It just sounds like the original Euros that we had until the 70s where it was qualifying followed by the final tournament; as in the semi finals and final, in the host country.

I could be wrong though, I'm basing that on what was said about it months ago whereas that link is a load of impossible to fathom mumbo jumbo.

First ever found out about this on FM about a year ago and thought wtf lol

Actually really like the idea. Means if we're in the better seeded groups we could have a group with say Germany and Spain and if we win it (unlikely) we play semis and then final in the summer to win it. Means no more shit friendly games and England actually have better competitive games.

But if we come third in the group we'll be relegated haha

Beats meaningless friendlies and the format is really intriguing.

If you think the 4 3rd best place teams rule in this Euros was really confusing for the average Foxestalker, get the popcorn out when this starts...

looking forward to England suffering 3 successive relegations and finally being able to play against opposition of similar ability when Gibraltar, Kosovo and Andorra get drawn into our group!

anyone who has played football manager this year knows how it works already.

Can you answer me this then, if you are in League A Group 1 and get relegated do you get relegated to League B Group 1 and then promoted to League A Group 1 or are the groups mixed up each time?

They way it appears in the diagram is if you start out with Germany Spain England in Group1 England get relegated to League B Group1, they then win that but end up with Germany and Spain again in League A Group 1, which is a bit shit.

Or could you get relegated then promoted into a different Group? Or are groups re-drawn each time?

I expect it to be mixed was each time within each league to make sure you're not always in same group with same teams.

Finally means teams like Andorra, San Marino and Scotland play shite like each other and actually win some games

relegated from league A group 1 you go into the group B pool for the next "season" and they draw the groups again.

after the end of every "season" they redraw the groups.

So the draw for this is this week.

We are in pot 2 of league a.

Personally think it's just gonna be very similar to friendlies but made to sound competitive because they're replacing friendlies as leagues.

I'm actually looking forward to this.  Less friendlies and more competitive games can only be a good thing.  Great for the minnows too.

Not sure how serious some of the bigger nations will take it to begin with but the whole promotion/relegation thing has surely got to be a better way of ranking teams?

Basically this. It's just trying to attach meaning to friendlies. Like that world Cup or whatever we played vs Barcelona in Sweden.

It gives a minor meaning to friendlies.

If we are clever, this is a tournament for the Fringe players.

D.Mills point on tired players, I understand, but I dont see it.

If England got to the various qf/sf/ and a final,

You might play eg: Kane/Maguire /Sterling etc, in the games during the season, to support the fring players,

but in the further stages, you just play the Fringe or u21 , U19 players.

No matter what other countries decide to do in their selection policies for this tournament.

If a Germany or Italy decide to pick their top players...so be it

let us  take it, to give to the youngsters and some older ones pushing to break through
