simple as they have not received an offer from us in writing at all....

Let's hope it's a technicality that we can work around rather than agent talk.
